I'm Not a Man

I'm Not a Man
Chapter 53

Without wasting much more time, I immediately tried to get out of my bed. Mulya helped me to get up, as she looked, I had a little trouble getting up.

My body was still very weak, feeling staggering as I forced it to walk. Don't walk, just stand up I don't feel very good.

Mulya with full of feelings, helped me to walk towards the car. Brother Ryan, following us from behind.

"Be careful" said Mulya while helping me get in the car.

I didn't answer what Mulya said. Just a thousand languages, sitting limp in the back seat. Meanwhile, Ryan's sister sat in front as a driver, and Mulya was sitting in the back with me.

Not a word from the three of us. There, just the sound of the car engine and the boisterous sound of people passing by, just like us.

Fortunately, the road did not stop. So, we can get there quickly, to the place we want to go.

"Alina, we've come now" Ryan said, stopping the car at one of the funerals.

"So, this is my mom's place, brother?"

"Yes, this is where your mother is buried."

Mulya came back to help me get out of the car. Because indeed, my body that is still weak really needs help from someone, in order to keep walking without falling.

Brother Ryan walked first as a guide. While I was with Mulya, walking in the back, following Ryan's footsteps.

Five minutes walk, we just arrived at one of the tombs whose land looks wet. There, stuck a signboard, to mark whose tomb it was.

My eyes could not help but shed tears, as I looked at the signboard that read my mother's name. There was a sense of sadness in this heart, when I saw this still wet mound of earth.

"Mama," I said in a soft and raucous tone.

"Why did mom leave me so soon anyway, ma? I still want to be with my mom. Although ...."

My words stopped, for I could not continue my unkind words about my mother. Especially in front of my mom's grave today.

True what people say, if it is not there, then feel, if we love someone who has disappointed us.

Just like me, that disappointment was gone, when I found out that mom was gone. The disappointment was only for a moment, but when I found out that my mom was not my real mama.

"Already deck. Don't cry about what happened. Because this is all the destiny that God has set on you. Just look for the silver lining, from what happened, yes" said brother Ryan softly.

"Yes Alina, don't ever regret what happened. All of this is a trial for us" Mulya said while helping me to stand up.

"We? Why us? Don't you like mama, Mulya?"

"Lina, Mulya also felt the loss due to the big event of that time."

"Sister mean?"

"Udah, we'll have the story in the car. It's not good to tell the things that are not here. Respect the dead" said Mulya.

Me, Mulya, and Ryan's sister, chose to go home. Actually, I want to go home now. But, it's getting late. And they promised, they'd tell me what I wanted to know when we were home.

....

When we got home, it was dark.

"Sister Ryan, Mulya, you can't go home before you're done telling me what happened after that," I said firmly, as the two of them got ready for the trip after driving me home.

Inevitably, the two of them were forced to obey what I said. They had no choice but to tell me frankly.

It started with Mulya, who told me what happened to her brother after getting shot. He also told me that my father did not go abroad, but rather, he also died.

"Why are you hiding all this from me. Why are you lying to me?"

"I'm sorry, Alina. We don't want your health to deteriorate then. Hence, we prefer to lie and hide everything from you. When you ask, how are their people, we have no other way, other than telling a lie about the person you asked," Mulya explained at length.
