"Yes, okay..." Faris hung up from Rima. The sky this afternoon is very bright. The sun feels almost a little bit in his head. Faris walked to his car. Her mother was still in the supermarket. This time she did not go with her mother as usual. Besides, there is also Mbak Laila who has helped inside. Being in the car seems more calming. It takes calm to think about the next step. Sunday began to know what was really going on. That actually Rima could not be betrothed to him because he was engaged to Herman.
What should he explain to Sunday? He hasn't even made Sunday really like it. Faris's phone vibrated the sign of a call up on her phone. Faris sighed heavily before receiving the phone call. This was the first time he did not want to receive a call from Sunday.
"Where are you?"
"In the supermarket."
"I want to talk to you. I hope you can see me soon."
"It looks like my hypnosis went well. You must miss me so much right now." Faris was still trying to casually respond to the cold tone of Sunday's voice with her joke.
"I'll wait for you at the ice cream shop later this afternoon after I'm off campus." Sunday deliberately did not respond to Faris' joke. It's not in the mood to joke. He just wants Faris' explanation of the scenario he's been doing all this time.
"All right..."
He said nothing more, and Sunday hung up. Faris leaned her head against the headrest. A really bad feeling. Along with that, her mother was seen coming out of the supermarket with a lot of groceries. Faris went down to help bring her the large bags of necessities in her house.
Sunday walk to the engineering faculty laboratory. But his mind was still filled with facts he had just obtained. So all this time Rima was the role of a maid in her skit with Faris.
Thinking about it more and more Sunday finally found another fact. That Faris invites her to the show of being her real pretend boyfriend she also plays a role to him that she will be betrothed to Rima. Like a charade in a charade. Complicated and confusing. How could Faris do this to him? Wh-wh-what for? Why lie to him and ask him to make a show? What was the motive behind Faris doing all this?
The laboratory door was in front of him. From the outside the room seemed quiet not to sound anything, a sign of no practicum inside. Sunday held the doorknob but with it someone opened the door from the inside. Sunday was a little surprised.
"Hey, you're here..." Sunday looked up at someone in front of him.
"Yes, oh I mean sir." Victor smiled at him.
"You can still call me brother."
"Ahh no, now it can no longer. Where can call the lecturer with the call 'Sister'. That's so disrespectful."
"Alright, you can call me 'Sir' when you get on campus. But if it's off campus just call me like before."
Off campus? Why are there words outside of college? Batin Sunday is still sensitive even though his mind is in a state of turmoil.
"Good Sir." Sunday smile.
"I have to go to class first. You know, I'm busy right now. I can no longer relax as usual. My schedule is very tight. I think it's like some kind of lecturer orientation period. So many tasks were given to me as if I were training at work." Victor chuckled after saying his outpouring of heart. Sunday could only respond with a smile as well. He doesn't want to talk much. Even said the rejection to Victor about the 'shooting' at that time Sunday was not in the mood. The contents of his head were just circling about Faris.
"I'll go first."
"Good Sir." Victor walked away leaving him.
"Oh yeah, I think I miss eating fried rice near your house. Let's eat there again sometime."
Maybe this is what he meant by meeting off campus. The Sunday again.
"Can, Sir."
"Thank you as a farewell."
"Greetings farewell?"
"Yes, we're going to split up as lab partners because I'm not a laborer anymore and change into your lecturer."
"Oh. yes, sir." Sunday scratched his non-itchy head with his wide smile.
Victor has completely abandoned him. Sunday entered the laboratory. Beni was sitting behind his desk. Sunday approached and looked forward to what task today was given for him.
"Sun, today please help me reinstall this latest version of PDF software. I've installed it on 5 computers over there and I'll do 2 rows next to it. The rest please install as well. Here's the master's program." Beni offers a flash with a capacity of 32 GB.
"Okay Brother." Sunday walked towards the computer that Beni had instructed.
🌸🌸🌸
"I'm home, brother."
"Okay, Sun."
Sunday left Beni in the lab itself. It seems he is still working on some things. And because Sunday's task was completed and the clock home also arrived then Beni also let him go home.
