THE LORD OF THE OTHER WORLD

THE LORD OF THE OTHER WORLD
Chapter 9: The Big Builder of Fish Cakes

After a long conversation with Mavis, the boy named Elizia became calmer and familiar. He told me a lot about his life in the slums along with the other children. The place is like a place for a dump of children, in between they are even children who have been abandoned since they were babies in the slum. Some do not know who their parents are, others remember it, but choose to forget it. A wise man once said, Bad memories are better not to be remembered.

After all, they were still lucky enough that someone had saved them. According to what Eliza conveyed, all this time who took care of them was Lady N'am—this fishbreadbreadbread woman, and also her son, Miss Enid—a very good traveling sovenir seller.

Mrs N'am is very generous. Even though the children had grown up to a sufficient age to feed themselves, he still prepared dried fish cakes to each of them. Of course the children did not want to always trouble the woman, they got fish cakes in equal exchange. They worked by helping sell Enid's sovenirs around the market area. Well, although rarely would anyone want to buy their wares. Bad luck is not uncommon they meet, when dealing with robbers and market thugs.

As their turn arrives, Romi pulls Elizia's arm and takes her sister inside the store, leaving Mavis still trapped outside. It took about five minutes for the two to come back out with glowing faces. Be it her sister or Elizia, both of their hands clasped tightly onto a brown paper container, which contained several fish-shaped pastries.

Seeing Mavis smiling at him, Romi hurriedly hid hers behind his body, then threw a cynical look, hinting to stay away from her. He walked away from the place, and Elizia bade Mavis, and soon followed her brother who had gone before her.

"Well we meet again, Uncle!" The short-haired cute boy walked back while waving his hand towards Mavis. He smiled, really smiling sincerely because for him the meeting with Mavis was a pleasure in itself. Elizia enjoys the moment while chatting with Mavis. Leaving aside the fact that he had not long known Mavis, but one thing Elizia believed was that the man she called her uncle was a good man.

Uncle huh? Mavis actually did not think, could-can the little girl call him uncle, whereas Mavis himself was only eighteen years old! Could he be that old to be worthy of being called an uncle? Mavis could only laugh inwardly and not take the prihal giddiness, for her it was just a cuteness that came from the words of a boy.

"Excuse me ...."

"Welcome home."

"Oh, you guys, please sit down."

Seeing the arrival of the different Mavis group with those from the slums, the orange-haired lady momentarily fell into a daze, but soon came to a realization and hurriedly invited them to sit down. Next the woman approached Mavis' desk carrying a paper order and a pen.

"May I ask you about the people who just came? Did they get free food from this store?" mavis said with a calm face.

"They did get it for free .. but I'm sorry, sir, with a heavy heart the fish cakes we give away for free are only for those in need."

"It looks like there's a misunderstanding here, I didn't mean to get it for free, but rather I just wanted to confirm the truth, that's all." Mavis then smiled awkwardly and waved her hands low. "Then, how many fish cakes does this store still have? If possible, can I buy everything?"

"Yes?"

The woman rounded her eyes and was astonished, then threw a skeptical gaze towards Mavis. In his heart he wondered, could it be that his hearing was not in trouble? Is that guy really going to buy all the leftovers?

"So it looks like it's all over." Seeing how the woman's expression was, the origin Mavis guessed.

"Eh, no, no."

"There's still some fishcake stock that hasn't been sold today."

"I'm sorry, I'm just surprised that there are usually no visitors who come to buy orders in large quantities." A smile fell on his face, then continued, "Then I will soon return to bring you some fish cakes to eat. After that, I'll prepare all the orders."
