The Mahabbah loved deeply, the feeling of longing and pleasure for something especially to God caused one to be centered in Him, if what is called love, we will do whatever He tells us to do and avoid all the things He hates. If we worship God based on love, God willing there is no feeling of being forced or upset when doing it all. Instead, we will enjoy moments of worship with God.
The sentence continues to ring in Khalisa's ears since he heard it yesterday at the meeting of the Mualaf Community chaired by Levin—kak his level as well as the chairman of the Yogyakarta Mualaf Community. The community itself was founded by Daniel—papa Khalisa since a dozen years ago.
Khalisa was amazed to hear Levin's explanation of the concept of the mahabbah, although it was not the first time he heard about the understanding of the mahabbah but he was still amazed especially at the converts who seemed to really want to love Islam more deeply. Although born as a Muslim, Khalisa also learned a lot from those converts.
"Assalamualaikum is beautiful."
"Where to go."
"Good afternoon, are you going home?"
Khalisa greeted everyone who passed by him despite not knowing them. If there is an opportunity then Khalisa will ask their name and remember it for him tomorrow and so on. He spread a positive aura to every place he passed.
Khalisa Syanin Alindra or commonly called Khalisa is a first-year student of FMIPA majoring in Pharmacy, Islamic University of Indonesia. Khalisa is a friendly girl who easily remembers people's names. As he remembered the name of the seller of roadside balloons that he often visited when he was 3 years old or people who had given him candy shaped legs when he sat in front of the play group building waiting for his mother come by. Khalisa remembered the names of people who had only met him at a glance.
After graduating High School, Khalisa finally ventured to study far from his hometown in Banyuwangi to Yogyakarta. Not without reason, he had dreamed of UII for a long time. Thinking he could gather with the people of prayer and prayer made him determined to be able to go to college here.
"Aren't tired of all of them?" Ask a girl who was walking beside Khalisa, he who only saw feeling tired especially Khalisa. Zalfa Humairah— Khalisa's first friend since they arrived in Yogyakarta, he came from Surabaya which is still one province with the hometown of Khalisa. Huma's nickname is the girl who loves fantasy novels, she is very obsessed with Harry Potter whose first series has been written more than 40 years ago. Huma was introduced to fantasy books from childhood because his parents owned a book publishing company that is still productive today.
"What kind of question is that?" Khalisa frowned unhappily, he never tired of greeting the people he met.
They walked to Mangan Gelato— where gelato is eaten near the UII campus which is always crowded by visitors who mostly come from among students. In addition to its delicious gelato taste, Mangan Gelato also has a good and comfortable place so that students feel at home here.
"Hi Khalisa." A student in a light blue rectangular hijab greeted Khalisa as they passed in front of the entrance of Mangan Gelato—ia was one of 10 non-muslim students who made it to UII through a written test track.
"Hello Clarin, where are you going?" Khalisa replied to the girl's greeting. "Your veil is slanted." She confirmed that Clarin's headscarf was slightly tilted, knowing that Clarin had never worn a hijab but because of studying at the Islamic University she was obliged to wear it.
"Get my stomach eat most of it." Clarin patted her stomach, "yes first."
"okay!" Khalisa waved at Clarin.
Huma who had walked beside Khalisa had already memorized if his friend did know many people here.
"What message?" Ask Huma when he arrives at Mangan Gelato.
"Eh Mas is a new employee?" Khalisa saw a man busy concocting various flavors of gelato into one glass.
"You familiar?" Huma elbowed Khalisa's arm.
"Not yet." Khalisa shook his head while twitching his eyes. Haven't you? this means that he will soon get to know the new employee Mangan Gelato.
Huma has a bad feeling towards Khalisa, surely soon Khalisa will invite Mangan Gelato mas-mas to get acquainted.
"What message do you want?" The neat-looking man in a dark brown uniform typical of Mangan Gelato spread a friendly smile, revealing his neat teeth. For a moment his gaze was locked onto Khalisa's pretty face but he immediately stood up and lowered his head.