Entering the tavern, Sunday had yet to find Faris there. He also ordered pandan-flavored ice. Sweet and savory ice puter may be able to cool his head a little tired thinking since.
15 Minutes into his seat, Faris entered the tavern and walked towards him. Smile develops. Still as sweet as usual. The Sunday hull rumbled by the butterflies flying again. I don't know, he's almost frustrated over his ever-problem stomach.
"Have you been waiting for me?" Still with an angelic smile and her gentle gaze.
"Lumayan." Answer Sunday cold.
"I ordered first." Sunday nodded. Waiting for Faris with all the thoughts that scramble he wants to express. Faris returned with a cup of moccachino.
"Well, you said you wanted to talk to me about something. Is it good news that you hypnotized me so I actually fell in love with me?" Faris was still trying to make jokes. He knew that there was a thick cloud with thunderbolts blaring over Sunday's head. Perhaps soon there will be a storm that ravages him.
"So, how can Rima's sister be betrothed to you while she's already engaged to Mr. Herman?" Sunday without further ado. He is indeed not someone who is good at small talk and prefers to talk on the subject he wants to express.
"Oh so that's what you want to talk about." Faris took a sip of the hot moccachino a little and put it back on the table.
"I'm very curious. How can someone who is already engaged also undergo arranged marriage?" Sunday repeated and gave affirmation in his last word.
"I only asked for his help to play a show in front of you to be someone I would be betrothed to."
"For what?"
"So I have a reason to take you on a show, too."
"Why?"
"I want to show you that I'm not who you think I am."
"What do I think of you you know?"
"Yes, a sailor who is a playboy and likes to change girlfriends."
"But aren't you like that?"
"I'm not like that. When I become someone's girlfriend I will really love her and keep her feelings. And that's what I want to show you."
"I'm still confused by what you mean. Just because of that you lied to me for theatrical reasons? I really didn't think it through. I can accept you as a friend. The rest I don't care. A playboy or not that's none of my business. But you lied to me that's what makes me seem like a very stupid person. I can easily believe in your funny plan. Invited me to pretend to be dating for the reason of avoiding an arranged marriage. Oh my..." Sunday shook his head and felt very upset now. Faris had the heart to make it as a toy, a tool to run his jokes.
"That's not what I mean. I really didn't mean to make you my toy. But it's just me..."
"What's? You must have been so happy playing me all along. Directing me with the various scenarios you've created. I'm really like a doll you play with so easily."
"No Sun, I didn't mean it that way."
"Don't mean it like that? But the truth is you've done all that. Didn't you notice?" The tone of Sunday's voice rose. Someone sitting at a table nearby turned to look away because he felt disturbed.
"That's just your conclusion. You don't know the truth I never played you. I'm just confused how to get your attention. I can't get any closer to you because I'm a sailor. You're the anti-starch for sailors making me do all this."
"Oh so because I hate sailors then you can take revenge for all the sailors on this earth by playing me?" Sunday is getting fiery. Faris was more confused how to explain to Sunday in the right way. Sunday is out of control.
"Where might I do such a ridiculous thing to you. I'm not that bad. Just think about it I never."
"Then what? Why did you make me the object of your game? Am I that stupid to you? I'm not..."
"Because I like you." Faris cuts out the Sunday sentence.
Sunday was wide-eyed and tried to digest the sentence Faris who was now looking at him closely. His eyes imply seriousness. There was no doubt when Faris said that. So that suddenly and slowly but surely the heart of Sunday beating increasingly noisy. Seeing Faris who said nothing after his last sentence made Sunday start nervous.
"You..."
"I like you..." Repeated Faris more gently but as if giving the impression of affirmation. Trying to convince Sunday that he was serious about his words and did not want him to think again.
While Sunday could not find the right sentence to open his lips, the pounding of his chest turned into a beautiful but difficult feeling he explained. There was comfort, relief and I don't know what else but obviously it made Sunday melt where the ice cubs began to melt.
This twilight the sun dimmed further, hinting that he had to drown himself so that the moon would not hesitate to show its light again. Sunday & Faris are still facing off at the same table. Speaking but without words. Ask each other but not with a voice. Still enjoying the silence between them, Faris repeated his sentence again.
"I like you, love you, want to be with you always..."
