Lutung and Turtle (Kekeua)

One day, the forest was so badly burned that all the animals in the forest were running around to save themselves. A skinny langur in pain rolled on the ground, his body full of wounds almost dead. Long time he fell back unconscious. Then after realizing he crawled slowly to a cliff in hopes of getting water to release his hunger and thirst. He saw a small lake, and that's what he was trying to do. The place was very foreign to him and foreign to the other animals in the forest.

He heard a voice rebuking him; "Hai Lutung where are you going? Where did you come from? What's your purpose here?" Surprised Lutung turned to the left, not an animal he saw. He only saw a stone rising from the surface of the water. With a smile he replied, "I am confused not to know the way to another, if I get here to drink water. 

Let me ask you also. What are you really? It's strange to see your appearance, if the fish is not, if the kind of animal. And I almost sat on you, I thought you were a stone raised on the water. You're a disgusting ugly look."

Thus said Lutung, laughing out loud. The tortoise was furious to hear himself being ridiculed in such a way. He knew Lutung was a very good deceitful animal. Very carefully he replied, "Hey arrogant beast, you are arrogant because you rely on your advantages of arm and leg, have you ever heard the story? The story of Maharaja Sri Bedawangnala who ruled the world and maintained the stability of the world? He is a just and wise king? If you want to know...he is my ancestor, Wait, wait for me there, I'll slam."

Lutung was very surprised to hear the description, then in a sweet voice and smiled he replied, "Oh my lord, please forgive your servant, I do not know anything, please...... please give your servant guidance, servant is willing to serve and befriend. The servant is very foolish, and the coming of this servant is to beg for useful guidance." Thus the words of Lutung, then answered by the tortoise. "Ah that is impossible, there is no way I can be friends with you. 

Try thinking? Your food is very different from what I eat. I eat rotten and muddy yams, you? You eat fruits and leaves. Isn't it like a goat's friendship with a dog? who at first became thick friends, but then became hostile because of fighting over the horns." Lutung then replied, "Hamba is not like them." Since then, Lutung and the turtles have been friends. Thus one day arose the mind of Lutung to test the words of the turtle who declared himself a descendant of the magic. He wanted to deceive her, then he said, "My dear turtle, here the food is running out and this place is so boring, we should move. I know there's a garden in the south. The garden was full of fruits, tubers. The owner rarely comes to see, until we can eat at will."

The tortoise happily replied, "We'll leave tomorrow morning. But now I advise you, for the sake of our common salvation, do not make noise." So tomorrow morning they set out to head south to the place designated by Lutung. When they got there, they went into the garden and ate happily. Because there is a lot of food they forget to go back home. It was at this time that Lutung deceived the tortoise. He went to the ginger place. He ate the ginger, after it was spicy and hot then he screamed in pain, howling for help the tortoise and tortoise came ashore approached him, saying.

"Eh Lutong! Have you forgotten my message? This is the moment of our death. Indeed.... indeed you will quickly be able to avoid there, to the tall tree, but.....I..... how will I be?" Lutung pretended to shout at the words of the turtle, even stronger his cry, so it was heard by the owner of the garden named**Durbudi. He came running while carrying a sharp machete. Seeing the plants being broken and destroyed, he shouted, "Hi destructive beast, show yourself! You're a behead!". The tortoise ran scared under the ginger tree hiding and entered on a coconut shell. Lutung swiftly jumped up the tree while humbling to sneer his mouth, then sat on a large wooden branch while singing:

"Lutung on high wood, Tortoise under the shell is hiding."

Many times he sang while mocking Durbudi so that Durbudi became angry. His bald head shone reddish in the sunlight. When he saw Lutung on a tree, he lifted his machete and shouted fiercely. "Hai Lutung fucker, if you're a man let's go down, invite all his friends, grab me here! I'll chop, I chop, I chop, kusate, until your head rolls over the ground."

Lutung pretended not to listen, he continued to sing adding to Durbudi's anger. Over time Durbudi knew of the signal given by Lutung through his song. He went to the ginger tree that grew scattered there. Every tree is covered. On a shell he stopped, took the shell, and saw the turtle hiding, trembling in fear. *** Durbudi said, "Ha." The tortoise calmly replied, "Lutung Wahai fool, which you really do not know, where I might be cooked, it's just your guess. Don't you know that I'll be appointed a son-in-law tonight? Grow your eyes.....

That beautiful girl who's making powder to massage me tonight, is my future wife. Lookie! That one in the kitchen that was cooking, was my future in-law. He was busy preparing food for the guests who would come to meet our invitation later tonight, celebrating the wedding ceremony." Thus said the tortoise while forcing himself to.

Lutung who is stupid, but greedy, did not expect himself to be tricked easily. Then he said, "O my generous friend, in your opinion it is not appropriate to marry a man who is not at all like you, you are without legs and no hands. As a sign of friendship, let me take your place!!!. The turtle smilingly replied, "It's true, just like what you said. For the sake of our friendship, I give up this position and I pray that you will be happy forever."

Lutung quickly replaced the turtle, entered the cage, while the turtle quickly left the place running to find a hiding place. Shortly afterwards**Durbudi with a sharpened machete came to the cage, he was very surprised to see Lutung there replacing the tortoise, then exclaimed, "Haiiiii who replaced this beast?? This is called the gift of God. The bigger and the more flesh."