"Oh my goodness, this gelato mas is so handsome?" Huma whispered in Khalisa's ear.
"Butterscotch Vanilla Gelato." Khalisa said his order ignored Huma's whisper, every here he never ordered another menu—ia type of loyal people including food.
"With Choco Waffle?"
"Yes." Yeah."
"What's the name?"
"Khalisa."
"Khalisa?" It was as if he had heard that name before.
"Khalisa Alanine Alindra."
He stopped his activity of sowing choco chips on gelato when he heard the girl mention his name.
"There is one customer who every come must message Butterscotch Vanilla, she's beautiful, kind and super friendly as everyone so don't be surprised if suddenly he invited you to chat, he said, her name is Khalisa—Khalisa Syanin Alindra."
He suddenly remembered Fendi's words while teaching him some basic things about the combination of gelato menu at the place, Fendi is a long-time employee who has worked at Mangan Gelato for the past year. Fendi stopped because he had to follow his wife to his hometown in Jepara.
"Two yes." Khalisa's speech broke the man's daydream and quieted his conversation with Fendi.
"Wait a minute." He again commented on the friendly smile with his slightly thick lips.
"Let's Mas Azfan." Khalisa smiled broadly at the nametag attached to the man's right chest.
The man named Azfan was excited when Khalisa suddenly mentioned his name, he should not be too surprised because his name was clearly attached to the chest but from earlier no customer called his name, he should not be too surprised, Khalisa was the first or perhaps the only one. Of course for customers the name of an employee in charge of making their order is not important, their purpose here is to eat gelato instead of knowing the name of the employee.
Azfan did not reply to Khalisa's thanks, the girl had already left the cashier looking for a seat in the middle of the room.
"So that's Mas Fendi's replacement." Huma brought his face closer to Khalisa as if someone he was talking about could hear him. "It looks like we're our age."
"It seems like a student here too." Allegedly Khalisa, he put his college bag on the floor and took out a sketchbook where he inscribed various clothing design ideas.
"Obviously not our major." Huma lowered his head to read the black-bound book he had been holding.
"Kok know?" Khalisa asked without seeing Huma because he seriously shaded the A line's game design with floral accents on his waist.
"If he was in the pharmaceutical department, you would have known him a long time ago."
When first getting to know Khalisa Huma was made shocked because the girl always greeted anyone she met. Sometimes Huma felt embarrassed because Khalisa liked to suddenly invite strangers. But now he has become accustomed to the attitude of Khalisa who is too friendly.
"Who are you saying you have an appointment here?" Huma remembered that Khalisa said there was an appointment with someone here after college.
"Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I made a deal with Ko Levin." Khalisa put a sketchbook and pencil on the table.
"Where are you going?" Huma looked up to take his eyes off his book.
"Pesenin gelato for Ko Levin." Khalisa stepped up to the cashier's desk to order one more gelato, forgetting that his main goal here was to meet Levin. The man, who is also of Chinese descent, promised to lend the book to Khalisa. Levin had sent Khalisa a short message that he wanted matcha gelato without any mixture.
"Mas Azfan I want to pesen one more, put it in a cup yes." Tukas Khalisa's. "Oh that's mine, isn't it?" He saw Azfan putting two Waffle dishes with gelato on top.
"Please, what does this one want to taste?" Azfan took one glass to prepare to fill it with any flavored gelato according to Khalisa's order.
"Matcha aja." Khalisa took a plate of two gelato moved him to the table where Huma and himself were sitting.
"Would the glass be given a name?" Azfan asked after Khalisa returned and he finished filling the medium-sized glass with matcha-flavored gelato.
"Give me the name Levin Evander Deristiano." Khalisa gave Levin his full name.
Azfan deftly carved the name on the plastic glass in his hand with a special silver metallic pen.
"Are you left-handed?" Khalisa was amazed to see Azfan writing with his left hand, he had never seen a left-handed person before.
"Yes." Yeah." Azfan thrusts gelato at Khalisa.
