74. Exchange Hostages

Kevin looked calm even though Gideon kept pointing his gun. The man was not afraid at all. Even he still had a faint smile on his face.

“I know you won't shoot.”

Gideon clenched his hands tightly. A sharp light flashed in Gideon's eyes.

“Do you not have to sit down,” Kevin said.

Gideon raised one of his eyebrows. Looks like Kevin wants to negotiate with Gideon.

“I had to do it. It's these parents who are to blame not me.”

“That's no excuse. He picked you up off the streets.”

“Yes, I thank him for considering me his grandson but he reneged on his promise. He promised that I would own half of his shares but what happened in the end? What outcome? Because I am not from his family. I'm looked down upon?”

“Basically you are indeed ungrateful.”

“What did you say? In terms of ability, I stand out more than you. Before you came back, Grandpa always paid attention to me but when you came back. Everything changed.”

Gideon fell silent.

“Do you know how it feels? Why can the things I have to fight for with all my heart be given to you so easily?”

Gideon clenched his fists tightly as anger rose within him.

If Gideon could not hold back with all his might, Gideon would definitely shoot Kevin to death.

“Are you the one who made the Ruona DNA test pals report?”

Kevin glanced at her and smiled obliquely. “Ya.”

“Your goal is to use it to kill grandfather slowly.why did you do it?"

"I want grandfather to see his destruction."

Simon Cross slowly regained his senses and looked puzzledly at his grandson.

“What really happened?”

Gideon and Kevin turned to the bed.

Simon struggled to get out of bed.

“What do you mean?”

In his agitation, Simon glared furiously.

“Are you planning to kill me?”

“True.”

“How can you be so evil?”

“I only pay for what you did in the past,” Kevin said calmly.

Simon furrowed his brows and so did Gideon.

“Do you really forget, how did you destroy my family?”

“What did you say?”

“Try to remember.”

“I don't want to hear your bullshit. What do you want in exchange for freeing my mother and my brother. No long-winded, mention your terms,” Damian said.

Kevin grunting. “Children like you have no right to interrupt when adults speak.”

“Daniel, out.” Simon's Order.

Damian remained in his place.

“Did you disobey your great-grandfather's orders now?” Simon is back.

“I'll straighten it out. The one standing in front of you is not Daniel,” Kevin said.

Damian lifted his chin. The boy stood beside his father.

Gideon held his son's shoulder.

“Come negotiate. It's clear that you threatened me by kidnapping them. Why don't you choose to go directly against me. I don't have the patience to play around with you.”

Simon seems confused by their conversation because he does not know that Liana and Daniel are in the hands of his adopted granddaughter.

“I want part of CGI Group.”

“How dare you! What are you doing now?”

“Shut! This is none of your business!”

Simon was silent.

“Good,” said Gideon without hesitation.

Gideon's answer surprised his grandfather.

“Is that woman very important to you or are you just playing around with me?”

“I'm not like you who use dirty tricks.” Gideon sneered mercilessly.

“If you try to trick me. Just wait, I'll send their bodies.”

Gideon answered coldly. “How can I play you when my family is in your hands.”

“Good, only with you giving up some of your shares. You can see it live.”

“Of course they're alive.”

“I want to see it with my own two eyes.”

After some consideration, Kevin called his assistant and whispered something to her.

Then the assistant took out his phone and started calling with a video call.

On the screen Daniel and Liana hug each other.

Gideon stared at the screen attentively.

“Say something on camera,” said a bodyguard there.

Damian felt his heart ache when he saw his mother trying to stay calm despite the gripping atmosphere.

“Speaking!”

Liana avoided the camera.

Gideon stared fixedly at Liana's face. His face was truly horrible. Her lips were dry and there were bloodstains everywhere.

“Do you see it now?”

Kevin's assistant immediately ended the call.

“You injured him?”

“I only taught a lesson for his stubbornness.”

“When will you release them?”

“After you sign the contract.”

“Are you going to really release him after I sign his contract?”

“Do you not believe me?”

“You first release one of them then after the document is signed, you can free the rest.”

Kevin thought for a moment before replying, “I can agree terms to release one hostage but someone has to replace it.”

“How will we do that?”

“Tap this child with his mother.”

“Ya,” says Damian.

“No!” answer Gideon.

The father and son replied at the same time. They exchanged looks.

“Why?” ask Damian.

“I won't do it.”

“He can replace his mother as my hostage. The two children could be free once the covenant signature came into force. How?”

“I agree,” Damian replied.

“I disagree.”

Damian's face changed when he saw his father's angry face.

In the car.

Damian turned to his father who was focusing on driving. Damian pursed his lips and swallowed his own saliva.

“Dad..”

“If you want to discuss about hostage exchange eat quietly.”

“Mother injured..I can't stand to see it.”.

At a crossroads, the car stops smoothly when Gideon steps on the brakes at a red light. The man turned to look at Damian.

“I can't lose your mother and that applies to you too.”

“I understand, but mom really—“

“Not mean no. I can't lose any of you.”

“Dad, trust me.”

Gideon turned his face away with an expression difficult to explain.

Damian smiled and approached his father and whispered. Gideon seemed surprised when he heard his son's plan.

Damian looked at his father with a smile.

“Daddy, I won't let you down.”

Gideon's eyes showed annoyance for a moment before covering them with contemplation.

“Promise me, that you will keep your safety.”

“Ya.”

Tin. The sound of the car horn from behind rang out loud.

“Dad, go!” damian's orders.
