30 Minutes have passed. The atmosphere of the school was very quiet. There are only a few teachers and Mr. Boni the school guard who still survives in the office. The UKS door is still wide open. Looks like a man is still loyal to accompany a girl who is lying in bed. Yeah, who else if not Daniel and Khalisha. After Daniel managed to persuade Khalisha who did not want to be left alone, Daniel asked Mr. Boni for permission to remain in the UKS until Khalisha's condition improved. The teachers who overheard immediately gave permission and some also gave Daniel two packs of bread and mineral water. After obtaining permission, Daniel immediately returned to the UKS and accompanied Khalisha.
"Lis, eat first. You must be hungry" said Daniel, worried about Khalisha's situation.
Khalisha stared at Daniel and tried to get up. Daniel helps Khalish wake up and rest him in bed. Khalisha's stomach is hungry, but she has no appetite to eat.
"Eat this bread first, Lis! It is good for a temporary stomach. Let's not drown anymore. It's 3 o'clock. The canteen is closed. Even though you ate lunch, but it was what time. If your stomach is not filled, then you will hurt again" said Daniel.
"You also ate his bread" Khalisha replied with a gaze that pointed at the bread in Daniel's hand. He took the bread out of Daniel's hand. He could not bear to see Daniel who continued to worry about him.
Daniel looked at the relief. Khalisha is eating. Even if it was just bread, it was at least enough to make Khalisha's body energetic. As Khalisha wished, he ate the bread that one of the teachers had given him. No need to ask again. His stomach was also very hungry. Moreover, he only ate when the first break hour arrived.
"Daniel, let's go home, yuk!" bring Khalisha.
"You're better? If not, we are here first. I've also asked Mr. Boni for permission."
"But we're late here. Later you are sought again," he said feeling bad. Because of him, Daniel who should have gone home chose to accompany him at school.
"You don't have to worry about me. I'm used to going home late. Bi Nani also already knew that I came home late must have played at Nathan's, Andhika, or Bayu's house" explained Daniel.
"What about your mom and dad? Did they not find you?"
Daniel sighed, then said, "They're not looking for me. They have been out of town for a month. Don't go home, just call asking for news."
Hearing Daniel's words, Khalisha felt guilty. He shouldn't have asked Daniel that. In comparison, his life was much better than Daniel's. Although his life is short, but for matters of love, he got a lot of love from his grandparents.
"Don't put on a face like that! I'm really okay. I'm glad you want to depend on me" Daniel said as if he knew what Khalisha was thinking.
"Sorry." Only that word came out of his mouth. Even though Daniel said that, he still felt guilty for bothering him.
"Hey, didn't I tell you not to put on a face like that. I don't like it" Daniel said.
"Yes, sorry."
"Actually why were you? I saw you freaked out when you were told to get in the car?" ask Daniel in curiosity.
Khalisha. He didn't know if he could tell his past that he always wanted to forget.
"If you don't want to tell a story, that's okay" said Daniel disappointed. He hoped that Khalisha would be fully open to him.
Khalisha's tears immediately fell down her cheeks. No matter how hard he tried to forget it, those painful memories always haunted his life.
Daniel looked at the startled Khalisha who was suddenly crying. Just this time he saw Khalisha crying. He feels confused. He saw with his own eyes how Khalisha was able to get to bed in the UKS. He saw Khalisha standing in front of the open car door, which he thought was normal to make Khalisha afraid, even to the point of suffocation.
"Lis, yes. No crying! If you don't want to tell a story, that's okay. I really don't mean you, Lis. Don't cry anymore huh, Lis," he persuaded the confusion calmed Khalisha down.
Daniel could not bear to see Khalisha crying. His hand spontaneously rubbed Khalisha's shoulder.
"If it wasn't for me, my mom and dad wouldn't have come to that guy's house. They will definitely not be in an accident. Our car won't hit the truck" Khalisha said.
"That's not your fault, Lis," Daniel said, trying to appease Khalisha.
"No. It was all my fault. If I didn't whine at my mom and dad, ask them to come with me to celebrate that person's birthday, the accident wouldn't have happened. Obviously the guy doesn't like us, but I still want to celebrate his birthday. I'm sorry, Daniel. I regret. If I hadn't forced them back then, maybe we would be happy together now. I will not lose them" Khalisha said.
"Don't cry, Lis! It wasn't all your fault. It's all fate." Without consent, he embraced Khalisha. It hurts so much to see him like this.
"But if it wasn't for me, they wouldn't have died. They will not leave me. They died because of me. I'm a killer, Daniel. I'm murderer! I hate myself. I hate! I have killed them" Khalisha said, still blaming herself.
"No. You are not a murderer" replied Daniel trying to appease Khalisha, "all is the will of God. Do not oppose God's destiny. Even if you prevent them, they will still leave because it has become their destiny. Don't blame yourself, Lis. Let them go."
Khalisha was crying in Daniel's arms. What Daniel said was true, but to this day he still blames himself. It was hard to let them go.
Daniel never thought that behind his flat face, Khalisha had many wounds in her heart. Although he did not experience it, he could feel the pain and suffering Khalisha endured her grief alone.
"Is that why you're afraid to get in the car?" tanyanya remembered when Khalisha stood in front of the Mayang car door.
Khalisha nodded slowly confirming Daniel's question. "Since then, every time I wanted to get in the car, I remembered the incident. I can't forget my father and mother who died right in front of me."
"When did that happen?" ask Daniel in curiosity.
"When I was 6."
Daniel now understands. This has traumatized Khalisha. For a 6-year-old, he must be very frightened and continue to imagine the terrible event.
"Is that why you never smile?" tanyanya spontaneous. He also did not know why he could relate the incident to Khalisha who never smiled.
Khalisha nodded back. "My smile was gone after the incident. I fear. If I smile, I'm afraid the people I love will go away like my mom and dad."
Daniel let go of his embrace, then rubbed Khalisha's tears. "Don't be afraid to smile! Smiling does not make the people we love go away. You have to live happily. If your mom and dad see you like this, they'll be sad."
Khalisha. He was thinking about what Daniel said. He didn't know if he could live as happily as Daniel had said or not.
"I know it's heavy. But you have to try it" Daniel smiled, "we'd better go home now. You need a break at home."
Khalisha rose up, and again Daniel helped her. He also let Daniel break it. His body was still weak, his heart was very tired. Given the terrible past, it was not an easy thing for him. However, there was some relief she felt after telling Daniel. He felt the burden in his heart slightly disappear.
