In ancient times in the land of Gayo, Aceh – lived a family of farmers who were very poor. The fields they have are only a small patch so that their crops are unable to sustain life for a season, while their livestock are only two thin and sickly goats.
Therefore, to connect his family's life, the farmer was fishing in the Krueng Peusangan river or put a bird trap in the forest. If a bird is caught in its trap, it will take the bird for sale to the city.
Once, there was a terrible dry season. Many rivers become dry, while crops run dry. So are the plants in the farmer's field. As a result, the field did not produce the slightest result.
The farmer had two children. The eldest was eight years old named Sulung, while his younger brother Bungsu was only one year old. Their mothers sometimes helped make a living by making pots out of clay.
As a child, this Eldest was not his naughty play. He always whined for money, but he knew his parents never had more money. When he was told to take care of his sister, he would be busy playing alone no matter what his sister did. As a result, his sister almost drowned in a river.
One day, the Eldest asked his father to go pasture. So that the goat eats a lot and looks fat so people want to buy it a bit expensive. Tomorrow, his father will sell it to the market because they already have no money. However, Eldest was lazy to herd his goats into the distant pasture.
“For what I went all the way, it's better to just stay here so I can sleep under this tree,” said the Eldest. Then he slept under a tree. When the Eldest woke up, it was late afternoon. But the goats he had grazed were no more.
When his father asked him about the goat, he lied to his father. He said that the goat was drifting in the river. The farmer scolded the Eldest and grieved how he bought the rice tomorrow. Finally, the farmer decided to go to the forest to look at the trap.
In the forest, it is not fun that the farmer is seeing a child****wooden entangled in his trap.
“Luckily there's this forest boy. If I sell bias to buy rice and can to eat for a week,” said the farmer happily sambl took off the noose that binds the feet of the forest boy. The son of**** was screaming, but the farmer immediately grabbed him to take home. Suddenly, the bushes in front of the farmer were revealed.
Two black shadows appeared storming the farmer with heavy steps and a snort full of anger. Not yet had time to do something, the farmer had been sprawled on the ground with a body full of wounds. Both parents were furious that their son was arrested. The farmer tried to get up while pulling out his machete. He tried to fight the angry mother.
But what a pity that farmer. When he swung his machete into the body of the ****wooden forest, his worn-out machete broke in two.
the injured forest was getting angry. The farmer ran off the ridge chased by the forest. When he jumped a small river, he slipped and fell so that his head stumbled on a rock. The farmer died without his wife knowing. Meanwhile – at home the farmer's wife was scolding the Eldest with a sad heart because the Eldest had thrown the last handful of rice they had into the well.
He never imagined that the child he had conceived for nine months and ten days and cared for lovingly, was now a naughty child and always made parents difficult.
“Create what I took the pot. If mom goes, I have to look after the Bungsu and I can't go play. I better break this pot,” said the Eldest. Then, the slamming of the two clay pots that became his mother's last hope to buy rice. The two pots were also smashed apart on the ground.
Not to play surprised and disappointed the mother of the Eldest when hearing the sound of the pot slammed.
“Aduuu…..Firstborn! Did you know we all need to eat. Why did you break the pot too, when the pot is our treasure left,” said the Eldest mother with eyes full of tears. But the Eldest really did not know himself, he did not want to eat bananas. He wants to eat rice with fish side dishes. It was sad that the Eldest mother heard his son's request.
“I don't want to eat bananas! I'm not a baby anymore, why should I eat a banana,” cried the Eldest angrily as he slammed his plate into the ground.
When the Eldest was angry, a neighbor told them that they found the father of the Firstborn dead by the river. How sad and sad the Eldest mother heard the bad news.
Hugged the Eldest while crying, then said “Okay, Eldest, your father has died. Somehow our fate later,” lamented the Eldest's mother. But the Eldest did not seem sad in the least to hear the news. For the Eldest, he felt that no one else ordered him to do things that he did not like.
“Sulung, I feel unable to live in this world anymore. My heart is sad when I think of you. Take good care of your sister. I'm going to Batu Belah. I'll catch up with your father,” said the Eldest's mother. The Eldest's mother then headed to a large protruding stone, called the Batu Belah people.
Arriving there, the Eldest's mother sang, too,
Stone cupped stone.
My heart is how languishing.
Stone cupped stone.
Take me along.
A moment later, a strong wind blew and the boulder split open. After the Eldest's mother entered it, the boulder retreated. Seeing that incident, there was regret in the heart of the Eldest. He cried loudly and called his mother until he promised not to be naughty again, but the regret came too late. His mother had disappeared into Batu Belah's.
