"Ran, please sort it out. I'm going." Gibran said as he grabbed the keys of the car lying on the floor.
Rani just nodded her head without daring to speak.
Gibran runs his car as fast as he can with his mind muddled by Sabina's refusal. Only this time Sabina acted uncompromisingly. But even so Gibran could not blame his wife because everything Sabina had said was true. Amanda hurt too much.
A cold sweat drenched Gibran's forehead at this moment. In front of him were two paths leading in different directions. The one headed towards the toll which was his way home in Sabina's embrace. The other way to the hospital is where Amanda is currently lying.
The red light in a few seconds will change color and Gibran is faced with such a difficult decision.
The sound of the car horn behind each other is earthy indicating that the traffic lights have turned green but Gibran has not yet run his car.
Gibran closed his eyes and took a deep breath before he decided. "I'm sorry, Bina." Gibran said softly while choosing the path to the hospital. He did it because his phone went off and Gibran was convinced it was from his friend who was taking care of Amanda.
Not that Gibran does not appreciate what Sabina wants but now the logic says if Amanda needs it more because it is related to life, with Sabina he would try to speak again until his wife understood.
Gibran parked his car quickly. He bowed his head as he continued to think and pray that the path he took at this time was the right one. He took a deep breath before finally deciding to get out of his car and walked hurriedly to the emergency room.
"Yet you came too" said Risa's doctor, who had been waiting for Gibran at a table in the room. Amanda lay helplessly in one of the bedding covered with curtains.
"Sorry, I have to finish something first." Gibran replied, saying that he sat down before Risa's doctor and grabbed some paper that the doctor had given him.
"How is he doing now?" Gibran asked without taking his eyes off the papers.
"He was conscious, but now he is resting. Amanda was bleeding from exhaustion until she was unconscious. As you know, Amanda had placenta previa and the location of the placenta covered the baby's entire birth canal, which is what caused her to bleed. And this doesn't seem like the first time for him." Clearly the doctors Risa and Gibran nodded their heads in understanding while looking at the results of the USG Amanda examination which showed what Risa's doctor had just explained.
"Do you need to take action ?" Ask Gibran.
"That's why I called you over and over again. To perform an action on a patient is required a willing statement from his family, and in this case only you are recognized Amanda as family. Therefore, your arrival cannot be represented by anyone" replied the doctor Risa and Gibran again nodded his head in understanding.
"But the baby Amanda was born with didn't weigh enough to be born and she wasn't good enough. An action is needed in the form of drug administration that is inserted through an infusion tube to strengthen the baby's organs before he is born. And that treatment takes about a week. And one more thing, it's been confirmed that Amanda can't give birth normally." Doctor Risa again.
Gibran took a deep breath, he did not expect Amanda to experience severe complications not to mention with infectious diseases ****al which is also in his dream.
"Is the disturbance in the baby due to syphilis ?" Ask Gibran.
"Yes, it could be because it's "
"What's the risk ?" Ask Gibran again, even though he already knows the answer to the question he was asking.
"The greatest risk of the baby being born dead or if he lives will be a failure of organ function that is quite dangerous or defective. I don't know Gibran, we can only predict." Obviously doctor Risa.
"Amanda must be completely bedrest, he must rest completely on the bed and if necessary surgery will be done in an effort to save the mother as well as the baby she contains. Amanda also doesn't have any health insurance to cover everything." Risa's doctor said again and Gibran was just stunned.
Feeling no other choice, Gibran agreed, "Well, I'll sign the family statement and I'll cover all the costs." Gibran replied though he felt heavy because Sabina did not know the truth was happening.
"Thank God, if that's the case, you can finish everything with the administration because I have to go back to my practice."
"Okay, thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it." Gibran said solemnly.
"Either. All right, I gotta go now." Risa's doctor answered and she left Gibran.
Gibran sat in front of several sisters who handled administrative papers and signed several letters including a statement ready for surgery if needed.
"You choose generic drugs or patent ones for your wife's treatment?" Ask one of the nurses to Gibran.
"Patent medicine alone and she's not my wife." Gibran replied with a slight uproar because he was upset. And the nurse was silent and did not dare to ask again.
After completing all the administrative requirements, and Amanda had a room to stay, Gibran took the initiative to meet Amanda who was lying weakly in one of the emergency room beds.
"Manda," said Gibran with his sharp, cold eyes.
Amanda smiled with her pale lips and clear water dripping at the end of her eyes.
Gibran did not answer Amanda's statement. He prefers to sit on a small bench near his ex-girlfriend.
"How are you doing now ?" Ask Gibran.
"Slightly better, but my body still feels weak." Answer Amanda.
"How's my baby ?" Amanda asked as she touched her distended stomach.
"He can survive" Gibran replied briefly.
"I've told you the last time we met if you had a pregnancy disorder and had to take a complete rest. Even work as a dishwasher all. Now it's all hard because of you" Omel Gibran.
"My son and I need to eat and I don't want to keep repotin you even though I end up making it hard for you to keep." Amanda answered with tears streaming down her cheeks.
"That's it, from now on you don't have to work like that anymore. Until your baby is born let me help you,"
"Ta. but I...,"
"And you also have to rest completely on the bed. I will ask someone to accompany and help you. Now I have to go home because Sabina is waiting for me. For the next one my assistant will come here." Gibran said as he stood up.
"Deliver my apology to Sabina. Tell him I'm sorry if I'm always bothering you." Amanda said.
Gibran only smiled faintly without saying yes. She leaves Amanda alone.
The time shows at 9pm and it takes about an hour more to get to his house.
Gibran's stomach had sounded asking to be filled immediately, but his mind was still fixed on Sabina. So he decided to go home without first filling his stomach.
Along the way home, Gibran continued to think about the words he would say to Sabina so that his wife would understand.
The word traitor Sabina had thrown for her was still very disturbing to the mind. Honestly, Gibran would not accept Sabina calling him that.
***
Sabina sat her body on the bed. His face stared blankly ahead, neither crying nor feeling sad. His heart felt empty at this moment.
It was 4 hours after Gibran called but her husband did not return. Sabina knew the choice Gibran took in the end.
Sabina laughed faintly, laughing at herself for thinking Gibran would choose to go home to her.
"It's not Gibran's fault, it's your own fault that you're too high on expectations of him." Lirih Sabina's.
Gibran prefers to take care of Amanda even though he has forbidden it.
"Alright if that's what you want" murmured sabina. It was not only the disappointment Sabina felt at this moment but also the heartbreak.
The roar of the car engine rang out, Sabina knew Gibran had just arrived at his parking lot.
Sabina immediately stood up and walked towards the door of the room and locked it from the inside.
