"Can you be with me now that I'm not a sailor anymore?" Faris' question made Sunday smile.
"I don't think you're gonna ask that." Sunday with the rest of his smile.
"Alright, I won't ask you again if it bothers you."
"One of them is that." And Sunday then.
"So, if I were still a sailor, there's little chance I could be with you."
"It looks so."
"You're totally consistent." Faris Gerrutu. Sunday smiled again.
It was the first holiday they spent together. Very simple but they are happy. Today, the work day has begun. Sunday came out of the boarding gate and walked down the alley.
"Hey lady, can I walk with you?" Sapa Faris who came out of the fence of his house with a very alluring angelic smile.
"No. I want to go alone." Answer Sunday briefly while showing off her sweet smile.
"Why you? You don't want to go to work with me?"
"I don't want everyone to think that's not about us."
"Thinking about what? The truth is we have a relationship." Faris is starting to rise.
"I don't want them to think I'm deriding your power. You're a boss and I'm a regular employee. Being the stepdaughter of a project manager alone I don't want people to know especially if you and I have a relationship."
"You're this. Besides who's gonna care who you are whose daughter and whose boyfriend you're with. It's because you're worrying too much about what hasn't happened."
"No, I thought about it and I thought keeping my identity a secret was the right way for me to work and make good friends at Font. No one's hesitating against me or using me instead." Obviously Sunday.
"Then when are we going to backstreet like this?"
"Mmmm..." Sunday seemed to think. "Until the time that has not been determined." Sunday giggling.
"What??? Why is it unclear when?" Faris glared at Sunday.
"I don't want a backstreet. I want everyone to know we have a relationship. I'll also explain to them that we've known each other since we haven't been in Font."
"You're crazy, huh. It would even make me look like an incoming employee because of a relationship."
"Ahh, I don't know. You're always arguing my words. Whatever you want." Faris then went back inside and entered his car. Sunday sighed heavily looking at that. Faris got out driving her car. He looks angry. Even when his car crossed Sunday, he did not look at him. Sunday breathed a heavy sigh.
This was the consequence he had to accept of having a special relationship with the higher-ups of the Font. Stepdaughter Om Rudi and Girlfriend Faris.
🌸🌸🌸
Sunday left the library after returning the books he had read. Faris seemed to be walking with a Design Tester from another team. They walked in inserts but Faris did not even glance at him at all. Sunday laughed at himself. Faris might still be angry at him.
Sunday entered the room and found Lita who was busy with some printout paper of her design. Mr. Dedi gave the results of his trial to Sunday. In a few days there is a program installation schedule that belongs to one of the clients.
In the afternoon, Sunday came down from the elevator and reached the ground floor. Usually this jam he would meet Gina but it seems like today did not enter work.
Has he not returned from Bali? Or is he too tired to go to work? Sunday sat down as he continued his steps out of the Font lobby. Simultaneously he saw Faris driving his car across and leaving the courtyard of Font.
"He's really that angry." Sunday smiled wryly looking at Faris' car away.
The afternoon air was starting to cool. The sun has already sunk by half and every second is sinking. Suddenly someone pulled his hand. Faris pulled Sunday into her yard.
"What the fuck?"
"I miss you." Faris' face looked at Sunday.
"Didn't we meet earlier in the Font."
"It feels so excruciating to just be able to look on without being able to touch you." Faris headed Sunday's shoulders with her fingertips.
"You think I'm laundry soap you're so dirty." Sunday shifted its stand.
"You know, even when I see you, I still miss you."
"Ahh, you're so alay." Sunday turned away the face hiding the hue on his cheek.
"Yes, you've met me. I'm h-home. I'm gonna take a shower and get some rest. I'm so tired." Sunday shook his head to the right and to the left to reduce soreness in his neck.
"Bring here, I'll massage you."
"What??? No, I don't want to." Sunday half screaming.
"If you don't want to already. Why are you hysterical. I want to fuck you." Faris narrowed his eyes investigating Sunday's exaggerated actions.
"I'm home already." Sunday leaves Faris.
"After the shower come back here."
"I'm tired, I'm going to sleep."
"Why me?"
"Not many reasons. Take a shower and come back here." Sunday pouted leaving Faris holding back his laughter.
After taking a Sunday bath back to Faris' house. Though he wanted to relax in his room but after coming out of the bathroom there were 10 missed calls on his phone and it was all from Faris. So he still has to go back to Faris' house now. Faris's gate is no longer in the lock.