Lutung trembled in fear, his face pale. He had not expected this to happen at all while in his heart he said, "Oh my God, this is the day of my death?" Despite such circumstances, he tried to calm himself down and said, "Good father, wanting to kill me is not as easy as you might think, my flesh would be bland if I didn't know how to kill me. In the Pontar it is said that my people, being of one descent with man, are exceedingly sinful if they do not know how to eat the flesh of my people.

The children of wives and descendants will be cursed by the Almighty God. Conversely, if you know the ways, you will get the happiness of inner birth forever. Know that the ancestors were the Hanoman heroes of Sri Rama. All right, I'm telling you that I'm at the end of the tail. All Lutung requests were fulfilled, burned from the tail until not how long the fire raged, lutung quickly jumped over the house until the house burned and destroyed. *** Durbudi went to save himself from the raging fire. Lutung meanderingly freed himself, away from the place. He followed the turtle's trail for revenge. Along the way he shouted for the turtle while he cursed. "Radult turtles! Let me be in hell, I'll find and kill you!" It keeps on walking looking for turtles by night. Finally he managed to find a turtle on the grassy ground beside a rock.

At the top end of the stone was coiled a poisonous striped snake. He was calmly waiting for the arrival of the lutung. Lutung angrily said, "This is the day of your death, turtle! Until your heart deceives me, an improper deed for a fellow friend, now feel my vengeance."

The turtle calmly and smilingly replied, "Oh my good friend. You can't kill me as easily as you say. I am invulnerable and cannot die, having drunk the holy water of grace from the Almighty God. If you want to know, I'll tell you. Look at that striped circle above it there is amerta. A long time ago the gods, denawa and giants all coalesced around the sea to get amerta water and now it has been obtained". Pointing at the stone, he continued; "I am here to guard it, after I have been awarded a drop. If you want to kill me, it's the same as the person who wants to cut water. Not likely. That's not gonna be possible for you to do." Turtles are very good at hiding their hard feelings and fears.

Lutung happily listened to him. Trustfully, he made a request, "O good friend, forgive your foolish friend! Let us continue this friendship we should all enjoy together. Let me take your place here, I want to be immune like you. I will never forget the kindness you have bestowed on me." Thus the words of lutung weld. He does not know that it is a trick that is just made up. The tortoise replied, "I can do nothing but approve what you ask for, for the sake of our friendship. I need to tell you, do what I will after I have gone far. Because I fear God's curse is leaving duty without His permission!"

The tortoise quickly left the place. Not happy kepalangnya lutung, then he approached the stone. Feeling annoyed, the snake woke up, ferociously he bit the lutung wrapped around his body until the lutung rebah rolled on the ground. He was crying in pain because of the snake, his eyes were twitching, his knees were trembling and he could not walk. He finally remained unconscious. I don't know how many days he was there withstanding the pain. Now we tell the story of the tortoise's journey, it has reached the shore. Unrelenting sense and deceit next, because he knows the grudge lutung will increase. On the beach he saw a large shell that shone in the sunlight. His mouth was open with its width. The tortoise approached him and calmly waited for him there.

He ran quickly to find a trail of turtles. Not long before he arrived at the beach where the tortoise, while on his waist lutung shouted, "Tortoise, so great is your sin against me, because you have made me sad and miserable. Now it's time for me to kill you, but before that you can beg me for forgiveness." The tortoise did not suffer the slightest bit, his anger disappeared, like a fire doused in water, he said, "Nah tell me everything so that I know clearly." Fear of the threat of war.

He calmly said, "Please kill me as soon as possible. I want to get to heaven as soon as possible, a place that has been available and prepared especially for me, because I am meritorious to wait for the relics of the gods here. The revelation was delivered by the god when the god left this place." Lutung opened his mouth to hear the story, his anger disappeared, like a fire drenched in water, and he said, "Hell tell me everything so I know clearly."

The tortoise while arranging his seat, started the story again. "A long time ago when Hyang Shiva ascended on the mountain in this world ruled the almighty giant named Nila Rudraka. This world is controlled, then he wants to also control Indraloka. So the gods fought in Indraloka, so that all the gods were afraid and fled for safety. Then a meeting was held to negotiate tactics in battle. Finally it was discovered that the one who could kill the giant was the son of Shiva, who was named Hyang Gana. 

So Hyang Kamajaya was sent to tempt Shiva and ask for His permission and approval. Hyang Shiva was tempted by the Amor arrow released by Hyang Kamajaya. But once it is known, that Hyang Kamajaya who is the culprit, then Shiva is very angry. Kamajaya burned it with the third eye located in the middle. Kamajaya was reduced to ashes. Dewi Ratih, Kamajaya's wife came and was afraid to throw themselves in the blazing fire. Death to both of them. What I'm waiting for now here, is the traces of his clothes. Whoever can take this, he will be a great king, respected by his many people."

Such is the story of the tortoise, lutung kindly, and then make a plea. "Truly all I can understand, let me take your place so that I may quickly become a great king. I will make you a Great Patih!!. Hurry up and leave this place!!. The turtle quickly moved away from the place to hide. While Lutung went to wash himself, after bathing, then he sat down with prostration and covered his hands on his head while asking for God's blessing.

He took the shell, put his hand into the mouth of the shell, which immediately closed his mouth. Lutung screamed in pain. He pulled his hand from the mouth of the clam, but the clasp grew louder so that his cry increased, his tears flowed profusely and apologized to God for his sassness.