"Eh sorry!" Khalisa was surprised when his thumb accidentally came into contact with Azfan's hand which was very cold because it was struggling with gelato. Khalisa was amazed to see the upright writing connected Azfan on the glass. Azfan's left hand is amazing.
Quickly Azfan pulled his hand back, he gulped his saliva roughly like an electric shock when he accidentally came into contact with Khalisa's fingers.
Khalisa turned around, "Ko Levin, how long?" He retreated slightly so that the distance was not too close to Levin.
Azfan raised his face for a while to look at the guy who was talking to Khalisa. They both have narrowed eyes, wait a minute are they brother sister? not likely.
"Sorry, my class is over." Levin smiled sweetly— is so sweet that it made gelato in the hands of Khalisa minder made.
"Yes, the doctor hardly ever has free time." Khalisa teased Levin whose college schedule is always crowded compared to first-year students.
"No, I'm hugged by the doctor, it's still a long way away." Levin shook his head, he still has to undergo koas next year, even though he still has to go through a long journey to be called a doctor.
Khalisa took out a debit card from his gaming pocket, "so how much is Mas all?"
"Three hundred and fifty." Azfan mentioned the price of three gelato that Khalisa ordered.
"Oh yes this is on order." Khalisa gave Levin matcha gelato.
"Let me pay." Levin quickly gives Azfan cash before Khalisa refuses.
"Well, rich people." Khalisa glanced at Levin for a moment.
"It's okay I'll treat you for a full year if you let me stay in your hospital." Levin chuckled at the end of his sentence, he was just joking about it. Without the frills of the koas permit, Levin would treat Khalisa.
"Keep away from Ko, there are also many good hospitals."
Azfan did not intend to eavesdrop on the conversation between Khalisa and Levin but he heard clearly what they were talking about. Azfan can conclude that the guy named Levin is a medical student while Khalisa has a hospital far from here. How can a student have a hospital?
They left the cashier table after paying to continue their conversation while sitting down. Not forgetting that Khalisa thanked Azfan.
"Know Ko, it's Huma to me." Khalisa introduced Levin to Huma.
"Hello hello to Huma." Levin nodded his head greeting Huma who was enjoying the gelato.
"Oh this is what you said guy gan—" Huma's sentence was interrupted because Khalisa stepped on his foot. Huma remembered after returning from Banyuwangi one month ago Khalisa told me that he met a handsome convert and a shalih named Levin. It turns out that guy named Levin was also studying at UII.
Khalisa grinned his narrow eyes glared at Huma, through his eyes he said stop talking! Huma knew very well the meaning of the gaze so he immediately looked down pretending to seriously read the book.
Levin was astonished to see the behavior of his two younger siblings, he shook his head faintly trying not to think of anything.
"So Huma lives in Casey Avenue's apartment, too?"
"Hm?" Huma raised his face to hear Levin's question and then he automatically shook his head. He is not Khalisa who can live in a luxury apartment like Casey Avenue. "Living there for a year is like the cost of college until graduation, can't afford me."
"That's very true." Levin agreed to Huma's remark, he felt lucky because his house was near here so there was no need to spend on housing.
"That's Ama who chose the place, actually I also do not want to live in an apartment as luxurious as that, very wasteful, but Ama if you have decided something can not be contested."
"I didn't choose wrong." Levin mangosteen, in addition to luxury Casey Avenue is also close to the UII campus.
They fell silent enjoying each other's gelato amid the crowds of other visitors that afternoon.
"Where's the book that Koko said?" Khalisa took Levin's promise to lend him a book about Rabi'atul Adawiyah.
"Strong patience." Levin spoke with a thick Javanese accent, he was astonished to see the expression of Khalisa who could not wait to borrow his book. "More." He took out a thick, white-coated book with the words of Mahabbah Rabi'atul Adawiyah from his bag.
"I'll pinjem first." Khalisa sumringah looked through the pages of the book, he will read it in the apartment later.
Levin nodded unable to reply to Khalisa's words as his mouth was full of his favorite matcha-flavored gelato.
"He was a Sufi who first started the mahabbah, we can learn a lot from a Rabbi'atul Adawiyah." Lightly Levin after finishing the gelato in his mouth.
