Chapter 3 Unsanctioned

Arumi and Hendri looked at each other. Netra Arumi was full of questions to Hendri and full of worries. Hendri knew, surely Arumi was thinking about his mother's words that shook Arumi's heart. Hendri also invited Arumi to leave in front of his mother to invite him to negotiate so that he still got the blessing of his mother.

"Where are you going?" mia asked as Hendri and Arumi had just stood up from her seat.

"I'm going out for a minute, ma'am" replied Hendri.

"Wait a minute, sit down. I want to talk to your girlfriend to get to know her better. What else she hopes to be a mother's daughter-in-law must certainly know her background," said Mia.

They both sat back down. Arumi seems increasingly afraid to face his mother Hendri who will intimidate him.

 

"How's this? I'm so scared of facing Mas Hendri's mother?" Inner Arumi.

"Where is your house?" 

"Ehm..," Arumi hesitantly answered her hands squeezing each other a sign of being very nervous and scared.

"Where is your house? Why shut up if you don't have a house" Mia joked.

Salsa nudged her mother who sat parallel to her, a sign of dislike for her mother who was being rude to her brother's boyfriend.

Arumi shrieked even more, bowing silently, unable to answer.

"Mother..," cried Hendri as if he did not accept his mother yelled at Arumi to make Arumi afraid.

 

"I have to answer honestly about my situation, I can't be afraid to face my future father-in-law. Like it or not I have to be honest," Arumi said reassuringly in her heart.

Arumi let out a long sigh, Arumi will answer honestly about her current state.

"Aunty, I have a home. Aunty can come there if you want," said Arumi boldly.

"Is your house better than ours or not?"

"Honestly, my aunt is not as good as my aunt's house, I just live in a rented house with my grandmother."

"Well!! on contract? So you don't have a house?"

"Not aunty, but later if I have a job I will save and buy a big house" explained Arumi with the pedunya.

"Well!! You don't have a job either?" Mia's head bobble.

Mia was a little shocked to hear Arumi's statement. Who was frank about his situation.

"Hendri, why are you dating a girl like Arumi who has nothing. You should have kept it a secret with Mom all this time. I don't like it, I don't agree you're going to marry her."

 

Arumi was very far from Mia's expectations.

 

Hendri did not dare to deny, that is how Arumi's boyfriend is. Just now Hendri wanted to negotiate with Arumi to trick his mother to get blessing even Arumi said honestly what is. Hendri did not expect Arumi sepede was frank with his mother who is realistic.

"Mom, I love Arumi so much and I'm going to marry her. We are rich and prosperous when we live together. I will work hard so that we live happily and make Mom happy" said Hendri.

"No, I just don't agree that you're married to Arumi who has nothing. I want her to have a richer daughter-in-law who can be happy with me too. If you want to marry someone who exceeds us. If you can't, I can find a soul mate for you."

Arumi did not accept Mia's words, she approached Mia sitting on her knees before her.

"Don't Mom, don't find a mate for Mas Hendri. I love her so much, Mom, I'd love to marry her" Arumi asked for courage while kneeling before Mia who was still sitting on the sofa.

"What can you be proud of for me, you have nothing to hope to be my man. How dare you yes. Poor people don't know themselves. Just find another man, don't marry my son" Mia said insultingly.

Arumi is undaunted by Hendri's mother's insults. He still asked for approval as well as Hendri urged his mother to bless him because they would still marry even without approval.

Hendri's mother did not accept Hendri's attitude. He turned threatening that the two of them keep married Mia will not hesitate to consider them as his son and ex.

"Mother don't, they already love each other's blessing, Mom," said Salsa interfered because she felt compassion with Arumi and her brother.

"No, I won't approve of them."

Mia remains clamorous not respecting their relationship. Mia was furious and left the living room. 

Hendri, Arumi and Salsa are in the living room. Hendri apologizes to Arumi for her mother's rude attitude. Salsa also apologizes to Arumi for her mother's poor treatment of a guest. 

Hendri also drove Arumi home with a feeling of disappointment covering it. They were both disappointed because his good intention to get married was not sanctioned by his mother Hendri. They were very eager to get married but did not get the blessing of either party. Will they still be married even without the approval of Hendri's mother?

Hendri takes Arumi out of his house and will drive him home. The two of them have now come out of the fence of Hendri's house. The look on Arumi's face seemed agitated at the thought of Mia Hendri's mother.

"Where is Mas Hendri, we haven't got your mother's blessing. Are we going to stay married?" Ask Arumi with a face.

"We're going to marry Arumi, we're going to love each other. I'll try to talk to my mom again, hopefully she'll give us her blessing." Hendri convinces Arumi of his lover who feels burdened with his mother's words.

"Amiiin., may your mother bless our relationship, Mas" said Arumi again eagerly hope his mother Hendri bless him.

Hendri drove Arumi in a taxi. Just a few minutes have arrived at the location near Arumi's house. Which is far enough from the highway. Because Arumi's house is in an alley that is difficult to reach by car. 

Arumi got off the taxi and Hendri got off. Arumi asks Hendri to come by her house. Hendri had to tell his grandmother that he was willing to marry her.

"Assalamualaikum..," said Arumi and hendri when entering his house whose door was open. 

Suryati's grandmother who was currently standing by at home quickly answered their greetings.

"Waalaikum salam. Eh.., my sweet granddaughter has come." welcome Grandma Suryati. 

Arumi's hand grabbed Suryati's Grandma's hand and kissed the back of her hand. Hendri also grabbed Grandma's hand and kissed her too.

"Mothers are also Grandma's future grandchildren come here, must bring good news. Let's sit around" Suryati said with pleasure.

There were no chairs in Arumi's house, only a small table on the floor covered with carpet. It was to welcome the guests who came. Arumi and Hendri sat on the floor covered in carpet.
