Been Friends

After Kimberly and her grandfather leave, Kendrick leaves. He intended to go to the office but somehow both of his legs actually took him to the hospital. As always, wherever he stepped, he would be the center of attention. Some of the nurses looked at it as well as some of the women who happened to be there.

If there was a Kimberly, she would be like a guard dog because she didn't like anyone seeing Kendrick but for today, nothing else sticks to her excessively. The end of his relationship with Kimberly really made him relieved let alone the absence of a long drama to end it.

Kendrick got out of the elevator she was riding and now, she's, he had only realized where he was when he was already inside the room where a boy was lying on the bed. What the hell is he doing? Doesn't he have to go to the office?

"Uncle?" daniel's call made him step back. I don't know what brought him there, which is certain he did feel a difficult feeling he expressed when he saw the boy.

"Mommy didn't say Uncle was coming?" Daniel sat on the bed. His facial expression showed that he was very happy to be visited by Kendrick.

"I didn't say it. Where's mommy? Why leave you alone?"

"Mommy left for a while after being hit by the evil Aunty!"

"What's? Kimberly hit him?" don't tell me Kimberly still thinks Emma's the mastermind of their relationship breaking up so Kimberly hits her own sister.

"Why is Aunty so evil, Uncle? Grandparents are also evil. Isn't Uncle Aunty's fiancee, why doesn't Uncle scold Aunty?"

"No, we're not engaged anymore."

"Oh, why?" Daniel tilted his head and looked at Kendrick curiously.

"I don't think you need to know about this. I came to see how you are doing, am I okay?"

"Now Daniel is fine but soon he is not" replied Daniel because his condition is always changing.

"Why is that?"

"Mommy didn't say it but Mommy said Daniel just needed a lot of rest."

"Is Mommy alone? What about Daddy?" this was the most curious so he purposely asked so while there was no Emma.

"Daddy?" Daniel showed a confused expression. Kendrick looked at her own son intently, did Emma not tell her son who the father of Daniel was or was Kimberly's words about Emma correct if she slept with so many men that Emma did not know who the father of her own son was.

"Why? Didn't Daniel know Daddy Daniel himself?" ask Kendrick.

"Daniel doesn't have Daddy, Uncle," Daniel looked down with a sad expression.

"What does Daniel mean?" Kendrick's getting curious.

"Mommy said Daddy went to work but never came home, Mommy promised to find Daddy but Mommy never did, but Daniel also wanted to have Daddy like Daniel's friends." hearing Daniel's words makes Kendrick more convinced that Emma is indeed having a relationship with many men so that she does not know who the father of her son.

"Hey, don't be sad" Kendrick held Daniel's hand to comfort him, "What if Uncle helped Daniel find Daddy. Wanna, right?" he hoped that with his offer Daniel would not be sad anymore.

"Will Uncle help?" Daniel raised his face and looked at Kendrick with a look of hope.

"Yes, if Danel doesn't mind."

"Daniel doesn't mind. What if we're friends. Does Uncle want to be Daniel's friend?"

"It's an honor for me, of course I will."

"Thank you, Uncle," Daniel moved on and hugged his own father. Kendrick was surprised. The feeling he always felt filled his heart, so Kendrick hugged Daniel and held him tight. Damn, why does he always feel that way?

"If so Uncle becomes Daniel's first friend."

"Will Uncle come to see Daniel again?" Daniel lets go of his embrace, Kendrick feels displeased because he doesn't feel enough. Strange, the two of them seemed to have a bond that he could not explain.

"of course. Next time Uncle will bring something for Daniel."

"Thank you Uncle but does Uncle know? Somehow Daniel felt like he was hugging Daddy when Daniel hugged Uncle."

"You mean?"

"Don't tell Mommy, Mommy will be angry" Daniel said, putting a finger to his lips.

Kendrick was silent to think. Did Daniel also feel what he felt when he was with the boy? Emma's face is hard to guess who Daniel's father is but his black hair and brown eyeballs,? Kendrick stared fixedly at Daniel, why did he suddenly feel that they had any resemblance? For some reason, when he saw Daniel, it was like he saw himself as a child. Kendrick was about to ask but Emma who entered the room distracted him. Emma is surprised to find Kendrick who shouldn't be there.

"Mommy, now Daniel is friends with Uncle," said his son cheerfully.

"Oh, yeah?" Emma stepped closer. He desperately wanted to ask Kendrick to leave but he was unwilling to let his son down.

"Mommy says Daniel can be friends with Uncle. So Mommy's not mad, is she?"

"No, of course Mommy won't be mad."

"Thank you, Mommy. Now Uncle and Daniel are friends."

"That's great, honey," Emma smiled and sat down by her son's side. The look in Kendrick's eyes could not be separated from Emma. Somehow a suspicious feeling arose in his heart.

"You're my sister's fiancee, please don't come too often" Emma said.

"Our relationship is over" Kendrick replied.

"It's none of my business!" emma said coldly.

"Do you have time, Emma? I have something to talk to you about."

"I don't think there's anything we need to talk about," now Emma looks at him but with a cynical look. Emma had never looked at her with such a gaze but now Emma was really a very foreign person and she did not know him at all.

"There's, of course there's even a lot we can talk about."

"Sorry, no. I'm very grateful for your help but because of that, Kimberly hates me. I don't like this situation so I promised Kimberly I wouldn't get close to you so I couldn't!"

"Why did Kimberly ask you to promise me that?" kendrick didn't understand.

"This is my problem with him, it has nothing to do with you!" Emma was still looking at him sharply as was Kendrick. What Kimberly is threatening her own brother and what she's guessing is true. If Emma wants help from her grandfather then she should get married and she should not be close to Kendrick. For the sake of getting help, of course Emma is willing. After all, Kendrick was meaningless because they were both strangers.

"So you won't talk to me?"

"Sorry, no. I don't forbid you from being friends with my son but act like you normally do and don't get close to me because I don't want my brother to misunderstand me and my grandfather to be angry."

"All right but one question and please answer. Four years ago, when you refused to marry me. Where'd you go? Why did you disappear and not be found by your grandfather?" I don't know why that question was asked. Is it because he wants to help Daniel find his father or does he want to find the answer to the question that is in the heart but for sure, that question is very appropriate.

Emma was shocked, her expression changed. Kendrick looked at her closely, reading Emma's fearful facial expression and hiding something. Emma was silent in a thousand languages because she had not received an answer to Kendrick's sudden question and of course that, made Kendrick suspicious. Does Emma have anything to do with the woman who framed her four years ago?
