If our love isn't created, I just want to understand. Do I stop in your heart? And, when do you know, you're the one in my heart? You in my heart, am I in your heart?
Sunday stared at the piece of paper tucked away in his module. Maliq & D'Essentials song Untitled. He never felt he had written the song verse let alone tucked it in between modules. Then who? Yesterday there was a file with a snippet of lyrics to the song Umbrella Teduh, now Maliq & D'Essentials. Are the song messages really for him? Or there are people who just write it all. But for her. Wh-wh-what for?
Confused sunday. His brain processes the data that is inputted into it. Process it until it becomes the appropriate output. First the flash, now the module. Okay, some people borrowed the flash but this module. It's left in the lab and Victor's delivering it to his house. The only possibility that holds the module is Victor.
"Oh my God, Victor? Is it possible that the lyrics to this song are Victor?" Sunday thought hard. The processor in his head works optimally.
"But for what? Is it for me? No. wait a minute. On what basis? Or does he like me? No, don't be so confident. He's not that close to me. We are just ordinary friends. He never showed any symptoms of liking me." Sunday digested the data his brain received again.
"But if it wasn't Victor then who would it be?" Lama Sunday was glued with a piece of post-it paper pink in his hand.
"Let's go. I don't know. Just leave it like that. Not wanting to guess again whatever wrote it. Pretend you don't know." Finally Sunday put the post-it kerta on the room calendar near his study table. Then he went back to doing his job.
🌸🌸🌸
Next day. Sunday drove his motorcycle to the campus. It was as if he saw Faris' car passing in the opposite direction to his motorbike. Sunday looked into the rearview and made sure. But he's not sure. Didn't Faris say it would be for two weeks in the Philippines. So it was impossible that the one who had just passed by him was Faris.
Faris has really caught his eye lately. His mind was filled with Faris. He missed Faris. He wants to meet her. Wanna see his smile. Wanted to argue with him. Want to eat meatballs, fried rice, ice puter, siomay, batagor which all the food so unpleasant when he ate it alone without Faris.
"It seems like his return this time made me depend on him. Or because I was too much into my role as her pretended boyfriend that I got carried away. It's very confusing. When will he end this. For a long time I was really crazy if I had to keep this up." He was still driving to his school. He breathed the morning air with all his might and exhaled it. Hoping the tightness in his chest could be reduced. But instead of lightening the burden, the angkot who had just passed over him instead left a fairly dense black smoke. Sunday was coughing.
The insolent angkot. They can wash me without permission. Demonise.
Until Sunday campus immediately to the canteen. Buy a bottle of mineral water to relieve a cough a little by the smoke that pollutes his lungs earlier. After taking a sip, he walked towards the laboratory. When you want to enter, it turns out the door is closed and sayup-sayup heard the lecturer was giving a lecture. There seems to be a practicum. Sunday finally decided to sit on the front bench of the laboratory. His college will start in an hour.
"No classes?" Someone was sitting next to him. Sunday.
"Later, Brother." Answer Sunday to Victor. Sunday remembers a piece of paper tucked away in his practicum module. He asked about the lyrics of the song but Sunday was confused where to start.
"Sister, where were my modules left?"
"Your regime. Why?"
"No. Other than brother, is there anyone else holding my module?"
"What's with your module?" Victor looked astonished.
"Is something broken?"
"No. nothing. My module's fine."
"Then?" Victor was curious about Sunday's attitude.
"Night, I found a piece of paper in it." Sunday was really curious and couldn't help but say what was on his mind.
"Oh that..." Sunday looked at Victor with round eyes. Victor seemed to know about the paper.
"So, you know about the paper?"
"Hmmm..." Sunday then reached into his pocket and pulled out a pink post-it paper.
"It belongs to Brother?" Sunday hesitated to ask.
"Yes." Yeah." Victor replied briefly.
"Oh, this is what I'm taking back." Sunday handed the paper.
"No, take. I gave it to you."
"Forku?"
"Yes, for you."
"But why?"
"Because I can't tell you directly."
"Say what?" Sunday did not want to conclude too soon what Victor wanted to say.
"Like the messages I sent you. About The Two Umbrellas Shade or Untitled Maliq & D'Essentials, it's all an expression of my heart to you."
"Sister... " Sunday is starting to understand now.
"Yes, I like you, Sun. I've liked you for a long time. Since your first year of internship. It's just that I don't know how to express it. Let alone revealing it, just showing it feels hard for me." Then Victor chuckled like he was laughing at himself.
"Sister, I..."
"Don't answer now. I don't want to hear it right now. I gave you time to think about it so don't rush to answer it. I'm a very good person in terms of waiting." Victor smiled softly at Sunday. Sunday is still a bit of a mess with what just happened.
