There is No Need for Love
S2: Huraba Fort

Patience began to tell, May 5 to 10 is a historic date for the Government and the State of the Netherlands to round up its determination to rebuild the Kingdom of the Netherlands after 1939 occupied by Japan. On that date ten years later, once again the Dutch military force rounded up its determination to seize the defense of Huraba in its attempt to combine its military power in North Sumatra, with its military power in West Sumatra.

On May 5, 1949 at 04.00 am the Dutch army from Pijor Koling had carried out a siege of 4 majors against the defense of Huraba that is, from the face, right, left, and right, and behind the spearheaded 2 protagonists of former MB traitor members named Makaleo rank Police Agent Class II and Syamsul Bahri rank Assistant Inspector of Police Class I then became an accomplice of the Dutch army.

At 05:00 am a member of the defense Command Headquarters Huraba A. P Selamat Kero reported to Major Kadiran that the Command Headquarters had been surrounded by Dutch soldiers. Major Kadiran then ordered members of the Command Headquarters to carry out an attack only when the Dutch soldiers fired first.

In the situation that has been besieged, Major Kadiran took steps by ordering a member named Amat Bengbeng to run from the back of the house, then ordered all members who are inside the Command Headquarters, to get rid of the siege through the back of the house by carrying their respective weapons.

It turned out that outside the Command Headquarters there had been an exciting battle, and the left wing of the Dutch army had surrounded the Command Headquarters meeting, so that Major Kadiran could not take any more weapons, he said, he ran in shorts and a sarong through the siege in the rain of gunfire from the left wing of the Dutch army. Fortunately for Major Kadiran he managed to escape safely to the village of Tolang.

Indonesian troops, in the left wing of the defense of Huraba, Section II Company A led by Police Commander Lodewyk Sitanggang could not retreat anymore, and there was shooting and close combat with the Dutch army, and there was a shooting, causing Lodewyk Sitanggang with some of its members to fall in battle. While some of the other members managed to save themselves and run towards Tolang village.

The battle of the middle wing on the main road of the defense of Huraba led by Police Commander Amir Hasan Pasaribu Commander Section I Company A face to face with Captain Swart Commander of the Dutch Forces in Pijor Koling, Kompi, the battle happened fiercely. However, Amir Hasan Pasaribu managed to escape but some of its members were killed, and a Bren Gun was left behind.

From the experience of Amir Hasan Pasaribu delivered in the Battle Seminar of Fort Huraba dated 10 to July 1976 in Padang Sidfemahan recounted.

Apparently around 02.00 midnight Dutch troops had approached Fort Huraba and surrounded it from 3 majors, namely from the right direction through the mountain that encircles the village of Huraba, the middle department with soaring roads circling the village of Huraba, the middle department with soaring roads circling the outpost without disturbing the post and from the rice field department (left wing).

From the Dutch attack tactics, it can be suspected that the purpose of the Dutch attack at that time was to destroy the Republican troops based in the village of Huraba. The Dutch deliberately did not disturb our troops who were in the outpost located between the village of Pintu Padang and the village of Huraba. This outpost is in turn occupied by 3 elements of unity in the village of Huraba.

Our troops did not expect at all that the Dutch army would attack directly into the stomach of the village of Huraba, given that the outpost could not be passed just like that, so for a moment there was a little panic. However, after learning that the Dutch army focused its attack on the village army of Huraba, then our troops gave a heroic resistance, with the determination of Merdeka or Mati than the Dutch colonized.

This battle was frontal with a very close range, which is 5 and 10 meters, because the Dutch troops from the middle wing really had infiltrated into the middle of the village of Huraba.

Amir Hasan Pasaribu, a Japanese machine gun-gun holder with troops living in the house, gave resistance from inside the house, because he did not have time to take a position where Dutch troops surrounded the house from the face, side, side, and rear.

Likewise, other house houses occupied by other troops, have been besieged by the Dutch. Therefore there is no other way to fight and try to get out of the house to take a position.

With the protection of machine gun fire from the other troops, the outgoing members took positions but were so outgunned and killed when it also included auxiliaries carrying houderbak machine gun bullets. Tried out from the side of the house, but met the same fate, hit and died at that time.