"I also have a book about an Al-Qaysiyah character named Rabi'atul Adawiyah but it's an old print that's not so complete."
Azfan saw Khalisa and Levin talking about something serious. Sometimes Azfan also wants to be like other students who can play out after college. Not everyone is as lucky as they are. Azfan smiled faintly bracing himself.
"What are you going home for?" Levin asked after finishing their discussion about the mahabbah and finished one glass of gelato.
"Nine pantofel shoes." Khalisa glanced down at his pair of legs wrapped in black pantofel shoes. The distance between the campus and the Khalisa apartment can be reached in 15 minutes by foot. Khalisa's car is often idle because he also rarely goes out besides college.
"I am anterine." Levin was excited but his voice was drowned by two people who looked like they were in a fuss in the middle of the room.
Khalisa and Huma both turned to the source of the voice. They yell at each other, cursing and swearing until the attention of other visitors. They seem to be lovers fighting.
"Don't look." Khalisa whispered holding Huma's hand to stop seeing the commotion.
"Geeh!" Khalisa screeched as he felt the cold liquid flush his nape—flowing all the way up his back. Whatisthis?
Azfan was surprised to see Khalisa's back wet with a drink. Azfan immediately grabbed the black shirt that he had previously worn during the lecture.
"Khalisa!" Levin moved to block Khalisa's body from the two people who were in a storm. "You're making a fuss here!"
"I'm sorry I didn't mean it." The wavy brown-haired girl was shocked, she accidentally spilled her drink until it hit Khalisa.
"If you want to fight outside!" Levin's jolt made everyone in there speechless including Khalisa. "You have disturbed the comfort of many."
"My mother is sorry!" He approaches Khalisa to apologize, but Levin prevents him.
"It's okay." Khalisa cried, he did not want to extend this problem any longer soon he had to return to his apartment.
The girl came out with her boyfriend instead of making a fuss again in there. Some of the people who were crowding also began to scatter continuing their respective activities.
"I'm sorry for the inconvenience." Azfan came with a mop to clean the floor full of brown drink stains.
"I'm sorry Mas got so dirty from the floor." Khalisa made room for Azfan. Likewise with Huma, he did not forget to take Khalisa's bag lying on the floor. Fortunately, the bag did not get wet, because Huma believed that there were many valuable belong to Khalisa.
"It's not your fault." Azfan looked at Khalisa whose face turned red probably from being shocked by the events just now.
"Ah my book is wet!" Khalisa snatched his sketchbook which was also hit by a drink stain.
"Quietly, he won't fade his ink." Huma tried to calm Khalisa.
For Khalisa, the book is more important than the dress or hijab she wears. If the clothes can be washed then the design image can not be redrawn. Khalisa had put his whole mind into drawing one design.
"If it's going to be dried, there's a fan on the counter." Azfan offers to help save Khalisa's wet book.
"Can you please please?" Khalisa presented the book to Azfan. "Titip first yes, tomorrow I take it here." His word.
"Hm?" Azfan was stunned to hear Khalisa's speech, he said? why did Khalisa leave such an important item to her?
"Wear my suit." Levin took off his suit and attached it to Khalisa's back. "Mending now I anterin you guys go home, if you can catch a cold later."
"Thank you Ko." Khalisa still had time to review the smile even though deep in his heart was upset, but the girl was watering it accidentally so he could not be angry. Without waiting for Azfan to answer, he walked out of there following Levin.
Azfan noticed the shirt in his hand when Khalisa and his friend and one man of Chinese descent left, he was about to give the shirt to Khalisa to cover his wet hijab and robe. He feels responsible because Khalisa is one of his customers. But there were others who did it first so Azfan undoes his intention.
Suddenly Azfan's gaze focused on the red digital prayer beads on the table. He saw the prayer beads installed in Khalisa's fingers earlier. Azfan picked up the prayer beads and ran out hoping Khalisa was still not far away. But the three of them had already completely gone invisible even though Azfan had been circulating his gaze throughout the entire courtyard.
