Papa Rudi's Decision

Alyssa had already arrived at the apartment before lunchtime as she had expected. Nathan is still not back and Alyssa decides to watch TV while waiting for her husband to come home. An hour later Nathan had arrived with the results of his cooking that he made with a feeling of annoyance because for him chef Daniel is a very annoying person.

“Darling, you have returned” Alyssa approached her husband.

“Are you waiting for me long?” Nathan kissed his wife's forehead.

“Yes, you were a long time ago. I miss” Alyssa suddenly acted spoiled to her husband. She held her husband's arm tightly. “What is it?” Alyssa pointed to something that Nathan had brought.

“This for you. You wait here, I will prepare this first”.

Nathan began to prepare the food he had made earlier on the dining table. Alyssa was just watching him. He acted as if what Nathan was doing was a surprise to him. Sarah has sent us a video of Nathan cooking with chef Daniel.

The next days they went normally. Alyssa did her job as a wife well. Fortunately, during pregnancy, she did not have many complaints. No nausea vomiting or strange cravings. It's just that sometimes every night he cries when he sees Nathan falling asleep. She felt sad to see her husband could no longer film because of her.

Nathan has started to return to the office and if Nathan has been to Alyssa's office will meet Maya's mother to ask her for help so that Papa Rudi allows Nathan to film again. Mama Maya did not want to help, but she had already talked about it to her husband. And papa Rudi always tried to divert the conversation if his wife was going to talk about it.

“Sorry son, mama has tried but it seems papa does not want to hear any reason again this time” said mama Maya.

Alyssa felt like there was no hope anymore to make Papa Rudi change his decision. He could not possibly buy time continuously while Alvin was always waiting for his answer.

“Vin, the offer for Nathan was you refuse” Alyssa called Alvin in a voice that sounded disappointed.

“You sure? Did you not manage to persuade your in-laws?” ask Alvin across the phone.

“Papa always avoids me. I asked my mother for help and the result was the same. Papa won't listen to us both”.

“Yes already, don't think about it. You are pregnant, you cannot be stressed. Over time Nathan will definitely get used to office work like this. He can definitely forget his world quickly!” Alvin tried to calm Alyssa down.

Alyssa returned to the apartment again with a sad feeling. She still made dinner for her husband. And when Nathan gets home Alyssa will act like nothing happened.

It's been a week since Alyssa asked Alvin to turn down a movie offer for Nathan. Today is a holiday and Nathan plans to take Alyssa for a walk. But their plan had to be scrapped when mom called asking them to come home soon.

“Ma, why suddenly ask us to come here?” nathan asked as soon as he arrived home and was greeted by his mother.

“Actually papa asked you both to come here”.

“What's wrong ma?”

“Mama also don't know. Let's have lunch first. Mama has cooked well for the two of you” mama Maya immediately took Alyssa's arm to the dining room.

“How is my mother's grandson? Is she fussy?” ask mama Maya.

“No ma, she is very calm inside here” Alyssa replied as she pointed at her stomach.

Papa Rudi was already waiting for them at the dining table. Alyssa could see that Papa Rudi's facial expression was still as cold as the last time they met. They had lunch quietly, no one was chatting while eating. Seeing a slightly tense atmosphere at the dinner table made Nathan so felt like there would be something very important that his father wanted to convey after this. And sure enough as he expected, after lunch papa asked them all to gather in the family room.

“But pa, why so fast? It's too sudden. I don't even understand everything yet. I still need to learn a lot more”.

“This has been papa's decision!”

Yes, papa Rudi's words are like indisputable. Even Maya's mother didn't dare to say anything upon seeing her husband's expression.

Nathan was still thinking about what his father said when he arrived at the apartment. If his father had said so it would mean that he would have to leave the world of cinema for good. Will he be able to do all that? Never in his mind would he stop acting so soon. He still wants a career in the entertainment world at least for ten years. He did think about continuing his papa business later on, but this was too soon for him. Although he already knew this would happen when he decided to ask his papa for help to find Alyssa but it was hard for him to accept that fact now.

Alyssa knew Nathan's nervousness even though Nathan was trying to cover it up. The guilt grew bigger in him. This was not what Alyssa expected, she really hoped Nathan could still act again. And suddenly Alyssa hugged Nathan.

“I'm sorry I” Alyssa. She hugged and buried her head in her husband's chest.

“Why apologize?” Nathan looks confused but returns his wife's embrace.

“This is all my fault! If only I hadn't left that time you would still be able to act. Hiks!” Alyssa started crying.

“No dear, this is not your fault. This has been my decision. After all, I will definitely replace my papa to continue his business. Maybe the time is too fast. No, don't cry anymore!” Nathan wiped away the tears that had washed Alyssa's cheeks.

“I know you are trying to be ordinary but actually in your heart it is not so right? Nathan, we need to see Papa again. I'll talk to papa!”

“No darling! You just rest. I'm really fine. Don't worry too much, I will definitely quickly forget about acting and get used to my new world!”

“Emm.. I am tired! Want to rest” Alyssa hastily entered the room. He did not know what to answer Nathan's question because he did not know about Chef Daniel.
