[Primary Members Arc - #2]
...----------------...
"Pooch.. The cold.." Exhaling her breath, Araya spoke softly while rubbing her glove-lined palms.
They've been at the North Pole since a few minutes ago. They had already started carrying out the first mission once last while being the primary members.
Walking in the snow is new to Araya, but she previously lived in a tropical country where there were only two seasons.
"Eh?" Araya looked at Steve in surprise. The man had just put his jacket on Araya. And now, he just wears his uniform there is another outfit that he wears.
"You just wear it, I'm not cold." Say it in a flat tone, then start walking again.
"He's not cold? Are you used to it?" Araya asked in her heart, of course she wondered how she said she did not feel cold.
After that, the three of them continued on their way. Only three? Yes, there were only three of them. While Henry and Adli went elsewhere after deciding to split up.
Araya and Lucas immediately stopped the move after Steve stopped suddenly. Staring straight ahead, something managed to make him decide to pause the pace for a moment and re-monitor the transformation tool.
"What's wrong?" Asked Araya while looking at him who was focusing on observing. Steve wouldn't miss a single clue that could be useful.
"Well, there's goa.." Araya spoke softly after seeing the place in front of them. There is a cave that leads underground, where it is in the middle of the snow.
"The "element signal is getting stronger around here. Most likely this is the place. Come on in" said Steve to convince the two colleagues. Slowly, Steve stepped into the cave. Of course it was dark, he lit the illumination with only his transformation device.
Araya stared at the wall of the cave which was made of stone. On the surface, there are scratches. From the motive, Araya hypothesized that the scratches were made during prehistoric times. It could be, the motive must have a certain meaning. A kind of code that holds a secret.
After a few minutes of walking, they again stopped their steps, then looked around. Right in front of them, there was a ravine separating.
"His element signal is really getting stronger, it must be not far away." Muttering, Steve spoke while observing the thirteen-meter-deep ravine.
"I'll be there, you can wait here." Lucas responded, he was already standing near the brink.
"But how? The jump won't come, will it?" Araya was quite surprised by Lucas' words just now. The width of the abyss was about ten meters, could it be jumped without the help of tools?
"That's easy. In there, a lot of rocks. I can go downstairs and then just up." Pointing down, Lucas spoke while putting on a thin grin.
"Huh?"
"Don't worry, I'm a parkour athlete." At a glance, Lucas looked at the worried Araya. Araya had not yet responded, Lucas had jumped immediately.
Do you know the sport of parkour? This sport is fairly extreme, because someone will pass various obstacles as quickly and efficiently as possible only with the body, aka without tools. Generally, this sport is done by men, probably because it is dangerous and triggers adrenaline.
In a matter of seconds, Lucas was already on the other side without any injuries. Araya was amazed to see it. If he had only seen the action on television before, now he sees it in person.
"All right, I'm leaving." Lucas turned around, then walked quickly to continue the search.
"If Lucas' brother is looking for him, what should we do?" Araya asked Steve who had been silent since. They are indeed not people who are exciting according to Araya. Maybe because I am not familiar yet.
"We're waiting, I'll call Henry for a minute too." His reply was flat, Araya just nodded slowly.
While Steve was trying to contact Henry, Araya quietly observed the surroundings. During the mission as a passive member, Araya will get experience that he will not get if he becomes an ordinary person.
"Park Hana, do you know anything?" Woe to Steve while taking his eyes off the tab in his hand.
Araya looked at him, "what?"
"Originally, this is the South Pole."
Araya frowned, she was confused. "South Pole? How can? Isn't the direction of our compass needle pointing north?" Tanya Araya in succession. He also made sure by looking at the compass contained in the tab he brought. Right, the compass needle did point here.
"You know the theory of the Earth's magnetism? The Earth has two poles, right? North and South?"
Araya nodded, Steve will start explaining about it.
"You know the properties of magnets?"
Araya nodded again, "magnet will pull if different poles are brought close to each other, and repel if the same poles are brought close."
"Yes, so is the magnetism of the earth. That concept is what underlies that the north pole of the compass points here, this place is actually the south pole of the earth."
"If it's the north pole, the pole on the magnet is the south pole?" Ask Araya to make sure. Steve nodded. This is a 9th grade physics subject he should have studied with Dae-Vin a few months ago. At that time, Araya did not learn to the maximum, so he did not understand too much about it.
"So, which one is it right?"
"I am also a bit confused. Perhaps this is called the north pole because the north pole of the magnet leads here, so it is easy to remember. It could be so. But, it could also be if the magnet that we usually use as a benchmark is the south pole" Steve concluded. "And did you know that the compass here actually forms a 90-degree angle?"
Again, Steve's question made Araya interested. "How could that be?"
"This place is the earth's magnetic field, like a magnet, if likened to the earth also has a magnetic force line. And this place is the center." As Steve explained, several times their views met. Araya really listened to him. "It was as if there was a large magnet underground, making the compass needle that was here form a 90-degree angle from the horizontal plane. It's called angle of inclination."
Araya nodded slowly, he only learned this. "Oh yes, if you may know, Brother Steve has graduated from college?" Ask Araya on a different topic. Suddenly, he wanted to know that. Because, although quiet, Steve was able to explain smoothly.
"I haven't graduated High School. Just got into third grade, and then asked to join the organization." Steve replied, looking down. "And you're Park Hana, haven't graduated Junior High?"
"Before, I was second grade Junior High. Once our assignments are completely completed, will we continue with school?"
Steve shrugged his shoulders slowly, then looked at Araya with a deep gaze. Araya did not understand what it meant.
For some reason, Araya's heart was pounding at that moment, like someone who was out of shock. He tried to shift his eyes so as not to linger looking at her.
Without realizing it, Steve's right hand held his left shoulder. Araya's feeling was strange at the time. At first he looked at her, then turned back his eyes. He feels uncomfortable.
"Park Hana." he said in a soft tone, a tone different from the previous one. His voice sounded heavier than before.
"Huh-yes? What up.. Brother Steve?" Araya widened her eyes, after realizing that the distance between the two of them was already so close.
"I like you." His whisper was right in front of Araya.
Steve was actually waiting for this moment. Ever since he learned of Park Hana's identity after officially becoming a member, he began to be interested in the boy. Age is indeed a bit far away, but it is not a barrier for Steve to reveal it to Araya. Will Araya accept?
To be continued..
