The Mafia's Asmara Cage

The Mafia's Asmara Cage
SASM - The real farewell

Samantha was still sitting pensively looking at Gerald's necklace. The necklace she thought was just an imitation necklace from a federal agent, but it was actually a real federal agent necklace. Samantha smiled angrily at herself as she recalled how she thought her foster sister was just an unemployed person whose hobbies were traveling obscure and boasting. His return was uncertain and rarely in the house, until Samantha never felt strange.

“Gerald is our spy who fell in the line of duty,” Wilson said as he watched Samantha just pensive in her place.

Samantha lowered her head even more, as the glint of Gerald shadow flashed so clearly across her mind and broke her heart. He still remembers how much love Gerald had for Samantha who lived a long time since she was born into this world. In this world, Samantha only has Gerald but then the man is gone for good. Really, the sky is falling.

A round of tears just dripped from my eyelids belonging to this tough girl. All the strength he had, from the confidence he had, to the courage Samantha faced the world, were the seeds Gerald had planted since she was a child.

‘Whoever you are, no one can shrink you. You mean Sam, especially for me.’ Samantha recalls that sentence, one that Gerald always said to encourage her. If Gerald is gone for good now, who will strengthen him?

Wilson and Alicia saw clearly that this young girl was devastated. His silence showed that he was suffering. “If you want to see your sister for the last time, we'll drop you off before she's buried.” The voice belonged to Wilson.

Samantha did not answer. He immediately went to his room and changed his clothes. He also tied his hair high. Lastly, he wears a black jacket and hat left by his brother.

“I'm ready!” Samantha stood straight in front of Wilson and Alicia. He stared intently at the two men with full readiness.

Wading through the streets to meet Gerald, Samantha's heart was enveloped in a sense of unworthiness. He remained silent in his waiting place as the car stopped at Gerald's final resting place.

A similar building as a headquarters, visited by Samantha. The place is very foreign, from the outside, this building is like an office that has not been used for a long time. While inside, the building is like a secret headquarters for Wilson and his comrades.

“This is our headquarters and That's room Gerald.” Alicia showed me a room in the corner of this room.

“Can I log in?” Samantha asked permission.

“Hem,” Alicia opens the door to Gerald's room.

Samantha's heart rippled as the first thing she saw was a picture of herself and Gerald on the wall. Photos they took after practicing taekwondo by the beach. Their faces were very cheerful and laughed with width.

Samantha rubbed her tears violently. His white face immediately turned red. He did not sob but his heart was broken. He checked the entire room minimalist room. There was only a small bed with a military-style vault.

The closet door was opened by Samantha. There are several Gerald shirts there, one of which is a T-shirt with Miami that Samantha bought when she went on vacation last summer. Hah, it feels like just yesterday he saw Gerald showing off his athletic body behind a shirt of pride that Samantha bought. But this time Samantha can only smell the clothes that still leaves a typical Gerald fragrance that is still attached there.

Samantha was silent in that room. Next he followed Alicia's steps toward the place he wanted to go immediately. A dark passageway they passed by with small lights that lit up with a considerable distance from each other. The color of the lights is white, contrasting with the building which is dominated by black.

Samantha's heart stopped beating as she arrived in front of a sealed room. He still hopes that what he will see later is not the Gerald he knows. It might be another Gerald.

“Your time is not long, only about five minutes.you are also not allowed to touch Gerald's body because he was exposed to toxic substances that can harm you,” Alicia said while handing a mask to Samantha.

Samantha did not respond. He wanted to go in immediately because he wanted to make sure that the one inside was not his older brother Gerald.

Being in that cold room, Samantha looked at herself. Gerald's body lay before him. Only a piece of cloth covering Gerald's tall body was athletic. His face was left open until Samantha could clearly see the pale face.

Samantha sobbed to see Gerald's face covered in wounds with dried blood. His biggest wound was on Gerald's forehead, very gaping and surrounded by other minor injuries. Samantha could imagine that her sister's head must have been hit on a blunt object or a weapon's cock.

On his neck was a puncture wound, not too wide but deep enough to pierce his carotid pulse. Samantha couldn't imagine how Gerald's breath would hold life in the savage human's hands.

