12. Swoop

A dozen orbs made of sticky thread were thrown by spiders. I swiftly dodged everything, “Tck, down you coward!.” I cursed at the monster I am currently fighting.

The way the spider fights is so careful, he will stand on a thread that stretches high, then attack using a sticky ball.

If like this continues I might run out of stamina, “Oh no...” one foot stepping on a sticky ball keeps me stuck.

The attack managed to injure the spider several times, until the monster gave a counterattack. Knowing what was going to happen, I tried to defend myself.

But I have no way of surviving anything other than using my arms.

Had I kept at least one iron centipede shell inside the item box, maybe I could have used it as a shield.

But I didn't think so smart as to fill the item box with rabbit daggers, so now I can only regret that action.

My scream broke again when my left hand was bitten by the spider. The bite force of the giant monster was unquestionable, my arm was instantly severed.

Crunch Crunch Crunch!

The sound of a bite rang out loud as if someone was chewing on bone and meat.

Losing a lot of blood with such excruciating pain made me no longer able to survive.

With a heavy breath I fell silent, only able to stare at the spider enjoying my broken left arm.

“Just get here.... Hope Roxy forgives me... Maybe he'll bite me in the afterlife.”

There is nothing I can do to escape this crisis. The only thing I can do is let go of everything.

My eyes closed. In my calmness I recalled a childhood where toothache almost drove me crazy.

I never thought that the pain that tormented me would vanish with just one unexpected event.

I felt saved at that time, maybe if the toothache lasted longer could make me act more recklessly.

I opened my eyes again...

But as I looked up, not only was the spider's mouth I saw, but I also felt as if several pairs of eyes were staring at me.

The afternoon was so dark, the wind was blowing strongly indicating the storm was coming soon.

Suddenly, all of nature experienced strangeness. Whether it was the wind, man or time all moved so slowly as if stalled by a mysterious power.

In the slowly freezing time, two unknown figures stared at Budi's fight with the giant Spider that was currently at a standstill.

“It was a very clear checkmate.” said a woman in a hoarse voice. The tone of his voice tells if the owner of the voice is so old.

The figure was stooped with thin facial skin and blackened teeth, wearing a black dress and a skull-patterned stick she made a pedestal to stand on.

The old woman talked about Budi's current state which looks impossible to win the fight against the spider monster.

“How much will this young man win if the wound in his left eye never existed?.” Ask another figure.

The voice from the figure was so clear as a stream of water. It was very calming when I heard it.

Unlike the old woman, the figure was younger and so beautiful, wearing a green kebaya with a golden crown on her head.

The old woman looked at Budi who was not moving, she rubbed her own chin as if she was thinking.

“80%.”

The short words the old woman gave her assessment made the other figure startled.

“Isn't that awesome?, Every job that young man has hasn't even broken through level 10 yet. But he was already able to fight the Assassin Spiders level 30.”

The clear voice so sounded very admiring Budi. Hearing the young lady's thoughts, made the old lady unhappy.

“Hemp, what's the point, he will eventually also die.” the old woman snorted in annoyance, “It's unfortunate that the two strongest titles vanished from this world just like that in vain.” the hoarse voice sounded full of anger.

The old woman continued to babble, while the young woman only looked at Budi's face with regret.

The young lady closed her eyes and turned around to leave the place followed by the old lady behind her.

But suddenly the sky shone brightly, a light radiated from the sky towards the surface.

Like the roots of a plant, the light forms a fiber, winding like uncontrolled but directed to a point.

A lightning bolt descended to the earth, striking right behind the two women.

They both were so surprised.

Like the water of a lake being pelted with a boulder, the calmness like the water that the young lady showed began to dissipate,

“Deus Ex Machina.” murmured in a soft voice.

The look on his face was like a sea that began to roll in waves.
