Storia 9: A Heart That Makes a Home

They did not meet again after that day for a week. Because Ryan has to think about Sarah's words. It's about where he can take her. He knew once that what Sarah meant by going out was a lot of hanging out, but the understanding of getting along with the two might have been a little different. When she prefers to hang out with friends she knows well, it seems that what Sarah means by going out is to familiarize herself with life there.

He had to go around the village a lot so that everyone could see him. He has to be involved in a lot of sports clubs. He should also wave and smile at passers-by even when he does not know them. He knew this was what Sarah almost did every day. But for him, it was a reason. In such a narrow place, it was hard to find people who had lived there for a long time but were not familiar with each other. Most of them are close relatives. But still, it felt too difficult if he had to put it into his way of life. Sometimes Ryan also thinks, if he just needs to do that as a necessity. But his other self again reminded if it was the wrong choice, besides this is also for the sake of the manifestation of feelings. What he said also has a point. So that's what he did then.

“So...where are you taking me tonight?” Sarah asked with enthusiasm.

“You will know it soon!”

“You didn't give me a clue?”

Then he cleared his throat. “In fact.., I don't expect you to be distracted by crowds. But maybe this could be the attention of friends later.”

“You mean, you invited us to meet them?” He stared in wonder.

“Not so.. I mean. but since this place is open right, the possibility of it must be there. After all, friends often go there.” His words are as sure as possible. But what he did made him even more curious.

They walked a few minutes from his house. Ryan planned to walk. So they have more time to talk. After all, the place they were heading to was not entirely special either. Even he did not need to feel anxious about responding to the attitude of his friends later. They should also know everything.

He took her out to dinner that night. To one of the places in Welmina that does not even have a name as its trademark. Although the menu offered there is famous delicious. After all, things like that are not a problem here either. Especially if not at night. As said, stalls in Welmina almost always close before eight in the evening. That makes them who can sell anything without a single rival. The only thing that was interesting seemed to be just the place that was near the village field. The location at the time was quite strategic. On certain nights, people used to gather to see art events or local bazars. Who sometimes invited artists from the city. That's why the place is almost always crowded. Even when it's not a really special event.

“You sure you want to bring me here?” Sarah suddenly asked as they searched for a place.

“Ya,” says without thinking long.

“But the place is many people.” Sarah again. This time without looking at him.

“It's okay.” The reply. “I mean, since I'm here with you, I'm just happy to be a concern.” Then he laughed.

The two had to pass a number of people again before sitting in one of the chairs, then directly order the menu. By the way, they only sell simple menus. And there are only dishes like soup there, fried rice, or grilled fish. Even the best drink is just sweet tea. They then filled the time again with a number of talks, waiting for the order to come. Until he realized, that Sarah turned out to be a little rowdy in response to the people who passed in front of him.

He tried to distract her.

“Have you been here before?”

This time his attention began to return. “Ya, several times.” He stopped for a moment. “So... Why did you suddenly think of bringing me here?”

“Um.., I don't know. I guess because the seller is not your father.”

He laughed. “You're too honest.”

Shortly thereafter the waiter came to deliver the order. That momentarily ended the conversation between the two of them. And they immediately enjoyed the dish as soon as it was served. Outside, the moon just came out of the other hemisphere. His full radiance instantly radiated in all directions. Right in front of the eyes. While without Ryan realizing it, he had just built a relationship as perfect as this.

In his heart he began to imagine that it was easy for a light conversation to be present between them, making the two laugh at each other. And that has been a good reality for this development. But there was still one thing that kept him on his guard. Something he had to figure out. Something he had to ask.

“Does your father know you're coming out with me, Sarah?” Then said.

Part of the reason is not only because Sarah is still hiding something. Ryan even knew Otto still didn't like him. While he needed that fact to determine his next move. But instead of answering directly, Sarah turned away for a while. It looks like I am thinking hard.

“I don't know. I don't think so. But since she has never seen you lately right, maybe the story could be another.”

She recalled the moment Sarah told her to wait at the end of the street of her house. A sign that is not at all difficult to see. But then again, he momentarily ignored her here. Before his reply came back to make him depressed.

“I think you should bring yourself closer to her, Ryan! He's your boss anyway.” Then sahut. And without paying any attention to his expression.

“I? How can?”

“Yes, you just need to work more diligently right!” His tone sounded smooth and soft simultaneously. Let him know if Sarah still thinks she's less responsible. It was even obvious that he tried to throw all the blame at him. Although he did not start it first. Of course this was not something he had expected from this meeting. Ryan chose not to answer. This time the conversation stopped for a moment. And both of them were busy with our glasses.

All around them, the crowd started to dwindle a little. And Sarah's looking for a way to say something right now. To melt the atmosphere. But Ryan didn't know if he was going to ask her that.

“So, what are your plans after this, Ryan? I mean, I've heard of your desire to get out of here, right?” Tanyanya.

Sometimes, his mind path is difficult to understand.

“Yes, that's of course. I mean, if the opportunity exists. But such things are impossible.”

“Why can?”

“Because people like me are outcasts right?” His mouth, he said it while shrugging his shoulders. “Because I have no family here, that's why I was thrown here. In the past, during the first test, we were promised if the placement was based on the level. So it's obvious that my presence here is a mistake. Not to mention from those who did not even for a year had already been able to get out of the city. You can see for yourself, they're like Thomas, Esti, Sandra, or lastly, Lynda. I think, if they can arbitrarily, I think I can do it too.” He said it with a straightforward tone.

“But that doesn't mean it's an excuse for not working properly right?” Her mouth is soft.

And as before, he hated it when Sarah touched on the matter again and again. And choose to keep it for himself. At times, he also felt that their paths of thought would continue to be forever opposite. No matter how much he told me about injustice. She even got a little doubt as to what Sarah really expected of this relationship. The fact that actually made him a little discouraged.

“Have you tried it? I mean, you're asking for somewhere closer or something. You've been here long enough, haven't you?” Ask Sarah again.

“Ya, ever. But they treated me... um... ‘racis’.” He smiled at that word. Realize if you shouldn't say it.

“I don't understand?”

Then Ryan nodded. “How yes, Sarah. Actually, I don't want to talk about that either! But you know for yourself, words like ‘indigenous’ or what. Besides, the truth is I'm just a newcomer.”

He breathed for a moment. Don't know how to continue anymore. Even though he actually said what he had been through all this time. But Sarah turned her face to another thing.

He doesn't know why, but people do like to compare origins these days. Before making it a big deal. And he felt that it was quite selfish of course, when bringing such cliches into everyday life. What an irony is happening in this country.

“But, I think I'm starting to get laid now.” Said again. Sarah looked back at him. “You want to know, what makes me feel a little at home?”

“What is it?”

And he purposely made her wait for a while before she actually said it. Let it dissolve in his pleasure.

But his next words he had been thinking about for a long time.

“It was you!” Then said.

And he had just made his face blush now.
