The Unexpected

Jack didn't say much when they got home. He didn't even eat when they stopped by a restaurant. He only drank a cup of coffee to keep himself from drowsiness that might attack him on the way home.

Riani herself could not help herself from feeling tired and sleepy.

"Sleep, baby. I'll wake you up when we get home" Jack said, looking at how his wife was trying to hold back from sleepiness.

"Later you're bored there's nothing to talk to."

Jack smiled. "I won't get bored if you're next to me."

Riani took Jack's hand and kissed the back of her husband's hand gently. Then he closed his eyes.

Morning is approaching. The snow covered the yard and the road.

When Riani woke up, she was surprised to realize that the time had shown at 8 am and she was already in the room. Jack was not next to him. Riani got up and went to the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face, she also changed her clothes and immediately left the room. He was surprised to see Jack in the living room while decorating an evergreen tree.

"Good morning!" greet Jack when he sees his wife.

"Good morning." Riani approached and noticed what her husband was doing. "You want to decorate a Christmas tree?"

Jack nodded. "I'd rather wear a real tree than an imitation. Indeed, if this tree is finished Christmas will surely wither."

"Where did you cut it?"

"After this house. I plant a cypress tree every year."

Riani looked at Jack. There is a black circle in the eyes of her husband which indicates that he is sleep deprived.

"Darling, what time did we get to last night?"

"Hour 11. You slept very well. I can't wake you."

"What time do you sleep?":

"Eitherway. Forgot me."

"What time did you wake up this morning?"

Jack smiled at his wife's question. "I'm fine, my wife. You better have breakfast. I made pancakes and cow's eye eggs."

"You didn't have breakfast?"

"I had breakfast."

Riani hugged her husband from behind. "I don't want you to dissolve in sadness. Share your story with me if you're sad."

Jack turned his body. He looked at Riani's beautiful face without any polish. Natural beauty. "To be accompanied by you has made me happy. Oh yes, Mr. John and Lady Elisha had come to bring a cake and to offer their condolences. He also said that you can take as much time off as you want."

"I'll be in tomorrow."

Jack kissed his wife's lips. He then hung the Christmas tree again. Riani went to the kitchen and enjoyed her breakfast.

"Honey, I think Cassie should know that her opinion is dead."

Jack who still continues to decorate the Christmas tree for a moment looked at his wife. "Just wait if it's winter break. Maybe next week he's off."

"Do you want to make coffee?"

Jack nodded. Riani made coffee for her husband.

"Tomorrow you're at work too?" riani asked as the two were already sitting in front of the fireplace.

"Yes" replied Jack and wrapped his hand around Riani's shoulder.

"I'm kangen with Arma. Usually when he enters December, he will start with the semester exam. A week later they will receive a report. Arma must be the champion. And he's gonna ask me to take him to town. We would play all day at the mall or to the sari park. Then the next day will be in town again to buy her a Christmas dress."

Jack rubbed his wife's arm. "We just pray, baby. Hopefully not until Junior High, Arma will stay with us here. Cassie must be happy because she's gonna have a sister."

"That's what I want, Jack."

"We go for a walk!"

"Where to go? It's snowing outside."

"yes too. So we're just at home? You're not bored?" ask Jack.

"Why should I be bored if there's this handsome guy by my side?"

Jack looked at his wife while raising his eyebrows. "Waw, I just found out that my wife's smart to seduce too."

Riani blushed a bit. "I'm not seducing you, baby. You are handsome."

"How can I be with Daniel?"

"Handsome to you."

"really?"

"No believe? Duh, I don't have any more photos of Daniel."

"Social media?"

"I'm not friends with him anymore."

Jack took his phone and opened his IG account. "What's IG's name?"

"Daniel77."

"Why 77?"

Jack typed that name. And a picture of a man appeared. Tall, athletic body. It looks elegant and classy as a young entrepreneur. He also uploaded several photos of him during his activities, there were also two photos of him with a woman.

"You're more handsome, aren't you, baby?"

