Khalisa smile as soon as the elevator saw Rindang at the end of the corridor. The look was very different than usual. Khalisa half ran to Rindang and hugged him even he almost cried because his best friend had really embraced Islam. Khalisa felt sadness and happiness at the same time.
"Have you been crying?" Rindang laughed to see Khalisa struggling to hold back the tears.
"No." Khalisa evaded, he still looked at Rindang who was wearing a black robe and a gray headscarf.
"Am I miss you, you guys really long in Bantul?" Rindang pretended to put on an annoyed face when Azfan managed to catch up. He wanted to protest because Azfan took Khalisa very long but of course Rindang was not entitled to do that because they were married.
After returning from Banyuwangi, Khalisa and Azfan went straight to Bantul. They just returned to the apartment after a 10-day stay in Azfan's hometown.
"Let's go in." Khalisa pulled Rindang into his apartment, "said you've memorized Al-Fatihah?" He was eager to hear Rindang read al-Fatihah's letter.
"I learned a lot in the converts community." Leafy sitting cross-legged on the living room sofa.
"Alhamdulillah." Khalisa did tell Levin to invite Rindang to join the convert community.
"But I just learned the hijaiyah letters."
"It's okay, slow down." Khalisa sat next to Rindang, "I want you to read Al-Fatihah."
"But Azfan, I'm not here to be embarrassed." Shade saw Azfan.
"I went to the room first." Azfan stepped away while carrying a suitcase towards the room.
Rindang took a deep breath and recited the first verse of Al-Fatihah's letter in a melodious voice that made Khalisa amazed. Although the pronunciation of each letter is not precise, but it is enough because Rindang has not even one month to become Muslim.
"Where are Auntie and Om, do they agree?" Khalisa asked after Rindang finished his reading, he also praised Rindang for successfully memorizing the letter that will always be read during prayer.
Rindang was silent for a while before starting his long story. The night when he decided to say the shahadah, he also directly contacted the brands who proposed cooperation with him. On average they are clothing brands, shoes and hair polish because the characteristic of Rindang is like to change hair color. Rindang canceled all cooperation because starting that night he would not post photos with open clothes let alone show his hair.
Rindang will also delete all his photos on social media. But it all makes Rindang have to pay no small compensation costs. He asked the help of his lawyers to overcome this. Rindang wanted to pay all the penalty fees because he was sure God would give him a way out while he tried.
Khalisa listened carefully to every story Rindang, occasionally he rubbed his best friend's thigh to give him peace.
"Last night I just said to Papa and Mama because of the time I was eating I deliberately avoided them."
"Continue?"
"They're mad at me all-out, sorry, Khalisa they also said that you have a bad influence on me."
Khalisa shook his head, "it's okay I understand how they feel."
"We argued for a long time but in the end they accepted my decision, he said that until they cut ties with me they would have nothing else."
Khalisa smiled wiping his tears that did not feel melted wet his cheeks.
"Thank you you're an only child."
"Worse yet if they ask me to get out of the apartment, I'll sleep here."
Khalisa embraced Rindang proud because Rindang dared to take the biggest decision of his life.
"What is your campus?"
"The campus side is all shocked because this is the first time there are Muslim students, if on campus you may already have non-Muslim students who enter there and are required to wear a hijab as well."
"So they let you wear a hijab?"
"Fortunately I'm given permission if I don't, I'm going to get out of that college."
"Where do you want to go to college?"
"No need to go to college." It was as if everything he said was so easy to do. Though all the processes that are shady do not only drain energy and emotions but also material. The savings that Rindang collected since he went to school have been drained. But strangely Rindang did not feel heavy to spend all the savings, he actually felt relieved.
"Let's eat outside, long time we don't go out together." Take Rindang.
"What fasting?" Shady frowned, he thought fasting only existed in the month of Ramadan.
"Fasting sunnah Ayyamul Bidh or mid-month I will teach you the worship of Sunnah but if now it is mandatory first."
Rindang leaned his body against the sofa, "I want to wear a veil."
Khalisa's eyebrows raised, Rindang's sentence sounds like it is not serious but Khalisa remembers the last time he said such a joke the night Rindang immediately expressed the desire to martyrize.
"But the pantes is not a new Rindang who just said two sentences of shahadah suddenly wear a veil."
"Why do you suddenly want a veil?"
Rindang seemed to think, "no idea, just embarrassed if anyone saw my face let alone a guy, uncomfortable." He shuddered in horror at the sight of the men who could not take their eyes off him as he walked past them.
"Maybe if I was able to understand because you know my clothes are lacking in materials but now everything is closed except the same face but there are still those who see, am I too beautiful?" Rindang saw Khalisa pretending to put on a plain face.
"You are beautiful kebangetan anyway, if not impossible you become a selebgram followers hundreds of thousands." Khalisa shifted his seat closer to Rindang. "But the clothes don't fully reflect a person's nature or the amount of knowledge he has, so I don't think it's a problem if you want to wear a veil."
"But it's not possible to wear a veil to campus."
"When you enter the campus is removed, nothing matters, not the hijab that you take off."
"Is it okay?"
"It's okay." Khalisa nodded confidently. "God willing, I still can't believe you Rin." Khalisa again hugged Rindang from the side.
"Thank you for bringing good influence to my life." Rindang murmured to make Khalisa again feel touched.
"Haura, I'm going to the mosque first."
Khalisa went to see Azfan emerge from behind the wall that borders the living room and the middle room, "do you want dhuhur huh?" Khalisa kissed the back of Azfan's hand.
"Yes." Yeah." Azfan took Khalisa to the front door and kissed his wife. "Take Rindang pray with Haura."
"Yes, it's." Khalisa closed the door after seeing Azfan enter the elevator. "Come wudhu, get ready to pray dhuhur."
"Can't not yet adzan."
"Waiting to be called, get ready first and then fit the denger adzan so you can immediately pray."
Rindang followed Khalisa to a special prayer room that used to be a guest room. Because the room is rarely occupied so Khalisa converted into a place of prayer.
Rindang has memorized several daily prayers such as ablution and prayer. Two of the most important things for Muslims. Rindang also memorized several short letters that were guided directly by Ustadzah Zainab in the convert community.
"Jason doesn't bother you, does he?" Ask Khalisa when taking one thought for Rindang in the closet.
"No, he avoided more of our time by accident."
"Alhamdulillah if so, he's a good guy."
"I hope she gets a good girl." Rindang wearing Khalisa's mukena.
They heard the dhuhur adhan reverberating from the mosque when holding a prayer service.
"That's exactly right." Tukas Khalisa's.
Rindang held a prayer service next to Khalisa and they established the dhuhur prayer together with Khalisa as imam.
After the prayer Rindang asked Khalisa to teach him to read Hijaiyah through an application that he had downloaded via tablet.
Their friendship became more beautiful after the big difference between the two melted. Rindang and Khalisa had a good friendship without being disturbed by the differences in beliefs. But now that Rindang embraced Islam, their relationship is getting closer.