Samantha's hand had been raised to touch Gerald's face one last time but Alicia's message made her unable to act any further.

“Why did you leave me Gerald? Who would disturb my sleep if you weren't around? Who will make me grilled toast and salted fried rice? Who's going to eat the milk and cereal I just bought? Who will always forget to close the water until our bathroom floods. Who will,..”.

Samantha's legs are strong, now hollow. He fell down in front of Gerald's body. Only his hands were hanging and were very close to Samantha. Samantha desperately wants to touch Gerald's fingertips that have begun to turn blue. But, again, Alicia's words remembered her.

In the end Samantha could only cry alone without anyone wiping her head affectionately or hugging her to calm her down. Gerald was truly gone for good, bringing all the sweet girl's happiness and cheerful smile. From now on, he had no more arguing opponents who would ban him from going out at night. No one banned him from drinking alcohol.

Gerald, why is your departure so sad?

A funeral was attended by Samantha with great sorrow. Gerald's body was buried in the ground with the other bodies that occupied a public burial cluster. There is nothing special about the death of a Gerald. He was buried without any ceremonial events as Gerald died as an organizational spy. It also opened an official government organization.

Wilson and Alicia faithfully accompany the girl. They stand behind Samantha and see for themselves how the girl is destroyed and trying to survive alone.

A piece of paper Wilson gave Samantha. The paper is inside a white envelope attached by a red heart-shaped piece of paper as a lock. With trembling Samantha opened the letter. A letter that is always written by an agent before carrying out its mission. Like the last message he wanted to give Samantha.

'Hey, bad boy.' The greeting was typical given Gerald to Samantha.

'What's your day beautiful?' look, he's insinuating.

'This is the fifty-second letter I wrote in preparation for the farewell message I wrote for you. Every time I write, I always hope this letter will come back to me. Stupid indeed, because I realize that my mission is difficult but I still dare to hope that I will return home safely and disturb you while sleeping.'

'Samantha, in this world you are all I have. The scariest thing I've always kept in my heart, is how would you feel if I left first? Who's going to eat your salty fried rice and burnt toast? Also who will help you when the apartment collector harasses you? You're a taekwondo whiz but I'm still worried about that. Stupid right?'

'Samantha, I'm on a difficult mission. Many times I almost die every time trying to find a figure that threatens the calm of many people. I don't want to see any more girls for sale. I can't imagine how devastated the parents and families who lost them were. And I was afraid, it happened to my most beautiful sister. Therefore, I keep trying to hunt that human.'

'One more thing I want to tell you. Can you guess it?'

'Hahahha, yes, about the woman you want to meet. The woman who made me delirious and expressed my feelings. You're still curious no?'

'I feel ashamed to admit it but I want to admit it before I leave. That woman I love so much. His behavior sucks and often gives me headaches. She was an oaling cuckoo among many other women. But her smile is so sweet. He also cannot cook. Jara walks firmly like a man. But really, I fell in love with that girl. To me, she is the most beautiful woman in the world. He must be reading my last letter. Yes Samantha, the woman I love is, you.'

Samantha paused to read Gerald's letter. His heart was like it had just been punched so hard by Gerald. Sick and stifling. How could Gerald just admit it now? While he felt the same way about Gerald, it was just that it was too late.

'I have one big dream in the future: to marry you and live happily together with you. I'll do it after I kill that human. Breaking the chains that made the women seem worthless. Are you ready?'

'Akh no. I shouldn't have asked in this letter because it means, I asked when I was dead. Isn't it exciting?'

"Yes, you stupid Gerald." Samantha clucked.

'Samantha, live well when I leave you. Don't get sick, don't cry, don't forget to eat and enjoy your cereal, I won't ask for it again. This time, there is no need to share with anyone because you just have to make yourself happy with many desires that you have not achieved.'

'Samantha, if I go, will you be fine? no, I shouldn't have asked that. I just have to say, Live happily even without me. You should know that I love and love you.'

Samantha's hand trembled after she finished reading the letter. Feelings mixed in Samantha's chest. One thing he clearly felt at the moment was that he was very angry. The paper was filled with anger. He stared at the gravestone that read Gerald's name there.

“Who killed Gerald?” samantha asked Wilson and Alicia.
