Sunday opened his eyes again as the door closed again. He did not think how could Faris consider his kindness to be normal while others who get his kindness become carried away and hope more to him. Really annoying. Sunday snorted in annoyance and closed his eyes again and tried to expel the annoyance in his heart.
A phone went into Faris' cell phone. He was on his way to where his car was parked.
"Yes." Yeah." Faris's opening when picking up the phone. Next he only listened to the words of the person across.
"All right, I'll be right there." He then hung up and opened the car door to the police station.
Entering a room, Faris is escorted by a police officer. After entering the room, Faris sat on a chair with a table in the middle of the room. It's like an introductory room. Moments of waiting, the door opened again and someone appeared handcuffed by a policeman. Roni sat in front of Faris. The police who escorted him waited outside the room.
For a while the room was filled with silence between the two. Faris looked at Roni with a curious look.
"So, why Sunday?" Finally Faris opened her voice because she saw Roni who also looked at her cynically.
"You know why it's Sunday." Roni replied with a sarcastic smile. Hearing that Faris immediately knew what Roni meant.
"Who's Desy?" Ask Faris again.
"You forgot? You just forgot about it?" Roni sneering.
"I can't forget who he is. But who is he to you?" Roni threw away her face hearing Faris's words.
"How can you still enjoy your life happily while there are people who still cry over his passing."
"You mean?"
"His mother had to lose her sanity by losing the daughter she loved so much." Roni glazed over for saying that.
"You know, even up to this point her mother never slept well and ate well because she was always worried about her daughter never coming home from school. He always waited for her at the door. Wishing her daughter home brings a smile and a story about her days at school." Roni wiped her wet eyes with her handcuffed hands.
"I don't even know how to persuade my mother to accept Desy's departure. My poor mother, I can't do anything. The doctor couldn't even make him aware of the reality that was happening. The drugs that were taken only put him to sleep temporarily and consultations with psychiatrists have not been successful. The heavy pressure in his inner being made it hard to get up and accept the pain that had to be accepted." Roni was crying and even sobbed.
Quietly Faris looked at her pity. He did not expect it to go that far as a result of Desy's departure for his family. So that makes Roni want to avenge the death of his biological sister by hurting Sunday so that Faris also feels the same thing, as tortured as his mother.
Visiting time is over. Roni was taken back to his cell. Police have bagged Sunday's testimony so it didn't take long for the police to make Roni a suspect. At that time Roni was languishing in a boarding house, not in his own house because hiding was part of his plan after making a wretched Sunday. The detective is so deft that Roni's whereabouts are immediately known in a short time.
Faris leaves the police station where Roni is being held. Whatever Roni's reason, he still broke the law by planning to eliminate someone's life deliberately and must get legal action.
"You know, I think I'm lucky to get into the font. But seeing you there as well I feel like I'm not just lucky but more than that, I'm so very lucky." Faris' memory returned to Roni when she met him earlier.
"I feel like I have a chance to avenge Desy. Replying to him. And when I found out about your time with Sunday, I felt like I had to make you feel what we felt when we lost Desy."
Faris was still driving her car with an uncanny feeling. During this time he was not affected by people's conclusion that Desy died due to him. He always thought that Desy ended his own life and Faris did nothing to get Desy to do that. Even moments before Desy jumped from the school building, Faris was still chatting with her and showed no signs of Desy like depression. It is still as happy as usual. Or did Desy cover something from him? Faris tried to think of all the possibilities that caused Desy to do reckless things but he really did not know what made Desy end his life in such a way.
Desy is close friends with him and they are often together. But between their closeness, Faris and Desy never expressed feelings for each other. For Faris, Desy is indeed a good friend and very comfortable with him. Her cheerful nature made the people around her feel good about her.
Faris almost reached Font when a call from Kak Novi came into his phone. He immediately put bluethoot earphones in his ear.
"Yes, Brother."
"Where are you?"
"In front of the Font."
"I'm waiting for you in your room." Her sister replied coldly. Faris felt that something was wrong and immediately parked her car. After that he walked into the font. In some places he met with several officers. They greeted respectfully but afterwards whispered a look towards him. Faris felt strange because she felt she was being talked about by them. But then he brushed that thought as he entered the elevator.
Right, when he opened the door of his room, Kak Novi was already sitting on one of the sofas.
"What's up, brother?" Faris sat on the single sofa at the end. Novi's brother thrust a postel to Faris. Faris received with a strange look but then she saw the phone. An article with a head line bearing the name Font. Looks like it had something to do with yesterday's warehouse fire.
"What's this?"
"Read it over." Kak Novi's face was still cold with a sharp eye. Faris started reading it. Sentence by sentence and word by word.
"This is not true, Brother." Refuse Faris while returning her sister's phone.
"You think the public will also refute the news? It must be easier for them to read and judge you." Said Kak Novi while fixing his seat.
"It's not the truth."
"Then what are you gonna do? Refute the news? Does that not look like self-defense?"
"I have to defend myself because I'm innocent."
"Then how could Desy who likes you suddenly kill herself when she finds out you were dating another girl back then?" Novi looked straight at Faris.
"Not Brother, I'm sure Desy isn't. I know him very well."
