The Hard Jack

"Daddy?" Cassie was surprised to see her papa who had come home on the thing just 2 p.m.

"Are you cleaning up the house?" jack asked and sat down on the couch.

"Yes. My friend just got home. He happened to be visiting this village with his papa."

"Oh.....!" That's all Jack said and leaned his back against the couch. Jack massaged his head which was a bit painful due to the frequent drinking of alcohol every night.

Cassie looked at her papa. He then stood behind his papa while massaging his head.

Jack smiled at getting a massage from his son. "Thank you dear."

"Don't get drunk, dad. Not well. Especially when you come home at midnight. Poor mommy sometimes waits for daddy to have dinner but daddy comes home late."

Jack quiet.

Cassie kept massaging her papi head. "Daddy same mommy fight huh?"

Jack was silent.

"Dad, don't get mad at mommy, okay? I often see mommy crying silently when finished Videocall with Arma. Mommy must miss her son. For the sake of daddy and me, mommy left Arma. We should both love mommy more. Really no?"

Jack did not speak. He still closed his eyes but his heart began to worry about his daughter's words.

"What if mommy suffers living with us and finally returns to Indonesia?"

Jack's heart is getting restless. He slowly opened his eyes.

"Dad, let's surprise mommy, let's pick up mommy and eat out. The snow has not yet fallen and we are finally home."

"Daddy.....!" jack's heart was doubtful. Jack is that guy. Very aggressive and a little emotional.

"Come on. Later after that Daddy same mommy must be smooth talking."

"I'll get a jacket?" Cassie ran straight to her room. As soon as he returned, the girl was ready with her thick hat and jacket.

The two take a car to the cake shop where Riani works.

When they arrived at the door, Jack saw that Riani was walking and a man was following her. Jack knew the man.

Since he first saw his face on social media, Jack has memorized the man's face. Daniel. Jack's chest immediately rumbled between anger and jealousy. Do they meet here often?

"Let go, Daniel!" Riani very loudly pulled her ladder from Daniel's grasp. When he looked to the side, he saw Jack and Cassie standing at the door.

Jack's face was angry. Jaw hardens. Eyes lit. The man's hands were clenched. He intends to hit Daniel but Cassie holds his papa's hand.

"Daddy....!" Cassie shakes.

Jack held himself back. He doesn't want to look evil in his son's eyes.

"Honey....!" Riani approached Jack.

Daniel's stunned. So this is Riani's husband?

"Hi baby." Jack hugged Riani and gave a brief kiss on her lips.

Daniel's heart ached at the scene. He then left without saying anything.

Upon seeing Daniel come out, Jack suddenly catches up with him.

"Hey....!" call Jack when he's outside.

Daniel stopped his steps and turned and looked at Jack. "What's wrong?"

"Never bother my wife! You don't know who I am!"

Daniel smiled in a slightly mocking style. "I know who you are, Jack! What amazes me is why did you let your wife work here? Can't you afford his life until he has to work too?"

"You ...!" Jack's gonna talk but Cassie's already calling him from the entrance.

"Daddy.....!"

Daniel scrunches his forehead and hears Cassie calling Jack Daddy.

"Come in, baby!" take Jack.

This afternoon the cake shop visitors are a bit quiet. So Riani immediately spoke to Elisa's mistress.

"Miss, can I go home soon?"

"Can. You also plan to close because according to the weather forecast, from this afternoon snow will fall followed by a storm."

"thank you. I also beg you, if that man is looking for me again, please tell me that I am not there. He's my ex-husband. I can't believe I'm meeting him here either."

Elisha was surprised to hear it. He already knew that Riani was once married. Riani herself told it. But she did not think that the Asian man was her ex-husband.

"The world is so narrow."Elisha shook his head. "alright. I'm not gonna let him into this store just to look for you."

Riani immediately opened her apron and took her bag and soon met her husband and son who were already sitting in the store.

"I have permission for Lady Elisha to go home early. Let's go!" invite Riani to try to be ordinary because he does not want Cassie to know that Jack and himself have been quiet for several days.

"We're going to have dinner outside mommy" Cassie said, standing up and looking at her papa. "Well, is it dad?"

Jack nodded despite being seen on his face that he was lazy actually for a walk.

The three of them left the cake shop.

Slowly, Riani got off Cassie's bed. He pulled out a blanket and covered the body of the teenage girl then turned off the lights and finally came out of the room.

Cassie looked happy when they had dinner last night. He is also seen trying to create a conversation between Riani and Jack. Looks like this kid knows that mom and dad are in trouble.

When they got home, Cassie asked Riani to help her braid her hair. Finally, they were busy talking about Christmas and Cassie fell asleep.

Riani immediately went to their room. Jack is not. Maybe her husband was in the living room watching a baseball or football game. Riani was reluctant to bother him. Actually, Riani dislikes one house but is silent to each other. But how else. Every time she tried to get Jack to communicate, her husband was silent. Riani actually felt that Jack was very childish.

Finished from the bathroom, Riani only used a towel. He didn't shower. Just cleaning up the important parts of his body. He could freeze if he took a shower at 11pm like this.

Just as he had opened his towel, the door was opened from the outside and Jack entered.

For a moment their views met. Jack was stunned to look at his wife's innocent body while Riani was also shocked when she saw Jack.

With a quick movement Riani put on her clothes. His heart is beating fast. There was a strange sensation that spread to all parts of his body. Is it because Jack hasn't touched her in nearly a week?

Riani also brought the towel she used outside the room. After that, he went back to the room. Jack was still sitting on the edge of the bed as if he was waiting for him.

Riani ventured to sit near her husband. I hope dinner will warm the atmosphere between them.

"I want you to stop working!" jack said slowly but with great emphasis.

Riani surprised. She loves working with John and Elisha. Riani had even considered them as her own parents.

"But baby, I...."

"Nothing but! You must obey what I say. I told you my salary money could fund our lives."

"It's not about salary but about ...."

"There is no objection! I don't want you working there and Daniel could just as casually meet you. Cassie's still on vacation anyway and you're not gonna be lonely."

"Jack, Daniel's looking for me. He's the one who tried to meet me. I refused to talk to him. I never had any intention of meeting him."

Jack looked at his wife. "The only way is you stop working there. And I don't want any objection, Riani."

Riani took a deep breath and then exhaled slowly. "alright. Tomorrow I'll talk to Mr. John and his wife. I'm also sorry I didn't tell you when I first saw Daniel. I don't want to be honest with you, but I don't think of him as an important man to talk to." Riani immediately went up to the bed. She knew that as a wife, she had to obey her husband. And he won't make a fuss with Jack.

When Riani had laid her body. He felt the bed move. He knew Jack was sleeping too. Shortly after, the headlights were turned off.

"I'm sorry I'm too jealous of you. I don't understand why I was mad at you that night. Maybe I'm too possessive or I can't control my anger." Jack spoke slowly. Riani heard. But somehow, his heart just did not want to respond to Jack's words.

The two are silent to each other. Until finally the night picked them up in a dream world that drowned them in deep sleep.

Outside the house, a car stopped. Look at the small house with a sad look. Riani, I will take you back to be with me.
