In the village of Surasilulu district of Tabanan, Bali in ancient times, there lived a couple. They are rich, but they have no children. For the people of Bali at that time, people who did not have offspring were humans who siasia life.
One day they went to Pura Desa. They ask the Almighty to be given descendants. Time passed too. The wife began to conceive. How happy they are. A few months later, a baby boy was born.
The baby was about to be breastfed by his mother, but his finger kept pointing towards a steamed rice. That later this child will become a big figure, has seen the signs from an early age.
The baby was crying as if asking for something. The old lady heard the baby's whining, and she took the steamed rice and tried to give it to the baby. Mother muttered in her heart: Does this child want to taste this steamed rice? Not enough age to eat rice?”
It was unexpected that the baby ate the steamed rice with greed. The mother of the baby showed great surprise. When newborn, the child can already eat rice..Mom:” Gosh, you have given an amazing child, huh Hyang Widi…
It turns out that the one born is no ordinary baby. When he was a baby, he ate adult food. Every day more and more children.
The boy grew up to be a tall adult. He was therefore called Kebo Iwa, which means uncle of the buffalo.
Kebo Iwa eat and eat continuously with greed. Long time exhausted his parents' property to meet his appetite. They were no longer able to feed their children.
With a heavy heart they asked for the village's help. Since then all the food needs of Kebo Iwa borne by the village. The villagers then built a very large house for Kebo Iwa. They also cooked a lot of food for him. But for a long time the population felt unable to provide food. Then they asked Kebo Iwa to cook for themselves. They only provide raw materials. The food is processed by Kebo Iwa at Pantai Payan, which is adjacent to Soka Beach.
Lake Beratan is a place where Kebo Iwa usually cleans his body, although the distance is quite far but with a large body distance is not a problem for him, he said, he can reach any place he wants in the Bali region with a short time.
Kebo Iwa is big. His leg range is so wide that he can travel quickly. If he wants to drink, Kebo Iwa just stick his index finger to the ground. So it was a small well that released water.
Although born with a large body, Kebo Iwa is a young man with a straight heart. One time on his way home from the Lake beratan, Seemed a bunch of adults who did not have a straight heart, From a distance the villagers felt very anxious. One of them seemed to be paying attention to a beautiful girl. The man teased this girl violently, this girl became scared and reluctant to speak. The man was getting more and more lustful and his hands began to commit indecent acts.
Suddenly Kebo Iwa appeared behind the mob, clutching the hand of one of them, a snarl emanated from his face, the man screaming in pain, the horde was very surprised to see Kebo Iwa so big, fear was seen from the look of the horde. The horde ran off the ridge.
Thus Kebo Iwa reciprocated the good services of his villagers by maintaining security where he lived. The great body as a gift from Sang Hyang Widi is used very well and correctly by Kebo Iwa.
In the 11th century AD, a very magnificent and beautiful sculpture was made on the wall of Mount Kawi, Tampaksiring. Kebo Iwa carved the mountain wall beautifully, using only the fingernails of his fingers. The chisel was made only overnight, using the fingernails of Kebo Iwa's fingers.
The statue is intended to pay homage to King Udayana, King Anak Wungsu, the Empress and the king's prime minister who are buried there. King Anak Wungsu is the king who managed to unite Bali.
One of the most special things about Kebo Iwa is its ability to make well springs. Kebo Iwa with all his strength thrust his finger into the ground. With the power of his powerful fingers, he was able to hold a well of springs, just by thrusting his index finger into the ground.
Various abilities are extraordinary, causing the emergence of a special attraction from the person of Kebo Iwa. And that overwhelming power, caused a powerful king the last descendant of the God Warri Dynasty, to, sri Astasura Bumi Banten wanted Kebo Iwa to be one of his patih in the Blahbatuh region which is also known as the King of Surasilulu. (‘Beda’ is interpreted as a different power). Kebo Iwa was appointed as Patih kingdom and at that time he said the Promise that as long as Kebo Iwa still breathes Bali will never be controlled.
With the support of Kebo Iwa's extraordinarily powerful patih, Sri Astasura Bumi Banten stated that his kingdom would not be subdued by the Majapahit Kingdom who wished to conquer the kingdom in Bali.
The Majapahit kingdom was led by King Tri Bhuwana Tungga Dewi, with its most famous patih famous for its famous Palapanya Oath (vow not to enjoy the world's pleasure if the entire archipelago has not been united under the banner of Majapahit) named Gajah Mada.
Because of its greatness, Kebo Iwa can withstand the invasion of Majapahit troops who want to conquer Bali. All Majapahit warships were sunk while in the Bali Strait.
Maha Patih Majapahit also arranged the strategy. In the arranged scheme, Gajah Mada gave praise to His Majesty Sri Astasura Bumi Banten and Patih Kebo Iwa without arousing suspicion. Then, the King of Majapahit persuaded Patih kebo Iwa to travel to Majapahit to marry an honorable woman and the choice of the king who came from Lemah Tulis.
Responding to an offer from Majapahit, Patih Kebo Iwa, who was loyal to his king, asked for instructions and approval from Sri Astasura Bumi Banten. The King agreed without suspicion. Before going to Majapahit, Patih Kebo Iwa first performed a religious ceremony at Uluwatu Temple, to ask for strength from Sang Hyang Rudra. And Sang Hyang Rudra complied with the request of Kebo Iwa, resulting in an increase in strength and devotion to be very extraordinary.