"Then what was it like? Who's gonna believe you? Desy won't be able to testify either because she's gone."
"Come, but I'm sure it didn't cause Desy to die." Novi looked at his sister's confused face. He knows how his sister's playboy reputation is but either Faris wants to defend himself or indeed that's the case Novi doesn't know either.
What is clear is that the news circulating in the media has filled the minds of the public. The news contained about a warehouse fire in which there was an employee. And finally the clerk is known to be the girlfriend of the owner of the Font. Then the perpetrator who was Roni was caught and testified that he did it because it was based on revenge for the death of his sister who committed suicide jumped from the top of the school building due to heartbreak against Faris while still be in High School first.
This news has indeed become a rumor throughout Faris High School. But it's just gossip and there's no fundamental evidence. So there's no continuation after that. Until Faris graduated there were still people who thought Faris was the cause of Desy's death, but Faris tried not to be affected. He is quite sad because of the loss of friends as good as Desy, especially with the tragic death of Desy.
Faris let out a long sigh and leaned her head on the back of the chair behind her comfortable work desk. A few moments he closed his eyes. Her Papa just called as well after learning the news. Her mother even cried while talking to her on her Papi's phone earlier.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door of Faris' room.
"Come in." Faris's orders. A security officer Font entered from the door.
"What's wrong?"
"Look sir, in front of Font there are many media crews who want to interview you."
"really?"
"Yes, we tried to get rid of them but they were quite a lot and insisted on meeting you." Hearing that Faris kept quiet and thought.
"All right, tell them to wait."
"Good Sir." The security officer left Faris's room.
Faris was still with her thoughts. Thinking of all possible forms that occurred after he met the media crew. He was unlikely to avoid them as it would give the impression Faris was running away from them. Or worse they will think that Faris is really to blame too because it makes Roni have to take revenge on him.
Finally Faris stood up from his chair and went out to meet the media as he had told the security section of the Font. In front of the door of his room he could see Gina approaching Faris. It seems he really wants to come to her.
"Where are you going?" Tanya Gina looked worried.
"I'll go down to meet them."
"You're crazy?" Gina widened her eyes not believing Faris would face them.
"I'd probably be crazier if I didn't tell the truth."
"What truth? You have evidence that he killed himself, not because of you?"
"No, but I'm sure Desy's not that easy to do stupid things."
"Who will believe your words?"
"I don't know, but I have to explain to them." Faris then walked away from Gina. Gina was afraid that what Roni said was true. Because he also experienced something similar. When Faris treated him so well, he thought Faris liked him. So it hurts to know that it's just a friend's attention and that Faris likes someone else, not her.
But seeing Faris insist on explaining to the media what she believed, Gina doubted whether she could forbid Faris from making a statement in front of them. At this moment, Gina just stared at Faris who entered the elevator.
In the elevator Faris received a call.
"I heard you want to give a statement to those reporters."
"Yes." Yeah." Answer Faris briefly.
"Don't be stupid. Don't be stupid about your actions." Kak Novi's voice is rising.
"Leave Font from the back door of the building. I'll have someone pick you up there."
"No, I'm not running."
"You didn't know it would have a big impact on the font."
"Font won't be anything, brother. Even if I have to get fired from Font I'm ready. But, I cannot easily accept that this slander goes on without explanation."
"What explanation? What can you explain? You also have no evidence that you are completely innocent and not the cause of Desy's suicide."
"I know that. But I'll never run away from them so it'll make them more free to write everything that's more cornered me later."
"Where are you now?" Ask Novi in panic.
"I just got to the lobby and I'm gonna meet them."
"No, no, get out the back door of the building. I'll have the driver pick me up with my car." Faris did not answer and turned off the phone from her brother. Novi who knew his phone was on the breakup became more panicked and immediately went down to prevent Faris.
With a definite move Faris headed for the crowd of media crews in front of the Font lobby. His heart was a little nervous but he could not run away and was considered to be afraid of them. To him, they considered Roni's true statement to be more frightening.
Faris had already arrived at the front door of the Font. A security official opened the door for Faris. Seeing Faris emerge from the lobby, all the eyes of the media crew turned to swarm him by being detained by security officers Font there so they could not get too close to where Faris was standing. Flash after flash of camera started raining down on Faris. Faris stood firm with the courage he gathered.
"Sir Faris, is it true that the news was written about you?" One of the female reporters began asking questions to Faris and the others were also as simple as a bird chirp.
"Is it true that Desy's brother committed suicide because of a broken heart towards you?" Said another journalist.
"Have you had a relationship with the late Desy?"
"Then is it true that the Sunday brothers are your most recent girlfriends?" Hearing that Faris looked at the source of the voice but I don't know who made the question.
"How long have you and your Sunday siblings been dating?"
Questions were asked by the media as they pleased. Faris started to get caught off guard with them and started talking.
"Alright brothers. Give me a chance to explain everything..." The media crew slowly began to listen to Faris' sentence and stopped their questioning activities.
During his hospitalization, Sunday saw the news on one of the private television stations that clearly displayed Faris's face there. His heart suddenly skipped a beat to find Faris who was facing off against many reporters there last afternoon. Just then I heard the door opening. Sunday looked towards the door. Someone was standing there.
"France..." Bisik Sundays.
