Arriving home, Renata immediately bathes Justin and gives him medicine. Although it is no longer fever, but Renata feels it still needs to be done just in case. After that he rushed to clean up, letting Justin play first with his mother in the living room.
Was my cooking not good? Bern's reaction was so strange. He didn't even say a word about the food I made. Could it be that Bern was just pretending to like the food so I wouldn't feel offended?
After Bern asked Renata to have breakfast in his apartment, he hurried off to cook. Not because Renata liked the man, but because he was used to doing it at home. But Renata was made to wonder at the reaction in the man. Though he really hoped Bern would praise his cooking. But yes, Renata could not force the will. Who knows Bern is not in a good mood, so just be quiet without praising.
"Why do I keep thinking about this? Strange as it is" muttered Renata astonished at his own thoughts.
Renata rushes out of the bathroom as his mind continues to rest on Bern. He seemed to be shaking his head as the shadow of the man continued to appear in the eye sockets.
"Oh my goodness, Renata. You're the reason. Bern is not who you are, you don't even know yourself this way. Conscious!" said Renata while patting her own cheek.
Tok tok tok tok
"Ren, can you come inside?"
Renata almost jumped in shock at the sound of knocking on the door. Soon she normalized the expression on her face before letting the mother into the room.
"Just go in, Mom. The door's not in the lock."
Chequelek
Nandira breathed. He stared at his daughter who was picking up clothes from the closet. As she stepped in, Nandira asked her daughter something.
"Ren, where were you and Justin staying last night?"
Being asked like that made Renata nervous. He then bit his lower lip, confused whether he should speak honestly or not. Last night Renata asked the driver to say that he and Justin were staying at the hotel. Renata feels uncomfortable telling her parents that she and Justin are staying at Bern's apartment. She was afraid that her mother would think of them.
"Don't shut up, Renata. Speak on. Okay?" persuade Nandira.
"Did Justin say something weird to Mom and Dad?" ask Renata.
"Yes." Yeah." Nandira again breathed. "Justin said last night you were staying at his father's house. Who's that?"
"Don't misunderstand me, Mother. I didn't do anything bad."
"Does Mom sound like she's accusing you of something like that?"
Renata shakes. He then decided to wear a shirt for a while. As for Nandira, she chose to sit on the side of the bed.
If it's Bern, then it's a good start. I'm not greedy or selfish, but I just want the best for my son and grandson. And hopefully it's him.
After putting on her clothes, Renata went back to see her mother. He took a deep breath, ready to tell the truth.
“Relaks, darling. Don't be prejudiced that I want to pressure you. I just want to know who you were staying with last night. That's it,” said Nandira responded to the feeling of discomfort in her daughter. He then waved his hand, asking Renata to sit next to him. “If Mom's question made you feel uncomfortable, I'm sorry. I'm just worried about you and Justin.”
“I understand what Mother means. And regarding Mom's question, I will answer it,” said Renata with a faint smile. “The night I said I wanted to take Justin for a walk, that was just an excuse. I remember not last night I asked who sent me a message?”
Nandira nodded.
“A foreign number suddenly sent me an apartment address. And at the same time Justin made a reaction as if asking me to go there. Whether this was just a mother's instinct or because there was another coincidence, I ventured to come to the apartment. I wonder who the owner is and why someone could give me that address. And when the apartment owner opened the door for us, it made me very surprised. Do you want to know who owns it?"
“Who?”
Renata took a long breath.
“Bern Wufien Ma's. He is the owner of that apartment, Bu.”
“A-what? Bern?” peekik Nandira was shocked. Both of his eyebrows are so tangled that he did not expect that last night his daughter was staying at the apartment owned by the son of an influential family. “But Ren, who sent you Bern's address? Have you ever exchanged numbers with one of their family members?”
“Not at all, Mom. I don't know any of them but Bern. And I never asked for or gave him my phone number. Last night I actually wanted to ask if Bern knew the number that sent me that address or not. But looking at Justin who was directly attached to her, I finally undo the intention. I'm afraid it will make the atmosphere awkward considering Justin who continues to call Bern as father.”
Silent. Renata and her mother both fell silent after she spoke like that. Recalling his words offering the wedding to Bern, Renata's face suddenly heated up on its own. He was ashamed to remember the silliness.
Don't let me know about this. I'm afraid Mom went to see Bern and persuaded him to be willing to marry me. No, this can't happen. I have to keep it a secret.
“Ren, indeed Bern does not suspect seeing you and Justin who suddenly appeared in his apartment?” nandira asked curiously. He feels something is awkward here. There's no chance that there's a coincidence that looks like someone is purposely directing. Nandira felt the need for him to investigate the matter. Must.
“Initially Bern asked me, Mom. But yes it was, our conversation came to a halt because Justin immediately called him dad and stuck to him like gum. So we no longer have time to discuss the problem,” replied Renata trying not to be nervous.
“Then what happened next? You guys ... you don't sleep on the same bed, do you?”
Blusshhhh
Renata's cheeks blush. Last night between him and Bern, nothing happened. However, those who fell asleep while holding hands made Renata's chest pound very hard. He briefly woke up and went back to sleep after looking at Bern's face, the longer he looked, the more familiar he felt in his mind. But should she tell her mother about this? Renata no sense.
“Ren, honestly. It's okay,” said Nandira gently coaxing. On the elus slowly her daughter's hair was still half wet.
“Bu, nothing happened between us. And we didn't sleep in the bed, but on the couch. So don't worry Mom. That mistake will only happen once in my life. I promise,” said Renata responded to the unrest in her mother.
“That's not what Mom meant, Renata. I just don't want to ….
“No need to explain anymore, Mother. I know, and I understand how you feel. Let's not talk about it again. Okay?”
There was a long sigh coming from Nandira's mouth as Renata interrupted her words. Really, as a parent Nandira obviously hopes her daughter does not go the wrong way. But if it happens, Nandira can what.
“Oya, Mom. Where is justin? She has a fever again no?”
“Justin is playing with your father outside. Justin's condition is really good, Ren. He's been beaming since you guys got home. Maybe his encounter with Bern has affected his emotions.”
“Hmmmm, thank God that she has no fever anymore. I'm relieved.”
“You're going to go store?”
“See how Justin used to be, Mom. If the fever goes up again, I probably won't go to the store. But if he's okay, I'll probably be gone for a little while. Today there are regulars who order flowers, so I need to make sure that the employees don't make mistakes.”
“Ya already then. Get ready. I'll wait for you outside,” said Nandira then stood up. Before leaving he kissed Renata's head first. Daughter, beloved. “Mother get out first huh?”
Renata nodded. She kept watching her mother until the door closed again. Afterwards Renata lay on her back in bed. Mind floated.
“Bern, who are you exactly?”
