The clock shows at 9 p.m. Khalisha is still faithfully engaged with her book. However, what he read was not a single sentence that entered his brain memory. Today his mind could not focus at all.
Khalisha exhaled violently. He leaned back in his chair and closed the book. Freely he opened the book and forced to read it, his mind just kept on being fixed on something else.
Since he came home from school this afternoon, his brain kept thinking about what Daniel said in the back garden of the school. Although he tried to divert his mind by doing various activities at home, but still Daniel's statement of his feelings made him unable to focus on doing anything.
Tok...
The sound of knocking on the door blew away Khalisha's daydream. He immediately got up from his desk and went to the door of his room.
The door to the room opened slowly. It looks like grandma is standing with her hands carrying a tray containing a glass of milk and a plate of cake. Without saying anything, Grandma stepped inside Khalisha's room. Both of my grandmother's eyes were staring at Khalisha's study table. A book appears to be on the table. Grandma smiled little. It seems he came at the right time. Grandma finally put the tray on the study table, then sat on Khalisha's bed.
Khalisha approached Grandma. Rarely do grandmothers deliver milk and snacks at night. I don't know if there's any wind that Grandma did it. Rather than being curious, he sat down at his desk.
"Grandma's Tumben brought milk and cake. What's up?"
Grandma sighed. "Aren't you supposed to bring your own grandkids milk and cookies?"
"That's not what I mean, Grandma. Just a tumben. Not usually Grandma is like this."
"There is, Lis. After all you're done studying," said granny smiling, "eat the cake dong, Lis! Grandma's tired of it."
"Oh my goodness, Grandma. Afraid that the cake will not be eaten. Just calm! The same milk cake must have ludes in my stomach" joked Khalisha.
Grandma was surprised to hear that. It's the first time Grandma's heard Khalisha joking. Usually Khalisha always talks seriously, no matter in any situation. It was great to see the change in her grandson.
"What do you want to talk to?" guess Khalisha. With her eyes still staring at Grandma, she picked up the cake and ate it slowly.
"Kok you know Lis if Grandma wants to talk to you?" ask grandma curious.
"Of course I know, Grandma. Grandma would rarely go here with the same cake milk. Usually if you bring a snack, Grandma would want to talk to me, right. What's Grandma talking about?"
"Grandma'd like to ask, what is your relationship with Daniel? You've been dating her?" ask grandma curious.
Khalisha suddenly coughed. He was shocked to hear the question from his grandmother. In a hurry he took the milk beside the cake and sipped it to half a glass.
"Eat it, Lis, if you eat slowly. The sprain will be," said the grandmother advising.
Khalisha. He did not reply to his grandmother's words. I don't know why today the topic of conversation is not far from Daniel. While at school, he was already shocked by Daniel's feelings for her, and now he is again surprised by grandmother's questions about his relationship with Daniel.
"Where, Lis?" ask grandma back.
"Where's what?" ask Khalisha pretending not to know.
"Where is your relationship with Daniel your boyfriend?"
"Okay, Grandma," Khalisha replied.
"Then anyway? My grandmother did not believe, yes. It looks so good that Daniel likes you, Lis, "grandmother said in disbelief.
Khalisha exhaled a long breath. It was hard to hide anything from my grandmother. Just from the movements alone, grandma could already guess.
"Jawab dong, Lis! Don't make Grandma curious" said the grandmother rather urgently.
"My relationship with Daniel is still the same as before, still just the same employer as the maid," replied Khalisha honestly.
"You don't have any feelings for Daniel?"
"I don't know either, Grandma," replied Khalisha puzzled. He himself did not know whether what he felt for Daniel was like it or not.
"You mean, Lis? Grandma did not understand," asked the confused grandmother.
Thirst makes Khalisha again take milk and drink it until it runs out. Since this afternoon, he had felt that he needed someone to give him advice.
"Actually this afternoon at school, Daniel expressed his feelings for me, Grandma. She said she likes me and wants me to be her boyfriend."
A smile was certainly seen on Grandma's lips. Grandma was happy because there was a guy who liked Khalisha for who she was.
"Trus, what do you answer?" grandma asked, getting curious.
"That's the problem, Grandma. I'm confused about whether to answer Daniel. I want to reject it is not good, but also want to accept my feelings are still not clear with him," replied Khalisha expressed what had disturbed her mind.
"It's not clear what you mean? If you speak clearly, Lis. Let Grandma not be confused."
"Honestly yes, Grandma, I feel comfortable near Daniel. Daniel treated me well, just like Mayang."
"It seems that Daniel has his own position in Khalisha's heart. May Daniel melt Khalisha's cold heart, "the inner grandmother hoped.
"When Daniel what? She gave you time to answer?"
"Daniel asked me to give him a chance to make me like him."
Grandma nodded her head slowly. Grandma understood what her granddaughter felt. Khalisha must be confused by all this. After all, this is the first time a man has expressed his feelings for Khalisha.
Grandma got up and approached Khalisha. His hands gently stroked Khalisha's head, trying to give her granddaughter peace.
"According to Grandma, you just give Daniel a chance. The human heart no one knows. Maybe someday, you'll like Daniel."
"I did give him a chance, Grandma," Khalisha said, "but, am I not outrageous, Grandma?"
"You mean, Lis?" grandma asked confused.
"I gave Daniel a chance to make me like him, but what if I still don't like Daniel? I'm not feeling good. I gave him a chance, but I rejected him too. Shouldn't I give him a chance, Grandma? I don't want to hurt Daniel, Grandma."
Grandma gave a small smile, then said, "Grandma don't think you're mistaken for Daniel's chance. Let him prove his feelings first. If you accept or reject his feelings, you are honest with your own feelings. Daniel was a good boy. Grandma's sure, she can definitely appreciate whatever your decision is."
"Is that right, Grandma?" khalisha asked doubtfully.
"of course. That feeling cannot be forced, Lis, unless God does it. If you still don't like Daniel, how else. But, if you refuse Daniel, you speak well of him, Lis."
"Yes, Grandma. I get it."
Seeing the milk and cake that had been used up, the grandmother took the tray. "Grandma's out, Lis. You better get some sleep now. The lesson is continued tomorrow."
Grandma stepped out of Khalisha's room. Grandma was very pleased with Khalisha's change in attitude. The long-awaited thing finally happened as well. The cold Khalisha slowly began to change. Rarely could grandmother talk much with Khalisha. Every time you talk, you are the one who talks the most. The hope from then until now is only one. Grandma only hoped that someday, her grandson returned cheerful as before.