Patih Gajah Mada welcomes the arrival of Patih Kebo Iwa: “Salam, the formidable Patih! Welcome to Majapahit” Kingdom Patih Kebo Iwa who chimed in greetings from Patih Gajah Mada. Kebo Iwa: “Thank You Patih, if you are willing to directly explain the intention of His Majesty Tri Bhuwana Tungga Dewi who asked me to come to Majapahit.
Gajah Mada: “As previously rumored, Patih kebo Iwa, the King expects the arrival of Patih to establish a friendship with the Kingdom of Surahulu in Bali and also hopes that the coach is willing to meet the honorable woman of his choice who feels fit to accompany a tough coach as you”.
Gajah Mada took a deep breath then continued his words: “Akan but before, it would be very meaningful if Patih kingdom. Kebo Iwa deigns to make a water well there which will later be dedicated to the woman of your prospective companion. Moreover, the well will also be used by the people of Majapahit kingdom who are currently lacking water. May Patih please grant this request.
Patih Kebo Iwa has a big soul and straight heart, he finally approved the request. Patih Kebo Iwa is considering the request. Then decided to fulfill the request. Kebo Iwa (think for a moment) then he said: “Alright, let my strength be used for something that presents a blessing to the crowd”.
Without much more said, Patih Kebo Iwa immediately carried out his activities to create a water well. Before starting his work, do not forget Patih Kebo Iwa asked for guidance from Sang Hyang Widi. Kebo Iwa: (in the heart) Yes the Power, everything I will do may describe the greatness of Your name.Kebo Iwa began to dig a well in the designated place.
In a fairly short time, the well has been dug deep enough. But no springs came out. On top of a well hole dug by Patih Kebo Iwa, Majapahit soldiers were seen clustered, as they concentrated their attention on Patih Gajah Mada. As if they were waiting for something to order..Suddenly Gajah Mada shouted: “Limb him with a stone...........!!!!” At once, the soldiers re-stocked the well hole that was being made, with Patih Kebo Iwa in it.
The soldiers stockpiled the well hole with the excavated stone itself, it appears Kebo Iwa was very surprised and tried to resist the fall of the stone. In a short time, the hole was tightly closed. Burying
a great hero in it. Patih Gajah Mada who spoke to his parjurits. Gajah Mada: “It is a pity that a great hero like him should experience this. However, this must be done, so that this archipelago can be united. With this the kingdom of Bali will be part of Majapahit”.
Suddenly a pile of rocks shot into all directions, hitting the Majapahit warrior. There was a scream coming from inside the well. Kebo Iwa: (screaming) “But! Bali is still independent, because my breath is still blowing. The stones that were hoarded darted back into the air accompanied by the cry of Majapahit soldiers who hit the stone. From the well came Patih Kebo Iwa, who was too strong to be defeated.
Patih Gajah Mada was surprised, watched the still mighty Patih Kebo Iwa, and moved out of the well hole. Kebo Iwa: “And retribution is what I demand from a betrayal!” Patih Kebo Iwa attacked Patih Gajah Mada anger and revenge coloring the battle. Due to the anger and resentment felt by Patih Kebo Iwa, the battle was fierce for some time.
On the sidelines of each other attack Gajah Mada shouted: ”To unite and strengthen the archipelago, all kingdoms should be united first. And you're standing in the wrong line as a barrier!”.
The power of Patih Kebo Iwa, really complicates the efforts of Patih Gajah Mada to subdue him. The battle between the two is still going great, but the anger and resentment of Patih Kebo Iwa began to subside and apparently Patih Kebo Iwa was fighting while thinking and what was being thought by him, he said, he has to make a difficult decision. Kebo Iwa: (in heart) The kingdom of Bali will eventually be conquered by the strong efforts of this man, his desire to unite the archipelago in order to be strong if I can understand now.
But if, I agree with his intention and my body is still alive, what will I say to His Majesty in denial of a prejudice of treason? Still in a state of battle, Patih Kebo Iwa deliberately made a statement about the point to defeat his magic.
Kebo Iwa: “Gajah Mada Patih! Your ideals to make the archipelago one and strong may I understand, but as long as my body remains alive as my king's servant, I will be your hindrance. So, conquer me, eliminate my magic by pouring chalk powder into my body.
The statement of Patih Kebo Iwa apparently made Patih Gajah Mada gasp. Patih Gajah Mada showed a very astonished reaction to the words of Patih Kebo Iwa.
Gajah Mada, who understood the desire of Kebo Iwa, seemed to smash his nurse into limestone, the stone was melted into powder flakes.
Patih Gajah Mada swept the powder towards Patih Kebo Iwa with his knowledge, the lime powder enveloped the body of the Patih Nampak Patih Kebo Iwa, asphyxiated by the lime powder.
If the chalk powder makes the breathing exercise of Patih Kebo Iwa becomes disturbed, it causes the body of Patih Kebo Iwa to disappear. Patih Gajah Mada shot towards Patih Kebo Iwa, thrusting his dagger into Kebo Iwa's body.
And before his departure, with the rest of his energy there Patih Kebo Iwa expressed what he wanted to say for the last time. Patih Kebo Iwa: “If my death is not in vain let the powerful archipelago unite the worthy results of my life price”.
Patih Gajah Mada with a sad face, gave an answer to the words of Patih Kebo Iwa. Gajah Mada: “Your departure as a great figure will be remembered in history. History of a single archipelago and strong”.
Shortly after hearing the statement, the last breath went already, leaving the body of a toughest patih in the history of Bali and pertiwi was dimmed to release the departure of one of his best sons.
With the death of Kebo Iwa, Bali was conquered by Majapahit. End the history of the great people who contributed to the island of Bali.
