CH. 34 - Shapeshifters

Levin and the young woman ran. Levin's hand was led by the woman who led the way, saying she had an idea and would execute the lizard with her plan.

"Slow down! It's so dark in here!" levin shouted, the woman ignored him and continued to run quickly.

"I can see in the dark, don't let go of my hand." replied the woman.

They both ran pretty fast. As Levin tries to see the blurred surroundings, he senses the lizard creature following him even though he cannot see it.

Levin was surprised when he saw a lake before him, they stopped and Levin observed the place, where it was a lake occupied by Llemas.

"Why are we here? Don't you know about Llema." The woman pushed Levin and made him fall to the ground. The lizard creature that tried to push Levin into the lake missed, so his body almost splashed into the lake.

"A little more." muttered the woman who had already planned the strategy and knew the lizard was going to attack Levin. "But feel this!" he shouted while pointing his staff at the lizard creature and caused a fast light and exploded on the ground, unfortunately the creature jumped up and avoided it.

"What exactly are you planning? Throw it into the lake?" levin asked while standing up and opening his sword.

"Yes... But unfortunately I ran out of mana... We need another plan." said the woman gasping for breath. The lizard creature disappeared from the sight of the two young men.

"Wait... Whatisthis? Can you feel it?" the young lady asked, Levin nodded.

"Yes, I feel two other creatures around here, the other one must be Llemas" said Levin, the young woman then looked at him quickly.

"Llemas? You mean the fish monster that haunts the waters of New Vamor? How do you know that?".

"I talked to him this afternoon, he asked me to kill the lizard" Levin said, looking out at the lake and Llemas there, he was looking at the two of them. "I think the lizard is aware of Llemas' presence and is hiding in the trees right now, look back."

The woman looked back towards the lake and saw the face of an enormous fish floating above the lake water. It was terrible, but the woman knew it wouldn't hurt her.

"That lizard thing is still around here, it's hiding on a tree trunk somewhere. The energy is spreading, I don't know where it is exactly. I wonder why he's not hiding and fighting us" Levin said. The woman then looked at him.

"Fear, somehow the creature is afraid of you. The creature did not plan to escape before, maybe the previous words were just a bluff. The creature was just like a human, he could feel fear and other emotions, but it seemed like he was a mental alchemist, he could change his emotions with anything he wanted just by dancing." said the woman.

"Then he was after me... Maybe to find information about Ramon's location. Or maybe to kill me because I'm the Sagmorat, maybe." Levin said in his heart.

"The fish... Is he on our side?" ask the woman.

"Yes, why?"

"I knew the lizard could swim. I've seen lizards swim using their tails and legs to turn, don't tell me you don't know that..."

"Ma.. Sorry, I don't know. But the advantage is that now we have a new friend, right?" said the woman with a sweet smile to Levin. Levin's face flushed.

Llemas then got up, his body that looked like a long catfish body stretched upwards, the creature bowed its head to Levin, hinting Levin to immediately hold the crystal he had in his hands. Levin took the crystal and made it shine on each other. A terrible whisper was then heard again, the longer the voice became clearer, Levin could then hear Llemas' words in his head clearly.

"Use your sword to find Sagmorat. Pile the sword up and use your light magic to find it." said Llemas. Levin then took a surprised breath, he remembered something.

"Be.. Also true. I've done that before and tracked it down with my light magic. Thank you for reminding me." said Levin, he put the crystal back in his pocket.

Levin opened his sword and pointed it upwards. He then let out a light from the sword, the light gathered and highlighted a lush place with trees. A figure was seen there, he was the lizard creature.

"I.. That's her! He's hiding on a tree trunk again! Now what should we do? Where I've run out." said the woman to Levin. Levin smiled sinisterly looking at the lizard, he raised his chin and walked towards the lizard creature who was just silently looking at Levin.

"I just realized something. Many old witches use magic to fight back magic. It turns out that something escaped here, the lizard creature will not be hurt even with magic even as long as he realizes the attack because of the body of the lizard. But what if," Levin raised his sword higher. "I turned him back into a human!" his yell. The light that came out of the sword became brighter and warmer, the light was the same as the light that he used to treat the villagers who were exposed to the lizard creature's magic poison.

The lizard creature was shrouded in light, little by little its body turned into a naked human. His feet could not hold his human body in the trunk of a small tree, until he finally fell to the ground, right in front of Levin.

"Many things I want to ask you. But our time is up, goodbye, Genta." Levin thrust his sword into the body of the heavily bearded old man who was stark naked.

Levin took his sword back, and a black light came out of Genta's mouth. That light is what Ramon might mean by Lost Souls or a lost spirit, he is a cursed Atlantean creature. The light then disappeared. The woman ran towards Levin.

"Cursed spirits. They disappeared because this world was not their place anymore. But strangely, they should not be able to control one's body completely for that long, even that spirit gave him magic power, it was impossible to happen" the woman said. Levin then looked at him, the sun appeared to give a calming impression.

"You know a lot about magic. Who are you really?" ask Levin.

"Surely, we have not been acquainted all this time. I'm Merasus, I'm an orphaned sorcerer from Dertre village, nice to meet you." The woman bent her body.

"I'm Levin Awaru, nice to meet you and thanks for the help."
