Take My Heart's
UNFOCUSED

"Good kids. Enough to get here before our lesson today. Do not forget to prepare yourself next week," said Bu Nina reminded. Ms. Nina then took her bags and books at the teacher's desk, and stepped out of the classroom.

Feeling that Bu Nina's figure was nowhere to be seen anymore, the class residents hurriedly stuffed their books into the bag, then with quick steps towards the classroom door. Despite the rush out of class, they look very excited. They don't seem to care about each other. It seemed, they were greatly relieved of all the lessons that had ended.

One by one the class members left the classroom. Khalisha was still sitting in her chair. His books are still left on the table. His eyes kept on the blackboard, but his mind looked blank.

"You're not coming home, Lis?" tanya Mayang stood in front of Khalisha.

Mayang's voice suddenly disperse Khalisha's daydream. He glanced at Mayang at a glance, then turned to his books on the table. One by one he put the book in a bag. His mouth remained tightly closed, making Mayang feel neglected.

"Emm.. we go home together yuk, Lis," asked Mayang to fill the gap between them.

Again Mayang was disappointed. Khalisha still did not respond to his words. It's just, he feels weird about Khalisha. Although his facial expression was always flat, his demeanor looked slightly different from his usual days. He felt that something was troubling Khalisha's mind.

"Lis, you're okay, right?" ask her carefully, "if you are sick, you tell me. I'll take you to the hospital."

Mayang's words shocked Khalisha. His eyes now turned to Mayang. During his school days, only this time there was someone who was worried about him other than his grandparents. Even so, his face remained flat, as if nothing had happened to him.

"Why can you think like that?"

"Today you look different than usual" replied Mayang honestly.

"Different than usual? What's different?" tanyanya's confused.

"I haven't known you for a long time. Maybe if calculated including today, it's only two weeks. But, little by little I began to get used to it with your attitude. Your expression is always the same every day, but I can see something different from your silence today. Your silence today looks like there is something you are thinking about" Mayang said.

Khalisha. That's grand. Though Mayang only knew himself, and it was still not too close, but Mayang could realize if something was disturbing his mind. Just this time there was someone who cared about him at school. Although he often ignored her, Mayang never once shunned him.

"I noticed that from this morning you did not focus on the same lesson. Last time I was asked about Ms. Nina, you looked really surprised. You're not usually like this, Lis. No matter what questions your teacher asks, you are usually calm when answering them. It's clear that you were daydreaming again," said Mayang, "actually you are what?"

"I'm fine" replied Khalisha.

"If you have any more problems, you can tell me the same story. Don't keep it yourself. Your feelings will be relieved later," Mayang persuaded.

"There's nothing I can tell you" she replied coldly.

Mayang breathed heavily. From the beginning he had guessed that Khalisha would not want to talk about the problem.

"Yes, if you don't want to tell a story" he said, giving up. Both eyes stared at the class. "Go home, Lis! Our class's empty, uh."

That's all he can say. He could not impose his will on Khalisha. He approached her, trying to make friends with her. He did not want the relationship he built was just destroyed because of his curiosity.

"Lis, I'll play your house sometime, okay?" he asked, but really didn't ask. More precisely, it had only just filled the void between them since then.

Khalisha did not respond to Mayang's question at all. Both of his legs continued to step, but he did not pay attention to the road at all until finally his feet tripped over a stone. Seeing that, Mayang hurriedly caught Khalisha's arm so as not to fall.

"Are you okay, Lis?" ask Mayang worriedly.

"I'm not okay. Thanks for catching me."

Mayang was shocked to hear it. This was the first time he had heard Khalisha thank him. Unknowingly, he smiled happily. Finally, there was little progress in his friendship.

"What the hell are you, Lis? The lesson time also you daydream continuously," he asked curiously.

"I'm looking for a job" answered Khalisha briefly.

"Search work? How do you find a job?"

"I need money."

"Need money?! How can? Does your father not work?" the question is getting curious.

Khalisha did not answer. Behind that flat expression of his, there was a hint of sadness emanating in both of his eyes. Subconsciously, Mayang's question made the hard-won bad memories reappear in his mind.

"Why, Lis? Did I say it wrong?" tanya Mayang looked strangely.

"Come, go home!" the elbow returned to its feet.

Although confused and filled with curiosity, Mayang also stepped out of the school yard. In his heart, he felt bad for Khalisha. It seemed, there was a remark of her that had offended Khalisha.

Today is a tough day for Khalisha. How not. Not a single subject matter entered his brain. From the beginning to the end of the lesson, he was completely unfocused. He was shocked when he got a question from the teacher. It is not like his usual style. Whatever problems he was facing, he could always put himself in. He can always separate when he has to think about solutions to his problems, and when to focus on the things that are his future.

This time, however, he could not separate the two. Grandpa and grandma's conversation two days ago really bothered her mind. Until now, he still did not know how to ease their burden. Moreover, the difficulty in getting a job, of course, makes it even more frustrating.

Thinking about their conversation, made him think that he was a useless grandson. It should be in old age, they do not have to work hard. Enjoying alone time at home with their children and grandchildren, it is the most appropriate thing to do in old age. But all they have is themselves. His grandfather and grandmother treated him like a very valuable person. No matter how tired they are, even though they only have a little money, but it does not make them give up to give their best to him. They never complained or asked him to help them work.

Khalisha heaved a heavy sigh. The only thing he could do now was study hard, maintaining the rank one he had difficulty obtaining. Although his grandparents always said he was proud of him, but still his heart felt unsettled if it did not help them find money.