"This guy, it's a habit not to lock the fence." Mumbled Sunday and went straight into the courtyard. He opened the door of his house too.
"Where is he?" When he arrived at the new living room he saw Faris squatting in front of a bonfire. Sunday approached.
"What are you doing there? Campfire huh?"
"Fire campfire? I'm making a furnace to burn fish."
"Burning fish?" Sunday sat crouching beside Faris. Faris glanced at him. The fire glow of the furnace made the face of Sunday form a silhouette with a reddish glow at the tip of his nose.
"Well, did you clean the fish yourself?" Sunday saw the cleaned fish in a tray.
"Yes, of course."
"I can't believe you can do this." Sunday probing.
"Look at my sweet fingers so full of wounds because of the fins of those naughty fish." Faris pointed his fingers to Sunday.
"Just get hurt."
"Hey, at least appreciate my efforts with praise. You like to sneer at me." Faris grumbling. Sunday's smile was more like holding back laughter.
"It's embers, put the fish on the stove." Sunday pretended to ignore Faris' spoiled attitude towards him.
All the fish they burned were gone. Those who are full are now sitting on the side porch of the house with the remaining puff of smoke from Faris's artificial furnace.
"Maybe this is the life of a couple. After dinner, sit down and talk." Faris then giggled to herself while sitting down to relax her legs.
"Who are you talking about?" Sunday drink the orange ice he made before eating.
"Our neighbor whose home is in Africa." Faris replied with annoyance. Sunday is always insensitive.
"Why are we in Indonesia but have neighbors in Africa? You're just there." Sunday chuckled.
"Bas on you." Faris is excited about Sunday.
"It seems like too much playing with algorithms, your mind is this weird." Sunday laughed now seeing Faris begin to rise in his emotions.
"Yes yes, you're just angry." Sunday still with the rest of the laugh.
"You know, I've always liked to see your pouting face. If you pout, you look a lot like a taddy bear doll. Your cheeks are so fluffy." Faris fingered her own cheek to see if she was like that now.
"Although it looks like a taddy bear but you're still this handsome. It makes me like to linger looking at you." Faris gasped with the phrase Sunday. This time he praised him handsome. Usually Sunday more often sneered. But this time Sunday is like saying it sincerely especially with a soft look like Sunday, making Faris so pounding.
"You really said that? I think the fish was so moaning that it made you stir up that." Sunday shakes. Faris then blushed in embarrassment.
"One more reason why I like you is because you're handsome. I'm also a normal woman who sees that from you. But that's not the only thing that makes me like you. Your sincerity convinced me of your love that made me realize that there is much more to it than just a profession. I decided to learn to change my point of view about one's profession and it was very unrelated to one's nature and attitude. If Papa leaves me and Mama it's because it's Papa's choice, not because he's a sailor." Sunday turned to look at Faris who was looking at him.
"Why is your mind open now? Why not just from before. I don't always keep chasing you. It's exhausting to always find a way to melt your heart." Sunday smiled looking at Faris's face who had no idea what expression she was showing.
"Thank you for changing my point of view." Faris rounded her eyes and widened her smile.
"Ahh, very happy. Looks like I'm about to start my sailor career again."
"Please, but long-distance relationships are usually difficult to succeed."
"What do you mean?" Sunday smiled meaningfully at Faris who looked straight at him.
"So you're saying the LDR is gonna get us to break up?"
"It can be." Sunday lifted his shoulders.
"No, we can't break up." Now Faris grabs Sunday's arm and rests her head on her shoulders. He gasped for Faris' treatment, which was so close to him. Body stiffens.
"Your body is so fragrant. I like it." Said Faris lirih still with his head attached to the shoulders of Sunday. The leaflet on his chest grew faster as Faris grasped his fingers and played it gently.
Suddenly Faris' phone rang beside him. Faris lifted her head and answered the phone from her papi. Sunday seemed to be able to breathe a sigh of relief after being freed from Faris. He regained the noisy pounding on his chest.
"Tomorrow at night come home. We're going to Gina's house together."
"What way, Pi?"
"How to propose to Gina for you."
"What's Pi?!" Faris wasn't sure her hearing was normal at the moment. What he heard must have been wrong. Sunday who was beside him until the shortest heard Faris half-shouting.
Faris looked at Sunday who looked at her innocently. The face she always missed. A face he never stopped dreaming about for a long time. The face that he wanted to always be with as his later life companion.
