Chapter 50 The Light of the Past

People say that first love is the hardest to move on, and the least likely to dock into marriage.

Although sometimes the word people is not entirely right, but sometimes it is not entirely wrong. And that's what I've been through and I've been worried about until now.

"Who is that, baby? Do you still love him now?" ask Edward again, but Rachel just silently did not respond.

"Rachel," called Edward as she looked at Rachel as if she were daydreaming.

"Just forget about that guy dad, after all we won't be able to be together" Rachel replied quickly.

Edward knitted his brows, "why is he, baby? Does she have a boyfriend?" edward and Rachel asked, shaking her head, "is it because she's married? Dear God, do not love a married man, there are still many other men," continued Edward a little excited by his own misunderstanding.

"Geez dad, Rachel still has common sense, Rachel can't possibly save feelings for a married man. The point is this guy's single, Rachel assures him, but Rachel can't continue with Rachel's feelings because something's getting in our way and it's enough me and her that know dad, but Rachel can't get on with it, Rachel didn't want to add to the burden of dad's mind" Rachel explained, making the frown on Edward's forehead all the more obvious.

"Rachel, you're making me even more curious now, what are you hiding?" search Edward.

"Just forget dad, let's finish this food until it's not left, Rachel's so hungry" Rachel said. Really, he really didn't know what to answer if Edward kept pushing him.

A 24-year-old man was sitting by the bed holding his comatose father's hand.

"Hello daddy, it's been 3 years daddy like this, what daddy doesn't miss Calvin, Calvin misses daddy so much, miss daddy nagging when Calvin comes home in the middle of the night, and long for daddy's wise advice when Calvin's down. Calvin has just launched his new comic, and not only do kids love it, but adults love it. Forgive Calvin, for not continuing the struggle of daddy leading the DA Group, Calvin just felt it inappropriate to continue the leadership of daddy in that company." Calvin breathed a rough breath because again his father did not give any response when he spoke to him.

Doctors once told him that people in comas cannot respond directly to stimulation from the outside, but 15-20% of people in comas can hear what is happening around them, not even a few can cry.

Although it cannot be confused with other coma patients, Calvin still thinks positively about his father's circumstances. That is why, he often invites Darold to speak even though he does not get a response.

"Oh yes daddy, Calvin has a big secret that until now Calvin has not told daddy." Calvin was silent for a moment. "Daddy knows, since 3 years ago, Calvin picked up mommy in exile, and mommy always regularly visit daddy every day. Even mommy always accompanies daddy when Calvin is busy outside." After waiting for a few seconds, Calvin again exhaled his coarse breath. He thought that Darold still did not respond to Calvin's voice, but in the next second, a tear appeared to flow from Darold's closed eyes.

Realizing that, Calvin grew excited. "Mommy, daddy's crying" he said enthusiastically to Rossa who is currently sitting on the sofa peeling the orange peel for him to give to Calvin.

"really?" Rossa who was not enthusiastic immediately stood up and walked closer to Darold.

"Daddy started crying when Calvin told me about mommy, now try mommy talk to daddy, maybe it can provoke his response," Calvin said as he moved to make room for Rossa.

"Hi Darold, it's me Rossa, do you still remember my voice? You know, I used to hate you so much after you took Calvin away from me and took me into exile. But as time went on, I began to make peace with my hatred because I realized that hating would only damage my heart and mind. So, even though those bad memories are still I always remember, but I no longer hate you, even if you apologize, then I will forgive you. Therefore, wake up, you must apologize to me, so that we can reconcile." After Rossa spoke, Darold's tears again flowed to wet his pillow.

"Doctor, look, daddy began to respond to our words through crying, could that be a sign that daddy would soon wake up?" calvin asked the doctor who had just arrived after he called him.

Doctors examined Darold's pupils again by pointing a flashlight at his eyes, but Darold's pupils still did not respond to light. However, when the doctor examined the EEG recording monitor (electroencephalography), he observed the wave lines generated from Darold's brain activity, and it was true, when Darold cried, he said, there were several new waves that indicated progress towards his brain activity.

"Thankfully, Mr. Darold's condition is increasingly showing progress, always talk if you need to say something that can provoke a quick response," said the doctor before he finally left Darold's nursery.

"You hear baby, say something that can provoke your daddy's response, if your daddy only cries when you tell him about mommy, try telling me something else that could affect your daddy's emotions," rossa muttered while patting Calvin's shoulder.

Slowly he came back towards Darold and sat down on the chair right beside Darold's bed.

"Dad, forgive Calvin for making daddy disappointed, but Calvin is completely helpless against Calvin's own feelings. Actually, Calvin loves a woman, Calvin has long loved her, even after 3 years we never met, Calvin's feelings still remain the same as before. Daddy certainly knows who that woman is, she's Rachelia Edward. Calvin was very hopeful, one day daddy could bless our feelings. Because we love each other but must be hindered by past events." Calvin again awaits Darold's response, hoping that his efforts this time will bear fruit.

A few seconds later, the alarm on the ICU monitor connected to Darold's body rang due to Darold's sudden increased heart rate. Calvin was surprised and called the doctor.

A few minutes passed, Calvin was still pacing around the room waiting for the doctor to check on Darold.

"What did I do wrong? How come this is it, "monologist Calvin with his hands that are always moving restlessly.

"Did you say something to your daddy, baby? ask Rossa who feels Calvin's uneasiness.

"Yes mom, it looks like Calvin's been wrong." Calvin grabbed his hair in frustration.

Shortly after, the doctor and several nurses came out of Darold's room. "What did you guys just say to Mr. Darold?" ask the doctor with a serious face.

"Sorry doctor, I. I'm just saying things that maybe daddy doesn't accept" said Calvin's great-grandson.

"Then your efforts succeed, Mr. Darold is conscious" said the doctor, who smiled.

"I'm sorry Doc, I was wrong, I...." Calvin stopped his words as he began to understand the doctor's words, "what? did daddy mean to be conscious?" calvin asked again to be sure, and the doctor nodded.

"What's really?" peekkik Calvin was excited and then ran into the room followed by Rossa.

"Daddy.." call Calvin when he sees Darold looking in all directions with a very weak look.

"Calvin," called Darold looking towards Calvin in a weak and slightly hoarse voice.

Calvin's eyes now glazed over, he walked straight towards Darold and immediately hugged him. "Thank you daddy, thank you for holding on so far and being sober" she hugged Darold.

Darold's hand slowly raised rubbed Calvin's back gently

"How long has daddy fainted?" darold asked softly, making Calvin take off his embrace.

"Daddy, daddy wasn't unconscious, but daddy was in a coma for 3 years" Calvin said.

"really?" darold asked but he was not surprised at all, as if he was just making sure.

"Yes dad" Calvin replied, then shifted so that Darold could see the existence of Rossa who was a little far behind him.

"Rossa?" lirih Darold with eyes that began to glaze over.