It was really sudden. Sunday never expected Victor who he considered indifferent and rarely chatted with him turned out to harbor feelings for him. And what makes Sunday confused is how he has to deal with this.
Sunday really doesn't know what to answer. Because his feelings for Victor were only friends, nothing more.
🌸🌸🌸
What just happened was a 'surprise' for Sunday. Victor suddenly 'shot him'. Without the previous cue, thus making it completely unexpected.
Slowly move towards class. He still remembers before Victor left him to go into the lab saying...
"Don't rush. I will always wait for you."
Always waiting. That sentence became a burden for Sunday. He certainly didn't like Victor as a man. He just considered him a friend. No more at all. Then now if Victor wants to wait for him, then until when. Sunday doesn't know when he'll like Victor. He is also not interested in liking anyone let alone planning it.
Yeah, I'll tell him that soon. So that he doesn't keep hoping for me. Sunday sure.
Sunday came to the front of her class. Suzan and Windy haven't been seen there yet. Some friends filled empty seats. After greeting them, he took a seat near the window. Because of this third floor building, Sunday can see the campus road beside it. Enjoying the road from a height is indeed one of his hobbies. Seeing each passing by was his own entertainment.
Finally class is over. Sunday put the notebook in his bag. Suzan & Windy too. They moved from their seats.
"I went straight to the Database class huh." Pamit Suzan's.
"okay." Answer Sunday and Windy almost simultaneously.
Suzan did deliberately take a repeat class to improve the C value she got in the last two seasons.
Sunday and Windy go hand in hand. Seeing Sunday silent with his face bent, Windy was a little surprised.
"What's up, Sun?"
"Huh, what?"
"You're what's wrong? I saw from earlier your face like a clothesline has not dried."
"Wet?" Sunday wiped his face with his bare hands. Windy giggled at the attitude of his friend.
"No, but it's tangled." Windy still laughed.
"Oh... Does it look tangled?"
"Yes. What's the matter?"
"Look Win, what do you think. When someone says love to you but you don't love him. Then he'll be waiting for you. What are you gonna do? Remain silent do not reject it or accept it or immediately reject it immediately. Yes so that he doesn't wish to continue to be with you."
"A little while.. Who are you talking about?" Windy probing.
"Mmm. that... Victor."
"Victor?" Sunday nodded. "You mean the one who has expressed love is Victor? You got shot by Victor?"
"Yes..." Sunday replied softly.
"That means the file belongs to Victor?"
"Hmmm..."
"Well, there's gonna be a love location on this campus." Windy Temptation.
"Hey, you're this. I'm not interested in that. I don't love her." Sunday's face lowered deeply with a step down the aisle of his campus.
"Then what do you want?"
"That's why I asked your opinion. I should how?"
"I think it's best to just tell him directly that you don't want him to wait. Because your feelings for him aren't what he expected. The sooner he says it the better for him to stop wishing. Either now or later it won't be any different for you. Yeah, though she hopes someday you'll like her, too. But if you don't have any feelings for her in the future, it'll hurt her even more when you really reject her."
"I think so too."
"So just do it."
"Well, I'll tell him right now. So that I wouldn't be burdened like this every time I met him. I don't want to be confused every day having to meet him because of this unpleasant feeling." Sunday looks very excited now. Windy smiled amusedly at Sunday's behavior.
"I'll go to the lab first, Win." Sunday runs ahead of Windy.
"Okay, good luck." Sunday looked over while giving his thumb.
Entering the laboratory, Sunday saw in it deserted. No more classes. Sunday walked over to Victor's desk. But Victor doesn't exist. Sunday dizzy turned to and fro. He looked around the whole room and the computer tables.
There was a person sitting crouching near one of the computer tables. Sunday approached. But when it's near, it's not Victor. Someone was sitting fixing the twisted LAN cable.
"You... who?" Ask Sunday at the stranger. The man looked up his face.
"Oh, I'm Beni. I'm the one who's temporarily replacing Victor." The man stood up from his seat
"Replace Victor's sister? Where's she going?"
"He got a job off campus for an out-of-town affair so some time it won't be here."
"But I still met him."
"Oh maybe he's got a need in the engineering secretariat."
"I'm actually a law school laborer, but I'm here all the while until Victor comes again."
"Until when?" Unknowingly Sunday even introgated. The man named Beni smiled. Aware of what he did, Sunday apologized for being too curious about what he was not obliged to know.
"You're an intern, right?"
"Yes, brother."
"Thank God. I won't be too troubled then. Because at least if I'm in Law's lab, you're still here."
"Yes fine."
Beni left Sunday and sat down where Victor used to be. Sunday still feels silently that he failed to meet Victor and gave a statement of rejection to him. He had to wait for Victor to arrive so that his burden would increase and postpone his rejection of Victor.
