The wedding plans began with the funeral of one of Cortez's adopted sons. Under the scorching sunlight, Gerald's body was completely interred. His body was put in a coffin and lowered slowly into a burrow. Only a few people escorted Gerald to his final resting place.
Behind her sunglasses, Samantha stared at the ground nanar that began to cover the coffin. He did not expect that the figure of the man he had already considered his own brother, left in a tragic way. This is the second time Samantha has attended Gerald's funeral and the last time she has met him.
“Goodbye Michael, now that name is written on your tombstone,” the inner Samantha on the shadow of Gerald that is getting farther and farther away. His body was completely covered by the ground and the priest began to recite prayers to accompany Michael's departure.
No one was making a sound or sobbing. There was only a tear in the corner of Maximo's eye that was covered in sunglasses. However he never expected that his brother would leave in such a tragic manner.
Arriving at Maximo's house, the man seemed to be silent alone on the balcony. He took off the sunglasses that covered his red eyes full of sadness. The contents of his head still twisted the memories of such a beautiful past between him and Michael. Running in the fields owned by his parents, skating using the father's fertilizer sack or occasionally disturbing Mirella who wants to catch butterflies.
They will laugh when they succeed in thwarting Mirella's attempt to take her butterflies. “Later tonight I will catch fireflies, no one come with me!” the girl exclaimed in annoyance. He immediately approached his mother and hugged her tightly. Before long, Mirella was crying in annoyance.
“Michael! Maximos! what are you guys doing?” the father shouted while shaking his waist. At that time Maximo and Michael compact ran into the forest. They're hiding there. Fill their time by swimming in the lake or playing wars and climbing trees.
The last time they made their parents angry and did not dare to go home. They just got home at night. At that time Mirrela's room was seen so bright by the light of fireflies in her jar. Michael and Maximo could only peek out from the crack of the bedroom door, for fear that the little boy was screaming for his parents.
“You guys, what are you doing?” ask the mother who caught secretly the behavior of her two sons.
The two were stunned and could only bow before the mother. “We're sorry mom. We promise not to bother Mirella again,” Michael sincerely said with regret. He tells Maximo to apologize.
“I-iya mother. I won't bother Mirella anymore either.” Maximo spoke timidly.
The mother stared at them for a moment. Children's mischief has become commonplace. “Eat, after that go take a shower. Your body smells of the sun, ” said the mother, who can never speak sweetly. But they know that their mother loves them very much.
“Iyaa,” they walk in spirit towards a simple dining table made of wood. They started to eat their own food and enjoy it.
“You wake up?” the mother asked when she saw Mirella at the mouth of her bedroom door.
“I'm mom's nightmare, I saw dad die,” said the little girl.
The mother immediately approached Mirella and held her, then sat her in the chair opposite Maximo. “Your stomach is hungry, eat it. After that go back to sleep,” said the mother who returned to continue her homework.
“Do not repeat, mom says men should not be evil to women. They have to protect women. I hope you remember that,” said the toothless girl adorablely.
“Iyaa, we will not repeat it.” Maximo pointed his little finger at Mirella. He also pulled Michael's hand to participate. The three of them clenched their little fingers and laughed at each other for some reason.
“Spend your food, don't sleep too late. Tomorrow you go to school,” the mother's message.
“Good mother...” All three at the same time.
“You missed him?” A voice became the final respite from Maximo's daydreams. The man rubbed his tears violently and turned to the younger brother who came to him.
“Sit down,” Maximo patted the spot next to him for Eveline.
The girl obediently sat down beside Maximo and leaned her head against Maximo's sturdy shoulder. “You remember my last nightmare?” ask Eveline. This girl has remembered all the events of her childhood, including when she got lost in Russia and became a woman of the night because of Michael's trap.
“Yes, mom says nightmares are just because we read books about vampires.” Maximo clearly remembered the mother's words.
“If only I hadn't dreamed of my father dying, would they still be in this world?” eveline's voice rang out full of sadness.
Maximo does not stop. He wrapped his hand around Eveline and gently rubbed his sister's arm. He felt the same sadness. “Sometimes we can't choose something that wants or doesn't want to happen in our lives. But we've learned to defend what we've got,” Maximo said. Maximo who sat upright, became the most comfortable backrest for the younger brother. He had lost one brother, and he would not lose it a second time.
“I love you, Max.Thank you for keeping me,” said the girl as she kissed Maximo on the cheek.
Maximo just smiled, he rubbed Eveline's head and then kissed the woman's head with affection.
Behind them, there was a woman who secretly captured the moment of her sister in a tablet that Eveline used. Many photos he took. He looked back one by one, his heart warmed up to see the intimacy of the brothers.
“I love you guys,” muttered samantha, while peeping photos of Maximo and Eveline in the same picture.
