The Adventure of the Light-Bearer

The Adventure of the Light-Bearer
CH. 19 - The Fallen Hero

The black chains clad in the altar then disappeared without a trace as Levin turned his head towards it. Levin was in a daze for a while, he turned left right to look for the chain, but he was convinced that the chain disappeared like what happened to the dragon named Vaxhella earlier.

Levin then touched the casket cover made of stone, he shifted it slowly, hoping for no traps or bright light that required him to flip over and close his eyes. He opened the whole box.

There are human bones in it. The bone was holding a sword in his chest. The sword looked very strong and beautiful. Levin took it and flipped it around, his eyes twisting and turning carefully observing every detail of the sword. The beautiful sword was made of iron which was quite strange, the iron was very strong and there was not the slightest rust attached, there was a small engraving on the iron of the lower end of the sword, the engraving was inscribed 'Varan Fretha's'.

"The Fretha! This sword belongs to the Safa Fretha family! Perhaps this was what his family's hidden treasure meant! Maybe the thousands of gold is just a symbolism, that this sword is worth more than thousands of gold, I must return it to Safa!" levin shouted excitedly in his heart.

Levin then looked back at the chest, making sure he didn't leave anything in there. There was nothing left in there except the bones of the man named Varan Fretha, the coffin was clean without any cobwebs or insects. Levin then closed the chest back slowly, he took a few steps back and clenched his hands on his chest, then bowed his body as a sign of respect to Varan Fretha, a royal warrior who slaughtered the Vikings at the Livermore mine.

The young man inserted Varan's sword into the shell of the sword belonging to the bandit that Clea had killed in the previous tomb. The sword was too long so that it pierced through the shell made of hard cloth, Levin ignored it and walked away from the cave which could also be called the 'tomb of the hero.

The sound of the wind was hissing in Levin's ear, he inhaled the air in the forest with a face of relief. The birds are still chirping with excitement, the temperature there is getting hotter and stinging due to the sunlight. Levin looked at the sky, he looked at the location of the sun and raised his hand to the sun to know the time, he learned the technique from a slave guard who tortured him while he was still working for the kingdom of Crescabes.

Levin steps away from the place towards the village where he leaves his female friend, Clea. He was a little dazed by the place, he saw left right looking for the right path, because back then there were two paths that led towards the windshield of the village.

He was a little sure of the right path, for it was the impression that the chariot had turned as he watched him in the distance, but his mind was still so blurred that he was not too sure.

"A.. God, I'm careless. I don't know where I'm going. But staying here won't solve the problem, I'm forced to go to the right path." Levin said in his heart, he then followed the path.

Levin walked into the depths of the forest, his round, green eyes twisting around the dense forest. It was raining, and Levin was hoping to find someone or a house to ask for directions or shade.

After a long time he walked, he saw a large wooden house in front of him. Levin stepped in that direction to find the owner and asked where the village he did not know was.

Someone then jumped out of the door of the house, making Levin shocked and turned his body due to the sound of a very loud door slam. The man looked very panicked, sweat soaked his forehead, his round glasses covered by his disheveled hair, the man was then shocked and delighted as he looked towards Levin, he shakes his shoulders.

"Please! Help us, sir! No one can help us now but you, please!" pinta the guy who was then he knelt to Levin.

"Ma.. Come inside! You must see this horror with your own eyes!" said the bespectacled man while leading Levin into the wooden house.

The man took Levin to the right of the house which looked like a living room, it was very disheveled, there were many broken and piled wooden chairs, pots made of clay were smashed and the soil scattered throughout the room. The bespectacled man tugged at Levin and pointed at a brown door in the room with trembling hands. Levin opened the door and went inside.

Levin was surprised when he saw a woman tied to a mattress with a white cloth and tightly wrapped around her body. The woman thrashed, her mouth tied by a cloth and her eyes spewing out water. Her pretty face was flushed with pain, her long hair was a disheveled blond yellow, there were some red marks on her hands as a result of being pressured by the cloth that bound her. The young man in glasses pointed at him.

"To... Help her! I beg you to help my girlfriend. At.. He lost his mind all of a sudden. I don't know what happened to him, when I went to his house he had gone on a rampage smashing things around him" said the glasses-clad young man as he stroked his cloth on his forehead.

"Isn't there anyone else you can ask for help? A medic or something like that maybe? Because you know, I don't understand anything about any of this, I don't know what to do" Levin said. He realized that during the journey he had been on, it was confusion that he often experienced rather than fear and pain. While the glasses-clad young man shook his head.

"There is a village not far from here. But my energy was lost to him, so I couldn't take him there. I don't know why he was so strong, when I tried to stop him, he scratched me and slammed me so easily" the young man said, pointing at some claw wounds on his hands and neck. He then continued.

"The woman is a gentle woman. At.. He is a quiet person and does not talk much. I don't understand what happened to him. It was fortunate that I was able to displace him in his room and tie him up." continued the young man, he opened his round glasses and wiped the tears that came out with his hands.

"Where's the woman's family? Does he live here alone?" levin asked, he saw the woman who was still thrashing in her bed.

"He lives alone here. Alisa works as a seller of medicinal plants to repel boredom so that she never lacks financially. But... I don't know what's happening to him right now. L'm... I don't know what to do." said the glasses-clad youth while holding his head with both hands and squatting down. Levin frowned, he was thinking hard.

"So I was going to the next village to find a medic. But.. I'm not sure I can leave it here. I'm afraid he can break away and hurt himself again. Goddess Hartlova help us!" shouted the young man in a soft voice. Levin then came up with an idea.

"We can't just stand here and do nothing. We have to hurry, you go to the village and call the medic here. I think it's a secluded place and there's no one else we can count on. I'm going to go where she used to look for that plant, do you know where it is?" ask Levin. The young man stood up and put up his glasses swiftly.

"Y.. Yep. Usually he often looked for medicinal plants in the hills of Nebu. But yesterday the day after he said to me that he would look for a rare plant and go to Mount Fer.." The young man's face then shriveled, he remembered something that had been missed for him. A forbidden place, filled with danger and deadly creatures, it overshadowed his mind.
