66. Waiting It Painful

That afternoon, Azlina checked a lot of message notifications either through Whatsapp or social media to congratulate her on her birthday. The girl was still pensively pensive over the balcony of her room, standing slightly bent over supporting her hands on the trellis.

A ray of golden orange sun that began to fall from the horizon struck Azlina's face. An afternoon gust of wind seemed to be waving the girl's hair. He's still waiting for Alvaro to come home. I don't know what surprise the man prepared, making Azlina's heart beat faster. He can't hide his nervousness waiting for tonight.

Elsewhere, Alvaro still conducts important meetings with several marketing teams related to marketing their latest products. The man looked serious about exposing various buzz to increase sales with marketing tricks that he had been thinking about for a few days.

All the teams nodded as Alvaro spoke up, commenting plainly with nothing covered up.

Alvaro smiled at hearing that. He also did not expect Azlina's simple design was chosen without her intervention. Until the man feels proud because he has a wife who has high creative power. "That's an exception, because it's not traded."

The meeting was over with the satisfied face of each participant. Alvaro is quite ideal as a leader who is able to explain marketing strategies unique and different from what the company usually does. Marketers and marketing staff looked out one by one from the room and Alvaro himself stayed there. The man checked his phone. He contacted a special craftsman who made wedding rings with Azlina designs.

Alvaro will give it as Azlina's birthday present later tonight. A sweet surprise to his wife as an expression of his long-buried love after long thoughts finally ended later tonight. Alvaro could not wait for the night to come, making Azlina his real wife.

"So, not finished yet?" The man looked furious at the answer from the person across the street. "When did the diamond come? Do not replace it with another diamond, because it will mean different things!"

There was a heavy sigh coming from Alvaro's lips. His face could not cover the disappointment because the order he should have given to Azlina was never finished. The pink diamond that will be paired on top of the ring is certainly not ready because the value of the mineral is so high that it makes the beelian difficult to adjust its size. Not all craftsmen have the ability to do so so they hire specialized services by flying the diamond to their home country.

So, what should Alvaro give Azlina if the gift is not finished as well?

The man scrunched his nose to think for a moment. He then turned his head towards the door when someone's voice called out to him.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Al. There's something we need to talk about today."

Alvaro looked at the clock on his wrist, almost five in the afternoon. Actually, he should be home soon. However, it looks like there are things that must be resolved soon to make him have to rewind his home schedule. He nodded in agreement. "All right, let's get it over with!"

Several people entered after the man agreed, holding an impromptu meeting that discussed the important decision that should be made by Mr. Agus Cahyono. Although Alvaro is only the Marketing Manager of the company, but if there are serious problems concerning the urgent matter of a decision, Alvaro will be involved in it.

Nearly two hours of that conversation continued. Alvaro grew increasingly agitated given his promise to Azlina. He has not prepared his gift, while he is currently preoccupied with the essential discussion of company matters.

When Alvaro was confused about what to do, the man saw his phone vibrate with Almeera's name on it. He opened a short message from the woman who asked him how he was doing, because some days they have not exchanged news.

However, this time it seems like God is giving him ease by sending Almeera. Alvaro replied to the message by asking the woman for help.

Almeera is a woman. He must have known what a woman liked so Alvaro asked her to buy him a temporary gift.

[Alright, I know you're a good husband. I'll help you.]

The message from Almeera made Alvaro smile with relief. At least he didn't have to worry about the reward for Azlina anymore, because Almeera had helped to get things done.

[Thank you for your help. I can meet quietly now.]

Azlina sat on the bed with her body stretched out occasionally. It's getting late, but Alvaro's not coming. The phone he had been putting on his side had no sign of Alvaro sending him a message. Where is that guy now? Did Alvaro forget that tonight will celebrate Azlina's birthday?

Did Azlina overreact to Alvaro's words saying she would spend the night alone with him?

In fact, when the time showed at half ten in the night, the man did not come home. Azlina's heart felt smashed with the reality. His birthday will be two and a half hours away. Is Alvaro not coming home tonight?

Azlina walked out of her room, staring at the clear-looking night sky tonight. It was very opposite to his gloomy heart. He was dumbstruck, thinking in silence while watching the stars that glowed alone up there, no friends who surrounded. The star was very similar to her, lonely on her birthday.
