Chapter 14 Your Shadow

Cherry ran into her room without seeing her mom and dad first. He stood in front of the mirror and looked at the reflection of his current appearance.

Her face glimmered in embarrassment as Max's lips landed on her lips. Even Max's smile that was capable of enchanting him was still reflected in his mind.

A few moments later he woke up. His hands fluttered in front of his face as he walked towards his bed and said,

"Huuufffftttt.. Cher.... What do you think? Forget it if you don't want to get hurt."

Cherry is a beautiful girl, but she refuses to be hurt. That's why he never dated. And there is no man who can shake his heart.

All this time, all the men who approached her were all unable to shake her heart. No one was able to make his heart tremble and make him think about it all the time.

Recently Cherry always imagined the face of a man. And that man is Max. 

But he does not want to be hurt. Max is surrounded by many beautiful women, so Cherry prefers not to be hurt later.

Cherry covered the pillow on her face hoping that the shadow of Max's smiling face could vanish from her presence.

"Cherry..don't scream!" arini shouted from the kitchen.

Cherry, who knew where her mother's voice came from, now steps her foot in that direction.

"Mr…!" exclaimed Cherry while scattering to embrace her mother who was slicing vegetables.

Arini is surprised to find her daughter suddenly hugging herself from behind. Even Cherry's embrace was tight and her head leaned against her mother's back.

Arini stopped her activities. He put down his knife and turned his body back. The look in his eyes traced the suddenly spoiled face of his daughter to him.

"What's the hmmm? Tumben really spoiled gini same Mama," asked Arini while sticking his hands on both cheeks of his daughter.

Cherry just shook her head. He refused to tell his mother. She felt very ashamed of her mother who supported her relationship with Max.

"Ehemmm. Did Max give you anything?" arini asked with a smile that meant to tease her daughter.

Cherry's face grew increasingly blushed to hear the words of her mother. In his heart he said,

No Ma, just a kiss.

"Cherry wants to help Mama" said Cherry to distract her mother.

Arini's forehead frowned at the words of her daughter. Cherry doesn't usually want to help her mom in the kitchen. Even touching the kitchen is rare.

"Tumbens? Is this a sign that you're getting married?" asked Arini who was astonished by the change in her daughter's attitude.

Cherry's face changed into a shocked expression when she heard her mother ask about the wedding.

Cherry immediately denied it by saying,

"What is the wedding Ma? Cherry still doesn't want to get married."

"Pengen do not want, do not want to, if it is time for marriage and there is a candidate, do not have to be delayed again," said Arini while pinching the nose of his daughter's nose.

Arini just smiled and shook her head at the words of her daughter. He immediately continued his cooking.

Max's face was still in his eyes. Even the vegetables she saw turned into Max's smiling face.

Cherry shook her head to have Max's shadow disappear from her eyes.

"Huuuffftttt..," said Cherry's breath, clarifying the relief of her heart.

Max's face was no longer visible to him. Cherry resumed her activity of slicing vegetables.

Arini turned her head towards her daughter, she felt strange with her daughter's attitude. He was about to ask, but was stopped because Cherry had returned with her activity of slicing vegetables.

Cherry suddenly remembered Max kissing her lips. Unknowingly he was lulled by the shadow. Cherry smiled and did not look towards the vegetables she cut.

"www!" cherry exclaimed as his finger was sliced by the knife he was holding.

Arini stopped her cooking and approached Cherry who was blowing her finger.

"You why Cher? Why did it come to this?" ask Arini while pulling Cherry's hand towards the sink.

Cherry's teary eyes looked at her injured finger as a result of her carelessness. In his heart he was busy cursing Max.

It's all because of Max. I need to get his face out of my mind. You fucking flat frying pan!

While Cherry is preoccupied with her thoughts, Arini deftly cleans her daughter's wounds and bandages them using a wound plaster.

"It's done. You better set the dining table. Let Mama cook. Instead of your fingers all hurt, can be scolded by Max later Mama. Mama could be mistaken for abusing the authority as a mother" Arini said while chuckling at the end of her sentence.

Cherry is upset to hear Max's name mentioned by her mother. Then he said,

"Mama... what the hell...cock run to Max? What does this have to do with Max?" 

"He is your future husband. Yes it definitely has something to do with Max" Arini replied with a chuckle.

Arini pushed Cherry's body towards the dining table and sat her in the dining chair saying,

"Here you help Mama here. You're putting the cutlery on."

Arini returned to the kitchen to finish her cooking. He cooks everything himself.

Suddenly there was a phone ringing sound coming from Cherry's phone in her pocket. Soon Cherry took it.

He was stunned to see the name on his phone screen. In his heart he said,

Whatisthis? Why'd he call me? 

Cherry just looked at it without answering the phone call. He dissolved in his own mind until the phone call stopped.

However, the phone in his hand was again ringing with the name of the same caller. 

"No. I don't want his voice to keep ringing in my ears. I better turn it off" Cherry murmured as her hand moved to turn off her phone.

Cherry's lips curled upwards when she saw her phone screen was dead and she said,

"Safe."

Moments later, while Cherry was arranging the tableware, she heard the sound of someone opening the door.

"Cherry.. Mama.. Papa's coming home!" fahmi shouted from the direction of the door.

Cherry got up from her seat and said,

"Tumben the hell is Papa screaming? Usually just a little."

Suddenly Cherry's eyes widened when she saw her papa walking in with someone.

"Eh there are guests" said Arini when he was near Cherry.

"Hi Cher!"