With the rest of the bullets left on the machine guns, the troops went out from behind towards the hillside, but on the hill the right-wing Dutch troops had been waiting and firing intense shots at the troops, he said, until there was another close combat and several members were victims at once, only Amir Hasan Pasaribu was the only survivor of the protection of the Almighty God.

Amir Hasan Pasaribu saw with his own eyes how the Dutch soldiers poked the eyes of his friend who had died at that time, stabbing the friend's stomach with a bayonet and removing the intestine from their stomach.

Forces in the right wing of the Huraba defense led by Police Commander Hakim Koto and Police Commander Pauliran Hutabarat were able to escape with their members heading to Tolang village.

The Huraba rearguard was led by Commander Machmud Police and ALRI forces led by Lieutenant W. Napitupulu had held a fight with the Dutch troops who could cut from behind the defense of Huraba.

The troops who managed to save themselves and retreat to Tolang village arranged the defense in the village, to face the possibility of the Dutch army advancing to the village of Tolang.

The Dutch troops who pounded from behind the defense of Huraba advanced forward by holding a siege on the dormitory of Brigade B forces led by Lieutenant Suharak and the Battle Command Headquarters of the Huraba Defense.

The besieged Suharak troops could no longer get out of the house used as their dormitory, and every member of the troop who jumped from the house was shot directly by the Dutch soldiers who had been waiting for him below. The besieged troops suffered 12 casualties, while Lieutenant Suharak with some of his members managed to escape to the village of Tolang.

In the village of Tolang, Major Kadiran reassembled members of his troops who managed to save themselves and with the addition of 1 Company assistance from Tolang led by PIP. I Usman and Lieutenant Purnomo of Brigade B, prepared a counterattack.

The defense in Huraba which had been occupied by the Dutch army was now attacked by troops led by Major Kadiran. The battle occurred again and with the help of mortar fire, at 15:30 pm the fighters managed to drive the Dutch forces from Huraba. At 16:30 the defense in Huraba had been re-occupied by Indonesian forces.

In this battle the Karasidenan Tapanuli Mobile Brigade suffered losses of 10 members. Police Agent Selamat Kero, the defense command staff of Huraba captured by the enemy and together with the retreating Dutch troops were taken to Padangsidemuan.

On the part of Brigade B Skull Company killed 12 people including Bachtiar, while the loss of weapons from Brigade B was 24 pieces of weapons, Mobile Brigade 2 pieces of anti-aircraft weapons, and the loss of weapons from Brigade B, 1 Bren Gun, 8 USA Johnson rifles and 1 Vickers pistol. Losses on the part of the people 3 houses were burned by the Dutch army. The bodies of these fallen fighters were transported by pedicure to Tolang and buried in Tolang by Military Ceremony.

According to news from the Head of Intelligence/Sabotage PIP. I. Maruli Hutabarat in Padang Sidfemahan attack of Dutch soldiers to Huraba suffered a lot of losses. Many Dutch soldiers were sent to the Padang Sidwuan hospital and some bodies were transported to Sibolga.

Since his attack on Huraba on May 5, 1949, then until the cease fire in September 1949, the Dutch army never again carried out an attack on Huraba.

Only Major Kadiran had ever received a letter from the Commander of the Dutch army at Padangsidemuan Overste De Vries which was also signed by the Regent Prince Nasution, a Dutch official, twice, as well, the first letter was carried by Mobile Brigade member Ali Mustari and the second by Mobile Brigade member Pipin Siahaan.

The point is that in order to surrender with the promise of a good position and rank, but the submission must be with all members and if approved will be appointed a place for submission.

The letter was replied by Major Mas Kadiran who was brought by a female merchant named Mariam and read: To surrender cannot, please come to Huraba, if you really want to colonize, if you really want to colonize, we accept with our peanut.

Patience laughs miris. "Where is Rul".

"Why Bones ?".

"This is certainly not comparable to what happens in Java, or in other big cities outside Java, how it might be put into the curriculum".

"It's probably Uncle". Risda.

Patiently looked at Risda and returned smiling. "How is Boru possible ?".

"There are many possibilities that it was Uncle. First, the history curriculum was divided into two, the national curriculum and the local curriculum. The national one is determined by the center and the local one is the local team godokan, that's where it's all loaded".

Asrul thumbs up. "That's a brilliant idea, matching Bones ?".

