The sound of the cry of a newborn baby boy echoed throughout the rooms of the royal palace of Suryalaya. His voice almost broke the silence of the night.
A palace lady-in-waiting was running around as if she was going to hunt something. “Paduka, Sire,” he said before His Majesty King Baskara Nara Diningrat.
“What's up, dayang?” ask the King.
“Sendiko Gusti Prabu's. Grandchild has been born,” he replied with a happy face hue.
The King then stood up. “Take me to him.”
“Sendiko Gusti Prabu.” The lady-in-waiting immediately passed to the origin of the sound of baby cries that echoed followed the King.
“Sendiko Gusti Prabu,” said one of the elderly women who helped deliver with all the respect he had when His Majesty entered the delivery room.
“How is it?” ask the King.
“His baby has been born safely, it's just.” The interpreter was born saying with a hesitant voice. He wondered whether he should announce the death of the king's daughter in front of the people present or if he should express it in four eyes.
“What's all? Say it clearly! Don't beat around!”
“Good, Your Majesty,” said the spokesperson frankly “The baby was born safely, only his daughter could not help her life.”
“What? My daughter can't die!” His Majesty looks so angry when he hears the heartbreaking news about the condition of his only daughter.
“Hamba can't do anything. Destiny says other.”
“I won't accept any of this. This must be because of this unlucky child who took the life of my beloved daughter. I don't want to see him alive in this palace. Take this child away from me and this region,”.
Be Jaka Umbara an orphan whose presence is not accepted by the Suryalaya kingdom, even by his own grandfather, His Majesty King Baskara Nara Diningrat.
His Majesty even issued a decree that the newly born Jaka Umbara from the womb of his daughter was banished away from the royal area of Suryalaya.
With a heavy heart the old woman who helped deliver also brought a baby who still needed a mother's embrace out of the royal palace.
“Take this in return for you.” A bag of money was given by His Majesty to the old woman who was a lady-in-waiting who worked for His Majesty's daughter.
“And remember! take him away from the royal palace area, if you need to throw him away from Alas Sewu Village,” said the King as he turned to leave the room.
Several years passed since Jaka Umbara was forcibly exiled by his grandfather who was none other than His Majesty. He is almost ten years old now.
Although his life can not be said to be sufficient, but he is still grateful to still have a chance to survive. Although he could not enjoy his childhood like most of the other children, he still did not complain. For him everything given by the almighty is a blessing to be grateful for.
“Jaka.. Jack! Where are you, son?” An old woman called out to Jaka.
“I am here, Mom,” Jaka said from the top of the tree branch in front of his hut.
Seeing that the old woman panicked and immediately ran towards Jaka. “What are you doing up there? Quickly down! Dangerous! If you fall down, how about?” he shouted with a tone of panic.
“Mother rest easy, I'm used to it.”
Before long Jaka jumped from the top of the tree branch and almost fell down while stepping on the ground.
“Mom don't have to worry! I'm doing fine. I'll also be careful, Miss.”
“Yes already, let's go in. I've prepared your favorite meal. You take a shower first. It's late in the afternoon anyway, we better get inside.” immediately
“Good, Bu.”
Without many words Jaka followed the steps of the old woman who raised him into a small hut where he had lived since childhood.
The night is getting late. The noise of the night beast was becoming clearer. The atmosphere in the hut where Jaka lived looked quiet. His home is far from the house around him.
That night Jaka looked hard to sleep. Several times he closed his eyes but never lost consciousness.
Finally he decided to go to his mother's room next to his room. He crawled closer to his sleeping mother.
“Bu, Mom.” Jaka woke his mother up slowly. Then his mother woke up to the sound of Jaka calling. He immediately opened his eyes and saw what made Jaka awake from his sleep.
“What's up, son? Do you need anything?” asked the mother while rubbing her eyes.
“I'm having trouble sleeping, Mom.”
“Oh, so it seems.”
“I want to sleep next to mom. Can you, Ma?”
“Bby.. here sleep next to Mom if it can make you sleep fast.”
Jaka began to fall asleep next to his mother. That night felt so long. Jaka jerked awake opening both his eyes suddenly. There was a feeling that was difficult for his mind to digest. Not wanting to dissolve in his doubts he closed his eyes again trying to go back to sleep.
Sometime later, Jaka dreams as if he is in the royal hall. He glanced there and there, so many people present. Where'sisthis? thought.
He looked back and forth, and suddenly on his right-hand side stood two tall and burly men. He looked ahead. There was a beacon and an executioner who was ready to execute a prisoner.
“Bring him here!”
The voice of someone made Jaka surprised. He looked for the origin of the sound in all directions. Unfortunately, he could not find out who the owner of the voice was.
A moment later his eyes were fixed on the figure of a woman who was dragged roughly up on the trigger device in front of him.
For the sake of seeing who the figure of the woman who was dragged by force, Jaka Umbara's eyes widened. Shocked, sad and bitter mixed into one. Mama!.. He said softly.
“Mother! Mother...” Jaka shouted trying to call the figure of a woman he was very familiar with. Hand restrained. The two tall and burly people beside him held both hands firmly. He thrashed with all his might to break away, but his strength was too weak.
Not yet finished there he was shown the figure of the woman he called the mother was forced to put his head into the fountain. Jaka grew rebellious and shouted loudly. “No!! Release Mother! Don't hurt my mother! Mother, mother.”
“This woman is a royal rebel. By the decree of Her Majesty, then today, in the presence of all the people, this woman must be put to death to be an example for anyone who dares to rebel against the kingdom, then you should be prepared to end up like him. Immediately prepare the knife and law this rebellious woman!”
The executioner immediately gave a warning before the execution was ready.
