My feet feel weak and powerless. My joint bones even feel like a bunch of useless stuff. It's not just my feet and my lips that can't move. My whole body feels dead.
He, up ahead I can see how my husband's body is lying limp on the cage. An infusion hose is seen stuck on his left wrist.
At exactly 1pm, Andri came to pick me up. He who said at the time that Valdi needed me didn't say much. Even along the way his famous cherry blossom turned quiet. I who was in a state of mind did not care much about him. In my mind there was only my husband's face.
"He why?" Tanyaku.
Andri and some friends don't know who they helped me get my limp. They sat me down on a bench next to the cage.
"Accident." I looked up, looking at Andri who was trying to turn her face away from me.
I spread my eyes around the room. Only then did I realize that the face was trying to dodge.
I held tightly to Valdi's free fingers. I rubbed his forehead which had a wound with a fairly wide bandage there. It hurts my heart to see him helpless like this. My smiling husband welcomes me home with his warm embrace, silent with his eyes closed.
Circumstances don't allow me to keep asking questions. Looking tired as well, Andri insisted on accompanying me tonight. While the others passed away after saying goodbye to me.
"I'll stand guard outside huh, Ar. If you need anything, just call. Or you can just send me a message." I nodded, but my gaze was still on my husband's body.
The treatment room is in grade 3, a room reserved for shared patients. There were a lot of patient beds lined up on my husband's right and left. There was only one table and one bench there.
In the morning I washed my face. Last night I did not sleep, just silently staring at my husband's face which turned out to be still closed eyes.
Andri came with a package. It looks like he has come out earlier, as evidenced by the presence of plastic groceries with a minimarket logo there.
"I bought you breakfast, Ar. There is also bread and milk, later I will lend a flask to a friend. Make preparations to brew milk or tea."
"When will he realize, An? why so long?" I didn't comment on Andri's words about food, I was more worried about my husband's condition. Since I set foot here until now it has shown at 6 am he still feels at home with his eyes closed.
"Later 8 o'clock the doctor will come to check his condition. Maybe the effect of the drugs is why he hasn't woken up yet."
"Tell me the truth. My husband rarely rides a motorcycle. Moreover, the motor he used was not his."
Andri was silent, she just looked at me. There was confusion in his eyes, but I waited for him to tell me.
"Let me tell you. For now you better focus on taking care of her, she needs you. Ar, you need to remember, whatever you hear later. Trust me, Valdi loves you." I stared questioningly. Andri's words are very confusing to me right now. Or maybe my brain that feels full is no longer able to think.
"He was even willing to be beaten up like this to defend himself. I don't know what's right and what's wrong. But I'm sure Valdi didn't do what they accused him of. He won't betray you, because he loves you so much Arsita."
Andri monologues in his heart, while staring at the couple who hold each other in front of him. Arsita was holding her husband's hand.