Patience comes back. "Where is Rul?, where do we go to get the possibility of division of the curriculum".

Asrul and Risda both nodded their heads, but then Risda clapped once, giving a thumbs up. "There's Uncle".

Patient frowned. "I mean Boru ?".

"It doesn't have to be Uncle's history subjects. But using the Local Load subjects. Why should we discuss culture and language there, also enter the history of why Uncle?, time can not ?".

Patience smile, what Risda said there is indeed a point, very grateful sense, as a teacher of history subjects, Patience has actually done many things, when delivering lessons, as a teacher of history, Patience also often associated it with resistance movements against the Dutch, especially in South Tapanuli.

But of course it is not enough, if what Risda said can be done, it would be nice, but Patience still has not found anything that can make Risda's proposal can be lifted, he said, local content becomes official salary, there is a team prepared to prepare the curriculum and material, unfortunately Patar is not in the team.

"Good idea Boru, Uncle will try to propose it".

Risda smiled crisply. "Maybe it will help Uncle a lot, it feels unfair, the children of South Tapanuli do not know what happened and what happened to his predecessor in defending this land".

Asrul embraced and shook Risda's shoulder with a smile. "For a long time my wife is suitable teacher History only, no longer need teacher Bahasa Indonesia, want ?".

Risda grinned. "Where can".

Patience so laugh again, he knew that talking with Asrul was indeed exciting, there would be many new things that can be Patient, especially Asrul was in the capital of the country. But Sabar only knew that it turned out that talking with Risda was just as interesting, Sabar knew that the two were indeed the same as her educated teacher, so it was natural that her speech was very connected.

"Riss, photo yuk ..".

Risda turned her head, immediately smiling at Citha who invited her. "Ready Aunt, come on".

Risda stood up and pulled the hand of Asrul, so Patience also so stood up, then photo activities with various styles, Chita looked very happy, as well as Risda. Even the two-year-old daughter of Patience Yulia looked a lot more acting, posing with her sister in many styles.

In the afternoon, they all returned home, but not to the house of Patience, but they went straight to the house of their oldest brother Rohim, Bones Besar said Asrul, Rohim had also returned from his vacation, the arrival of Asrul is indeed one of the reasons, although Rohim is disappointed Farhan has gone home first.

Fauziah immediately greeted Asrul and Risda as soon as he got out of the car. Risda also immediately ran after Fauziah, the two immediately hugged until it turned round, again Natalia and Haris seemed haru, not expecting Risda to be so close to the Asrul family, the way they met described everything.

Fauziah kissed Risda and Asrul alternately, Fauziah's eyes were even covered even though his lips were still smiling. Before entering the house everyone had shaken hands with each other, Asrul had also introduced Haris and Natalia to everyone, only then the same entered.

Rohim's living room is now filled with laughter, two of Rohim's children from under Husni and the youngest Fadhil have begun to seduce Asrul and Risda not to go home, but how, how, plane tickets have been booked at once, tomorrow morning they have taken up to Jakarta, inevitably have to go home.

After the prayers of the magrib congregated and dinner together, the tears that returned to become the ruler, especially Risda, Fauziah and Citha. All three are already eager, Fauziah and Citha like not tired of hugging and kissing Risda, for both Risda is no longer just the wife of their nephew, but already like their own daughter.

On the lid of the wave of hands, Haris, Natalia, Asrul and Risda slid slowly leaving Rohim's courtyard, Risda was still unable to wipe away her tears, asrul was just beginning to feel a clear flow in the corner of his eye. Asrul only felt lonely when he really left his mother's hometown.

Asrul tries to calm down because he is the one who holds the wheel, the journey home is always so, more silence, because it leaves loved ones, people who do not know when they can meet in person again. Asrul is very aware, he himself last before this got here already five years ago.

Asrul comes face to face with all of his mother's siblings, before this took place during his wedding reception with Risda, it was already over two years ago. Distance is indeed a barrier, it can really look at each other through video calls, but meeting in person is much more meaningful.

Still early in the morning they had arrived in Padang, no longer stopped at the representative office, Hadi who came to the airport to pick up the car they were using, breakfast at the airport, met Hadi for a while, Hadi, a moment later the plane that brought them back to Jakarta was already in the air.
