THE LORD OF THE OTHER WORLD

THE LORD OF THE OTHER WORLD
Chapter 42: Threats and Anxiety

Elsewhere, when one of the scouts from the outermost guard post barged into the meeting hall, anxiety emanated from the look on May's face. In fact, the meeting had just begun to discuss the next plan in taking over the entire northern continental landmass. However, it is unexpected that news of the emergence of some foreign figures was heard directly by the king. The leader of the snake faction was clearly aware that the entity behind the chaos being discussed was Samantha's existence along with her team. They were the party from the human stronghold who had previously communicated with him.

May has indeed given a reply letter regarding the agreement to hold a secret meeting. He thought it was good to agree that the meeting point was within the beast realm, so he had the advantage when negotiations occurred. However, he did not know that his plan was actually causing chaos. He had been careless for giving them a reason to attack his own outer defensive base. May had completely forgotten the fact that many of these savage beasts did not possess any intelligent sense. He guessed that one of them must have provoked the side of Samantha and the others.

Now after all this mess, May has lost confidence in the king. In fact, he planned to inform the king of his secret negotiations when this meeting reached its end. However, as a result of this bad news having come first, he became restless.

"How much is the loss on our side?" The king asked the scout. He was still with his calm disposition.

"Master, the entire legion of two from the wolf army and the black crow army have been crippled. One of their leaders has been killed and the other has found no trace of his whereabouts."

"Is there a detailed report of the ability of the enemy to carry out the attack? Knowing that our leading legions were destroyed without being able to send a warning letter, weren't these enemies too powerful? What do you think?" The king asked the leaders of the factions present at the meeting.

"Master, I think they can't be underestimated. They must be very strong, I'm afraid they can even rival one of us faction leaders. Not long ago I had the chance to observe one of those crushed legions, but they were clearly not exactly weak among the other legions. Moreover, the second legion of the crow is one of the strongest legions under Cosmo's command" replied Fray.

"I also agree with what Fray said. Think that they could even finish off the two legions with just a few dead soldiers on their side" said Vermont, leader of the fox faction.

This Vermont was one that had high intelligence among the faction leaders present. Of course it was very easy for him to measure the level of strength of the enemy. He didn't want the king to mistake this mess for a soldier from the Cosmo faction who was too weak. He himself had a closeness to that one leader. He felt he had a responsibility to help deal with the problems of his associate faction while he served elsewhere.

Not unlike Vermont, Fray who is the leader of this cat faction also has a good relationship with Beta. He also wanted to validate the strength of the two legions under Alpha and Beta command.

Both leaders of this faction supported the colleague with their respective arguments. However, of course the instincts possessed by the beasts made the leaders of the other factions join in calling for his dissatisfaction. They really liked to drop fractions against each other just because they wanted to stand out in front of the king.

Hearing the commotion that did not subside made the king forced to growl loudly. Everyone is silent too.

"Master need not worry. If they are killed while facing the enemy, blame themselves for being too weak. Those enemies should be easy to conquer when faced with me."

"Please! You think your bull legion is better than mine?" Beta shouted as she felt her pride had been trampled by the bull leader.

"You want to protest? Why don't we prove now who's stronger?"

"Taurus, do you think I've been quiet for not daring? If it wasn't for the Alpha holding me back, I might have finished you off a long time ago!" Beta then slowly began to transform into wolf form. He could no longer hold back his long-buried hatred for Taurus. The bull leader really made him sick.

"A coward like you can even kill an ant soldier?"

Beta then darted with his wolf form, trying to hit Taurus with a slashing motion using his arm. On the other hand, Taurus who realized the attack also took a standby motion by lifting his large weapon. But unfortunately, before the two had clashed, a small blade had already floated very quickly towards the two. Then the two reflexes immediately deflected the knife, then both glanced towards the figure who had just attacked the two.

"Enough! You guys want to destroy this place? Go if you want to fight! How dare you act disrespectfully before your king?" May, who did not want this meeting to be even more rowdy, finally took action.

Soon the leader of the snake faction walked closer to the king and whispered something. Seeing May's actions too close to the king also provoked the dislike of some faction leaders. However, no one dared to openly call out his complaint. Because, everyone knows very well that May is the bottom most favored by the king.

"Hamm. Hm...." The King kept silent and said what May had said while she was whispering.

After all, then all who saw fell in confusion each. You see, May looks so clumsy as if she has made a big mistake. Likewise, the King who only remained silent after hearing the whisper from his subordinates. Some of the leaders of this faction began to suspect that the King seemed to be angry with May. Only, what they did not know was the fact that the king was having his own anxiety. For some reason, his premonition as the master of beasts was being threatened. She really did not understand, why she could be intimidated just by hearing May's words just now.

The King had tried to keep a calm look on the surface, but it turned out that it still looked unkind and was realized by the faction leaders present. He was immersed in his thoughts on dealing with the matter, including thinking of ways that all the faction leaders present did not know that May had little involvement behind her. He was very sure if they found out, May's position close to him would turn awkward. He didn't want that to happen. The King really did not want to be far from his most beloved subordinate. Although this time he felt disappointed that May did not discuss this matter first with him.