Jack smiled triumphantly even though he was a bit jealous as well because Riani apparently still memorized Daniel's name, and the reason behind his name was.

"Yes. I'm more handsome." said Jack arrogantly making Riani anxious and kissed her husband's cheek.

Jack immediately pulled his wife to sit on his lap. The two face each other. Their eyes clashed with each other making Riani slightly turn her face as they looked at each other.

"Why is it dear that every time we look like this you are embarrassed?" jack asked as he put away Riani's haircut that covered his face.

"Eye eyes are sharp. Redeemed to my heart."

Jack laughed a little. He pinched his wife's cheek slightly. "Duh baby, your words are sweet..."

"Sugar sweet times."

They laughed together and when the laughter ended, who did not start, the two immediately kissed very affectionately, sharing the warmth against the increasingly thick snow outside the house.

Cassie's tears were unbearable as she cried in front of eating her op. Not caring about the snow that began to wet her body, the teenage girl who had sat in the 7th grade was seen rubbing the tombstone of the opa.

Jack who saw it was stunned. He did not expect that his son would be hit by the news of the opa's death.

"Cassie baby, opa's quiet up there. Don't be sad anymore, son?" Riani rubbed the child's shoulder. Cassie hugged Riani with a deepening cry.

"Daddy and opa had forgiven each other before opa's death. So is Aunt Juliana." Jack's words made Cassie look up and look at her papa who was standing next to Riani.

"really? Daddy and opa don't make it anymore?" ask Riani.

"No. We're better, baby." Jack said, making Cassie look happy. He wiped away his tears, then broke away from Riani's embrace and directly hit his papa with a cry of happiness.

"Thank you daddy. Opa must be happy that daddy forgave her."

Riani could not help but feel the need to see Jack shed tears as he hugged his son.

"Daddy, we're going to London to hear the reading of opa's will, right?" ask Cassie when they're in the car.

"Daddy's not leaving" Jack said, putting his seatbelt on.

Cassie looked at Jack. "Why dad?"

"Daddy expects nothing from your opa. Your opa company has long since gone bankrupt. And Daddy doesn't like going to London." Jack started running his car.

"Darling.....!" Riani who was sitting next to Jack looked at her husband with a face full of supplication.

Jack glanced at his wife. "I don't want to love."

"Lawyer Felix said that you and Cassie should go there. Because the will reading won't start without you." Riani tried to persuade.

"I'm tired of driving myself to London." Jack reasoned.

"Then tomorrow will be the reading of the letter." Riani did not despair of persuading him.

"Don't force. I don't like it." said Jack, making Riani instantly silent.

They arrive in front of the cake shop where Riani works. "Cassie, mommy's working first huh? I'll see you later in the afternoon." said Riani then kissed the husband and child, he continued alternately before he finally got out of the car.

"Why did Daddy let mommy work?" ask Cassie after Riani goes down.

"So mommy's not lonely at home."

"But dad, didn't mommy deserve to know....."

"Shut up, Cassie. It's not good to interfere in the affairs of the parents." Jack interrupted his daughter's words.

Cassie's quiet. He stared out the window as his father returned to run his car.

Meanwhile, Riani who had entered the store immediately went to the production kitchen because many customers were asking for her chocolate cake. He eagerly made the cake. During 2 hours in the kitchen, he finished his work immediately back into the store.

It turns out there have been some people who ordered the chocolate cake and directly delivered by Mr. John himself to several customer houses located not far from the cake shop.

Riani immediately cleared the table when she saw some customers leaving. He raised a glass of coffee and a plate of cake.

After that he went to the kitchen and gave it to Madame Paulina, cool Lady Elsa who helped also here.

When he returned to the front, he saw two cars entering the cake shop.

"Welcome." said Miss Elsa while Riani turned her back to the door because she was cleaning the window where the cake was displayed.

"Excuse me, where's the restroom?"

Riani's hand cleaning the glass stopped. He stood up, then turned his body slowly. The eyes of the two looked at each other and the two pairs of eyes seemed rounded because they were both surprised.

"Riani?"

"Daniel?"
