The Adventure of the Light-Bearer

The Adventure of the Light-Bearer
CH. 8 - The Lost Hernand

After a long walk along the path, Levin and the woman finally found a village large enough to be in front of him.

Levin stepped towards the village while carrying the woman on his shoulder. His legs started to limp after he got to the village, but he still insisted on walking, looking for someone who could treat the woman.

At that time people were wandering everywhere, many merchants and buyers were bickering on the business, only a few people were paying attention to Levin and the blood-stained woman, he said, the rest are too busy with their jobs. Then a child leaning against the wall ran up to Levin.

"Follow me sir! The woman's wounds looked severe, I knew someone who could treat her" a child told Levin, pointing somewhere and then running towards it. Levin just nodded and followed her from behind.

"Come in! And don't worry too much about your boyfriend, he'll be fine. My father is a man who treats wounds like this!" the little boy said with a smile, then ran away leaving the two of them.

The house was quite large and was located in a fairly open place. The house is made of strong wood and stone, the height reaches about six meters and up. Levin pushed the door and entered the house. The owner of the house who was walking back and forth and spontaneously looked towards Levin.

"Oh my god! For the sake of loch ness' teeth quickly lay him here!" the owner said, pointing to the bed next to him.

"He's bleeding pretty badly, but don't worry I'm an expert on this. I'll give him aneste's medicine... Oh gosh! Why did the medicine disappear at a time like this? And where is that stupid Hernando? Comeon!" the owner said as he ruffled his closet, and then poured some liquid into one bottle.

"I'm sorry, sir, maybe you should wait here for a while. I sent that spice seeker named Hernand and he hasn't been back since yesterday. He should have brought along a blue vervel plant that could hasten the regeneration of wounds like this, but he had not returned yet. I don't know what he's doing right now, maybe go to that Safa girl. May the Kaliph curse him!" he told Levin, while cleaning up the woman's wounds.

"Can I help you, sir? You look a little fucked up. I'm gonna find that plant and give it to you, just tell me where it is, or maybe you want me to find Hernand?" levin asked, carrying a bandage on one of the tables and wrapping it in his hand.

"What's? No no, you don't have to trouble yourself. You look so tired, sir, take a rest. I'm sure I can treat this lady without that plant" the medic said as he did his job.

"Come on... What if I go find Hernand, and you cut the medical bills for this woman? I only have a few silver pieces with me, let me work for you as the cost" Levin said. The medic fell silent for a while, then walked up to Levin and grabbed his shoulder.

"Well, if that's what you want. You'd be very helpful if you could find that Hernand. I told him to look for spices in the lake of Dalas, westward from the main gate of the village. I don't know if the man is still in the lake or at the home of his girlfriend, Safa, not far from the lake. I think you can find clues in those two places, but if you can't find them, bring along the blue vervel plant embedded around the lake, and I'll still cut the pay." said the medic while giving the lying woman a drink.

"All right, I think I'm leaving now. The sooner the better." Levin said, he left the place.

Levin then walked towards the main gate in the village, which had two eagle statues at each corner of the gate. There is a small path that leads to the west, he believes the path leads to the lake Dalas, he followed it.

Far enough away he stepped, he saw the ranks of houses on the edge of the path. He looked to the left right to find someone he could ask, which one of the houses was Safa's house, Hernand's girlfriend. He then saw a mother who was planting something in a pot in front of his house.

Levin approached the mothers and bowed.

"Good day, may I ask you something? Where is one of these houses that Safa owns?" levin asked with a smile.

"I am Safa myself, what is it?" said the woman as she raised her eyebrows.

"I'm looking for a missing person, he's called Hernand. Do you know where he is?" levin asked while raising his eyebrows back. The woman was then shocked, to the point that she dropped the spoon of the plant she was holding onto the ground.

"Ma.. I'm sorry, I think you know where he's going. I didn't mean to.." The woman then lay unconscious on the ground. As soon as Levin could see someone looking at him in the second-floor window of Safa's house, he was shocked and disappeared instantly. After that there was a sound of people coming down the stairs and opening the door of the house, the man then approached Levin.

"What did you do to my sister Safa! Go away or I'll stick this spoon in your throat!" shouted the man while brandishing the spoon of Safa's plant upwards.

The man was about twenty-five years old, looking younger than Safa. He wears a warm jacket with a back that is hairy like wolf fur, he wears strange pants, which are tight shorts like women's pants.

Levin apologized to the man and rushed to the river. She did not expect Safa to be like that. As he walked faster, he repeatedly looked back to make sure the person did not follow him from behind and stuck a spoon of plants into his throat. Levin arrived at the lake Dalas, and walked towards the lake.

"God, what kind of day is this. First of all the cave, kept the bandits locked up, now it's a madman who sticks a spoon into the windpipe" Levin said, washing his hands in the lake.

"I think I'm going to find the blue plant and take it to the cure, I don't have a clue where the Hernand is" Levin said, while frowning looking for blue vervel plants in the lake area. He then saw a bunch of blue plants in one of the northern corners of the lake, he then walked to the edge of the lake and observed the plants.

"Surprisingly, there are no traces of shredding between these plants. Did Hernand really go here?" levin asked as he plucked the plants and put them behind his pants pocket. He walked back, and his feet were plunged into a deep hole on the shore of the lake.

"What the fuck? What kind of crazy guy digs a hole here?" levin shouted while trying to get his foot out of the hole. He patted his dirty pants and looked into the hole. There was a small object glittering in the hole, it was a gold coin.

Levin then lowered his body and put his hand into the hole to bring the object. He then held the gold coin up, the gold was an old model gold depicting king Jonathan, the second king of the kingdom of Livermore.

"Gold! What is this gold doing in that hole? Wait, don't don't..." Levin then paused for a moment. His face was blank thinking of something. He stared intently into the hole and ran fiercely towards the village.

Levin stopped in front of Safa's house and knocked on the door.

"Go suck! We don't need your questions!" shouted a man in the house. Levin knocked on the door again.

"Come Hernand! You don't want me to report you for the treasure, do you?" levin shouted in a threatening tone.

There was the sound of someone running on the top floor, he went down the stairs in a hurry and opened the door.

"Ma.. Come inside! Please don't tell anyone about this gold, ka.. We'll give you rations! We promise!" said Hernand, the man wearing the wolf-feathered jacket.

"It is with pleasure, Hernand the spice seeker" said Levin, who sat in the room. Hernand approached him.

"How do you know all this? Who told you? Are you a detective?" asked Hernand in a soft voice.

"Nobody told me, Hernand my brother, and I'm not a detective either. It may be true, said the goddess Hartlova, that to hide a cunning is more difficult than to look for it, for the smell of cunning is too pungent that in any way conceals it, it will eventually smell too." levin said with a smile.
