Chapter 61's

[Desert Mission Arc - #1]

The night was getting late and the two of them were still there. They have listened to dozens of popular songs from different countries.

Dae-Vin turns his face towards Araya who had not spoken. He smiled faintly as he looked at Araya who had apparently fallen asleep.

Her innocent face looks so cute to Dae-Vin. But, of course Dae-Vin still knows himself. He will not do anything to Araya.

"Araya, on the next missions, I will protect you. I'm not gonna let you fall asleep for a long time. I won't let what happened to your father happen to you either. When the time comes, we will not all be separated. We will not fight alone like our seniors used to. We will come back and bring happy news to everyone" Dae-Vin said in his heart.

He was determined to protect Araya. He would also not allow the tragedy that befell their seniors back then to happen to their teams as well. After being told by Professor F and Professor R, he will be able to analyze the error and will try not to repeat the mistake.

"Of course, there's definitely no instant way" Hanny replied without a second thought. Then started walking behind Zaaryan.

As for Dae-Vin, he had already promised himself not to leave Araya as he did during the second mission which was completed half a month ago. Right now, he was walking behind Araya. He'll take care of her.

Right now, it's morning. It's still about eight and a half, so the temperature here isn't so hot.

"Hanny! Zaary! Don't go too far!" araya shouted at the two colleagues who were already about a hundred meters in front of him.

"Don't worry! It's early morning, we'll split up first!" hanny replied in a voice that was no less powerful. It's just that Hanny's screams are a little choppy.

"It's okay Araya, you're not alone" Dae-Vin said as he walked alongside Araya.

"Ehm, yes." reply Araya briefly.

"If you're tired, just say it. We'll take a break" Dae-Vin said. He is still worried about the state of Araya that has not fully recovered. Moreover, his legs that had only healed two days ago, had to be used for this quite heavy mission.

"It's okay, I'm not tired at all" replied Araya without any objection. Dae-Vin just stands still as a form of responding.

A moment later, Araya stopped her steps abruptly. He cast his gaze as far as possible to see the expanse of desert beside his right. There is a tree that looks like a palm tree.

"What's up, Araya?" ask Dae-Vin who managed to resuscitate Araya from her daydream.

"What tree? I saw nothing." looking in the same direction, Dae-Vin frowned in surprise at Araya's words.

After that, Araya ran up to the tree she meant. Immediately, Dae-Vin follows her to the point where the tree grows.

And sure enough, upon a closer look, the tree actually existed.

"A palm tree in the desert?" ask Dae-Vin in a soft voice. "How can I not see it? Is my nearsightedness getting worse?"

"Eitherway. But, I felt something." muttered Araya as she checked her transformation device, then pointed it towards the tree.

The nit! The nit! The nit!

"Well, there's a secret room under this tree" said Araya enthusiastically as she lowered her hand.

"The room? Is this a fake tree just for the marker of that secret room?" ask Dae-Vin inwardly, then walk around the tree.

The palm tree was three meters tall and about eighty centimeters in diameter it looked nothing strange. The leaves are completely motionless because they are not blown by the wind.

Dae-Vin banged his clenched right palm, like he was knocking on the door.

Teng! Teng! Teng!

His voice was awkward, unlike a tree trunk that was hit. The sound was more like a hollow metal being struck.

"It's like there's a cavity inside this tree" Dae-Vin concluded. Araya looked up, staring right at the leaves that were still not open.

The leaf slowly moved as it was blown by the gentle breeze carrying the grains of sand.

The wind also made one of the weakening slightly decreased and finally emerged stairs from the ground. The date can lead them to a secret room underground.

"Hows it? Are we going straight in?" before stepping down the steps, Araya threw a question at Dae-Vin.

"We'll tell the others first. So that they don't worry, we can also tell them that there's nothing." he replied and then sent a signal to Hanny and Zaaryan who were already somewhere else. I don't know why, they were both so excited.

Araya nodded in agreement. After they finished sending the signal, they both passed the stairs.

Taps! Taps! Taps!

"Away.. Darker.." murmured Araya after realizing that from then on they did not arrive. Only the air feels more stuffy, and the lighting is getting dim.

"Hows it? Are we going outside again?" ask Dae-Vin while stopping his steps.

Without turning around, Araya immediately replied, "no need, we still do not know what is there."

In the end, they continued their journey. They had already walked for about two hundred meters into the ground. Until, they had reached into a super-large room, probably as big as their headquarters.

They just saw it from behind the wall. Well, they just looked on without daring to show themselves first.

In that place, many people passed by. The men were mostly men, wearing uniforms and security equipment. It also smells like petroleum.
