Chapter 36: The Rage of the Crow Leader

Concentrated blood dominated by green color, inundated almost all corners of the inner part of the fortress. There can still be seen some of the remains of the bodies of the beasts scattered in various places, due to the limited manpower in charge of handling the corpses.

Yes, the humans are actually the residents who were previously held captive by the beast creatures. Although not one hundred percent believed, but at least in their eyes Samantha and the others were very much better than the beasts. They are more treated humanely even though they still have an obligation to work, they do not mind.

Under Samantha's control, the residents resumed their normal activities as usual and worked to help rebuild the region. Unlike before, now they are divided into several new tasks, according to their respective expertise. That way everything goes much more efficiently and the residents who live it also feel happy and unencumbered.

"After things have returned to normal, what are our next steps?" itsuna said with her curious face.

Inside the big tent—former leader of the beast beast before, the shadow creatures gathered to hold a small meeting while enjoying a tea. There everyone is present, except Violet and Scott who go to do their job. As always, Samantha is the only one in focus. Samantha was like a mother among her children.

"We'll go to the next fort after Violet and Scott return. Also, we should wait for the soldiers sent from Baratajaya kingdom to arrive. It shouldn't be long."

Samantha answered with a small smile. In his view, it was good to anticipate a hidden attack when they left this fortress and continued to attack on the next target. With the help of troops from the kingdom of Baratajaya, security in this fortress at least there is still hope.

"It's been two days since we settled in this place, but there hasn't been a single sign on their side of making any meaningful movements. It looks like this time Violet and Scott are working very well in blocking the warning messages sent to the other fort," Becca said.

"Yes, they both seem to be serious about doing their job." Samantha said as she nodded slowly.

"I agree."

All the shadow creatures present finally agreed to what Samantha said, Becky was no exception. Not merely because he was the one appointed directly by Mavis as the chairman or representative in this expedition team, but because among them, Samantha was the wisest in making a decision.

The meeting ended with a small talk regarding the development of the fort, not too important. Meanwhile, elsewhere, not far from the position of the fortress where the shadow creatures were located, a crow with a half-human body came entering a meeting hall.

Inside the room, it appeared to have sat another black crow with a body almost twice as large and emitting an even more dense aura of darkness. The crow looked seriously at his subordinate who had just entered his room in a hurry. His subordinate was really interrupting his rest time.

"What's up! Why does your face look so pale?" The crow leader asked with a slightly frowning face.

"Sorry for the interruption sir, our team has returned from the investigation into the twenty-first fort, here I would like to present the report."

"Good, Sir. The messengers from the communications hall assigned to the fort have been found dead at the border by our team of investigators. After observing the traces of attacks on their bodies, it seemed like they were all hunted down while about to escape and report."

"How come? What about the condition of the fort, have you guys gone to investigate?" said the leader of the crow while clenching his fists.

"So far our team is still lurking from a great distance just in case. According to our investigation hall, it is very likely that something bad has happened in the fort, in which case we are still waiting for direct direction from Mr."

"Damn it! What did the boy really want to do this time?" The crow leader was furious, he got up and released a fist towards the wall of the room by exerting some of his strength.

A puff of smoke was created followed by a deep punch in the wall area. Everyone present in the room held their breaths in nervousness, they knew that the attack that had just landed on the side of the wall indicated that the master was in a bad mood.

"Sir, please give the order."

The bodyguard who had previously stayed on the right side of the leader, came forward and took a respectful position.

"Go and prepare the troops immediately! This time I won't give the boy another chance!"

The crow leader walked out of the room with an annoyed face, followed by his bodyguard. Inwardly, he deeply cursed that one stupid wolf. Though he had been patient enough to tolerate all the transgressions he had committed, if not for the headquarters in the capital that gave him a side duty to watch over the wolf, he must have killed her a long time ago.

"Sir, are we really going to take over the fort?"

On the way the bodyguard asked the crow leader. A look of doubtful countenance was seen as he stared at his superior.

"Had he played around enough, did he think killing my people could be considered a small thing? Damn, it's obvious that he's intent on insulting me! This time I will kill him with my own hands, no matter if the headquarters takes action, I will bear the punishment later!"

"But sir, the investigation team has not even confirmed what happened in the fortress, what if it was from an outsider? It's too dangerous, sir!"

"You mean those lowly humans? Don't talk nonsense! How could they do all that? Although the investigators found dead did not possess such a powerful force, but when compared to the humans, it was still too far apart the power between them. Those humans are so weak, there's no way they're."
