Youthful Time Volunteers 2
The Feelings of Rani

If only Miko would be honest with Rani, the problem would not be this complicated. Although it was very relieved because it turned out to be just a mere misunderstanding, but Rani still did not feel good to Ghevin. Just as Rani was about to open her mouth to apologize once again to Ghevin, Ghevin was out of the blue again.

”Gue did not expect Amanda's problems would affect lo,” commented Ghevin. Not only influenced, actually, also made Rani almost crazy—-until she decided to be blunt. ”Padahan, even if I really turned Amanda back, it has nothing to do with lo, right?”

”Emang has nothing to do with me, because I am nobody lo,” said Rani agreed. Then, somehow got courage from where, he continued, ”But am I wrong, if I want to be someone special for lo?”

For the past three and a half years, Rani has stood on a frozen lake where the ice sheet is so thin, reflecting her friendship with Ghevin. And with his words just now, he had taken a step forward, making the layer of ice beneath him begin to crack. If he did not want to fall into the cold water, he would have to stop stepping. That means he can't say dangerous things anymore.

The problem is, Rani has been standing on the frozen lake for too long. If he stopped, he would never go anywhere. There was a Ghevin across from it, by the lake, and it took a few more steps to reach it.

After all, it seems like Ghevin already knew Rani's feelings for him from a long time ago, or just today. Rani's jealousy towards Amanda, which is clearly shown, certainly convinced Ghevin. Because Ghevin already knew, coupled with a supportive atmosphere, Rani became increasingly

sure to express his feelings for Ghevin.

Before continuing, Rani looked at Ghevin. But his intentions were read by Ghevin, and Ghevin firmly shook his head.

”Stop, Rani,” Ghevin's orders. ”Do not forward.”

Only, Rani remains stubborn.

”Gue don't want to stop,” said Rani. ”Kalo I quit, how can our relationship develop?”

”Rani, I said ber—”

”Gue likes the same lo, Ghev,” said Rani half exclaimed, cutting off Ghevin's words. ”Gue really like lo.”

Rani finally revealed. It feels like the burden that has been squeezing his chest for three and a half years is—because he was forced to harbor his feelings for Ghevin— was lifted, and made him able to breathe freely. He knew the relief would not last long. His steps brought him closer to Ghevin, as well as widening cracks in the ice sheet. He will soon fall, and now the decision is in Ghevin—'s hands will he let Rani fall, or save Rani?

Rani waited, and kept waiting. But until the minutes that followed, which for Rani felt like centuries, Ghevin had not yet made up his mind. Until then Ghevin sighed heavily.

”Sorry, Rani.” Two words. Just those two words, and Rani knew the decision Ghevin had taken. This time it was Rani's turn to tell Ghevin to stop talking, because he didn't want to hear anything Ghevin would say next. Unfortunately, Ghevin is no less stubborn than Rani. ”But I can't reciprocate the feeling of lo.”

Rani's heart immediately felt hollow. Blank. There's nothing to it. But it only lasted a second, because in the next second, the ice sheet underneath it collapsed. He fell into the cold water—so cold that it was bone-piercing. Every part of his body was very painful. He rebelled with all his might, trying to escape the pain, but was instead increasingly tormented.

”Why?” Rani's voice sounded so far away. ”Why can't you?”

Rani still doesn't understand. ”What does this have to do with it?”

”Actually, Rani, I've known your feelings to me,” I'm Ghevin. It turns out that he already knew. ”Gue can see it from your gestures every time we're together again. But even so, I decided to pretend not to know. I have a principle, I'll never date Melly's best friend. Because if we date, then then break up, then it will affect your friendship with Melly. I don't want that until it happens. Melly is very dear to you lo.”

”Why are you so sure we'll break up?” tugut Rani's. ”Padalaan it is possible that our relationship can last.”

”Come, Rani,” sigh Ghevin. ”Lo see my previous relationships. None of it is durable.”

”Do not make it as a benchmark,” protest Rani. ”Kalo lo can like me as much as I like lo, then there is no reason for us to break up, right?”

”There will be other reasons that can damage our relationship, do not care even if we like each other though,” Ghevin said. ”How can you guarantee that the reasons will not appear?”

Although Rani wants to say she can guarantee it, in fact Rani knows she can't. On the other hand, he was also not willing to give up.

”With you reject me like this, after all I will also be heartbroken,” said Rani. ”So what's the difference with if we break up later?”

”Certainly different,” said Ghevin. ”Kalo I keep courting you when I know I'm just going to hurt you, means I'm playing lo. What would Melly say if she knew I was playing with her best friend? After all, it will be easier for you to overcome your heartbreak if I refuse you from the beginning. Your friendship with Melly will also be fine.”

”From just Melly aja you thinkin,” jolted Rani. ”Lantas how about me?”

”It was for the good of you too,” said Ghevin. ”So, Rani, it's better you lupain aja ya lo feeling the same I.”

Is this the end Rani has to face? Ghevin instead tells Rani to forget her feelings towards him, as if it was easy for Rani to do so.

Without Rani noticing, tears began to fall down her cheeks. He turned away, not wanting Ghevin to see him cry. Her hands were busy wiping away the tears, but her tears were pouring out even more.
