Storia 17: Heart For Others

There is a burden for every love. There is a price for every sacrifice. Ryan felt what he had been fighting for Sarah all along was worth it. He never minded having to do more. He knows there are a lot of changes going on. And he had no inkling of it either. But it was early December that changed everything. Even though it was still the worst moment for the sake of his feelings. Because after everything that happened, he would lose one more thing that was just as valuable as all of them. Hope, dreams in the future, all these dreams will soon be destroyed from his life.

On Thursday, the first day Ryan returned to work, he suddenly felt something strange when he arrived at the office. And this is not usually when Sarah does not go to work like this, especially the oddity was also followed by her father. He started calling her once, two to three times over the next few hours, but she got nothing there, other than her phone being kept unanswered. He had no idea what was causing him this way. But still all of that should force him to hold back even more.

Actually, the atmosphere was a little fun. Because Otto wasn't in his room anymore. Which makes the job a little easier to live. There is no tension, no job that requires more energy, even they can spend time sitting relaxed for hours. Everyone really started to show their old habits as the root of the problem went away. And Ryan could hear Susi and Melia talking a lot about their household. Complaining of their husbands who are not the same as they previously imagined. Yuni and Nina were discussing the next door neighbor of their house. Or Tami who just listened. He knew it was none of his business. But it felt quite difficult to limit his hearing, because the distance with them was not far at all. Gossip is a different obsession if what is spoken of is the content of a woman's mind. This is what he understood all along. At least until Sarah's name started to get into the conversation.

Tami started to stare at him, before directing such a conversation. “And you yourself Ryan, when is there a plan to get married?” Exclaims. “It looks like you live a person who is still not married?”

He immediately imagined it for a moment, before discovering the fact that the whole thing was not true. He felt there was Frans there, Eddie, and of course Sarah. Which made him respond to her in a relaxed manner.

“If the time comes, of course.” Legally. And he could see Tami who was slightly smiling.

“Sarah soon after loh?” Again, without changing the subject. Before Ryan looked at her in surprise. His face really showed his surprise.

“You don't know yet…? Tomy Harris is her future husband. They're getting married this February. The invitation is even on the notice board if you want to see.” Again he said it. It would still take a few seconds for him to truly understand what was happening.

Harris said…? One of the most famous and influential families in Welmina. Ask in the heart. They have a lot of money, here are the businesses that control the lives of the people there. The Harris family, a powerful person who was also influential in the development in the village. They even took part in telecommunications and electricity projects in Welimina. Until his name was in the news from the local newspaper.

Some of him tried to deny it, not wanting to believe it, by thinking of it as another Sarah. After all, a name like Sarah is a fairly logical name found in the world in any hemisphere. But when she saw Sarah Elisa Murti's name engraved there, especially the same image showing a photo of her, she knew there was only one person in this world who had it. The two realities suddenly left his world shattered into pieces.

For a moment, everything suddenly went slow, and his world instantly turned blank. He never knew he liked anyone else. He doesn't want to accept it. I can't imagine losing him. But no matter how bad the reality was, he knew he could not avoid it anymore.

More than once he's been repeating their togetherness for the past year. And he saw not the slightest sign of Sarah going away from him. He even seemed to enjoy it all. Which he said also showed the same hope as he had always wanted. But when all must go the other way, she begins to feel the story changing so ironically now. Things that easily provoke anger.

Thousands of whispers began to echo around his ears. Why could he do all that? Did he plan it? After all he had done, all the time they had spent together. He was very sure if Sarah understood his feelings very well, but how could that be the case? But what makes him angry the most is of course why he keeps his closeness to him. Never said it from the beginning.

At the same time, he wanted to call her. Want to talk to him directly. He demanded that he explain everything. But that opportunity never even came in the near future. Sarah also never answered all her calls. Or even explain it through a message. Not until the next day, not until a few days have passed.

He started to hate her. Hated her so much. And he felt that Sarah was laughing at him there. Because he's been playing it so far. Whatever it is, it does to make her feel better. And it was not difficult for him to think about the worst things when he met the person who had seized him, asking him to fight. Because that was all he needed to satisfy his pride. But he didn't do it either. Or meet him, or even call him. And choose to keep it for himself.

Because he is fully conscious now. That he was only fighting for a woman, who was actually completely unworthy.
