Sesentola and Garuda bird

In the past, in Central Sulawesi, there lived a couple. They have been married for decades but have not had a child.

However, they never give up. Every night they prayed to God for a child, no matter what. One day, the wife was pregnant.

“Thank you, God. You have answered our prayers. If the child has been born, I promise to take care of and raise him with affection,” said the husband.

A few months later, the wife gave birth to a son they named Sesentola. From birth, there are signs of a miracle in the child. He was very strong at drinking milk. Sometimes, she cries because she feels less full. The mother began to be confused to see the state of her child.

“Pak, our son is still hungry even though my milk is up. What should we do?” ask the confused wife.

“We should give additional food,” said her husband.

“But wouldn't it be harmful to digestion if our infant child was fed adult food?” ask the wife.

“We have to how else, Mom? If not given extra food, he will definitely cry continuously,” said the husband.

The husband and wife decided to give rice porridge to their son. Apparently, a plate of rice porridge is not enough to satiate Sesentola. One meal, Sesentola who is still a baby can spend 2-3 dishes of rice. And so on, the more the day he gets stronger eating. However, behind that, Sesentola possessed an extraordinary power unknown to her parents.

A few years later, Sesentola grew into a teenager. Eating habits are increasing. One meal he could spend a basket of rice. That is what makes the father began to be upset because he felt he was no longer able to feed his son.

“Bu, I am no longer strong with this situation. Our children are eating more. For a long time we ourselves can die of hunger,” complained the husband.

Until one day, the father was really strong again to face the situation. He intends to destroy the life of his own son. Neither can the wife do anything with her husband's decision.

One day, the father invited Sesentola to fish in a river that has many cultures. Sesentola followed his father's invitation. Arriving at the river, the father immediately threw his way into the middle of the river. After that, he ordered Sesentola to take the net.

“Sesentola, quickly grab that mesh! There must have been a lot of fish caught in it!” the father's orders.

“Good, Sir,” replied Sesentola.

As soon as Sesentola dived to the bottom of the river to lift the net, the father quickly abandoned him. She thought her son must have been eaten by a crocodile. When he got home, he told his wife.

“Bu, Sesentola must have died eaten by crocodiles. We will not starve again,” said the husband.

Just now the husband said so, suddenly a shout was heard from the front of the house.

“Mr, I'm home! Look what I brought this with me!”

The couple was shocked.

“Pak, isn't that the voice of our son, Sesentalo?” ask the wife.

With anxious feelings, the husband immediately came out. How surprised because he found Sesentola was carrying a large crocodile.

“See, Sir! I managed to catch a big crocodile,” Sesentola said.

The father fell silent, not believing what he saw. It was fortunate that he quickly regained consciousness so that his evil intentions were unknown to Sesentola. As his plan fails, he soon finds another way to eliminate his son's life. He remembered the big banyan tree by the river. So, the next day he invited Sesentola to go cut down the banyan tree.

“Sesentola, let's help you cut down the banyan tree on the river bank,” invite the father.

“Good, Sir,” replied Sesentola.

The father and son went to the river. The father deliberately directed the tree to where Sesentola stood. Once the banyan tree collapsed, no doubt Sesentola's body was hit by a tree.

After that, Sesentola no longer spoke. The father thought his son was dead. So he quickly went back to his house and told his wife about it. However, suddenly there was the sound of Sesentola.

Meanwhile, Sesentola who had realized the father's evil intentions began to get upset. However, he did not want to fight his father. He felt that it was better to leave than to continue to burden his parents.

“If Father and Mother are no longer able to support me, I better just go. I will seek my own livelihood,” said Sesentola.

“Alright, Son. Bring this heirloom,” said the mother while handing over the three-eyed arrow and heirloom ring.

“Remember, when you want to use this arrow must be accompanied by mentioning the enemy body part that you want to aim. If you mention the eyes, the arrows will hit the eyes of your enemies. If you are sick, soak this ring in water. Then drop the water on the part of your body that is sick, surely you will recover,” explained Sesentola's mother.

“Thank you, Mom. Take good care of yourself,” said Sesentola.

After saying goodbye to his mother and father, Sesentola left his hometown. He walked without direction until he finally reached a royal capital. Strangely, the city was uninhabited.

“Hai, why is this city so quiet? Where are the inhabitants?” muttered Sesentola in wonder.

After Sesentola surrounded the city, there was a magnificent house. He thought that the house must be the king's palace. With a slow step, Sesentola entered the palace. But no one is visible. There's only a rasasa drum in it. Out of curiosity, Sesentola also intended to hit the drum. As soon as he was about to hit her, there was suddenly a voice of a woman reprimanding him.

“Hai, don't you hit this drum! I'm in it,” exclaim that sound, “Come quickly hide!”

A man followed that call. As soon as he got into the drum, he found a beautiful girl.

“Hai, who are you and why hide here?” ask Sesentola wonder.

“Sssstt…! Do not be hard, later the garuda comes attacking again,” said the woman.

“Garuda what do you mean?” sesentola asked slowly.

“My name is Lemontonda. I am the only one still alive in this country. Other residents have died attacked by a very ferocious Garuda bird,” Lemontonda said.

Hearing the story, Sesentola also intends to destroy the garuda.

“Do not be afraid, Lemontonda! I will teach the Garuda lesson,” said Sesentola.

“Do not! Garuda is very powerful. After all he is not alone, and there is still a Garuda King named Vandebulava who is more powerful,” Lemontonda said.

“Take it easy. I will face them with my destroyer,” Sesentola said as he showed his weapon.

A little while later, a garuda came and flew around above the palace. The Garuda knew the whereabouts of Sesentola and the girl. Bravely, Sesentola immediately came out and aimed at the eagle with his arrow. Once detached from the bow, the arrow shot quickly and precisely hit the eagle's eye until it broke. Garuda fell and died instantly.

Knowing the news, King Garuda became angry. He immediately ordered a garuda named Vandease to capture Sesentola.

“Capture and bring the young man here! If you don't want to, just finish him!” king of Garuda.

“Good, Master!” answer Vandease.

Vandease finds Sesentola and asks him to surrender, but the young man is unwilling. Sesentola then pulled his bow and aimed at the eagle's forehead. The arrow shot and hit the forehead of the garuda to death instantly. Seeing this, Lemontonda told Sesentola.

“Be careful, Sesentola! The Garuda King is coming soon. It is very powerful,” Lemontonda said.

“Alright, please prepare a glass of water to soak this ring!” pinta Sesentola while handing her ring to Lemontonda, “If I faint, please drop this water into my eyes.”

Shortly thereafter, Vandebulava arrived. Sesentola immediately aimed at the neck of the garuda. His arrow then shot through the neck of King Garuda. Because of his magic, before falling, King Garuda had snatched Sesentola until he fainted.

Seeing Sesentola faint, Lemontonda immediately dripped water soaking the heirloom ring into the young man's eyes. A few moments later, Sesentola woke up. With the death of King Garuda, the country was safe again. Sesentola also invited Lemontonda to get married. The girl was willing but on one condition.

“I am willing to marry as long as you are able to revive my parents and all the people of this country,” pinta Lemotonda.

Sesentola also agreed to these conditions. That said, with his power, Sesentola managed to revive the entire population of the country. He married Lemontonda and became king of the land. Next, Sesentola took his parents to the palace. They also live happily.
