"Hey, what's your problem? Why stay in the middle of the road? Are you tired of living, huh?"
A man shouted from the top of the vehicle he was riding. It was coming from the direction behind the Mavis group being at the moment. The man threw a sharp glare, a frown was visible there. The identity of the man was basically a merchant who had just returned from his journey. Actually there is nothing wrong with his attitude, still understandable because he was angry not without cause, it was because Mavis and her servants were blocking the road so that the vehicle could not pass.
The commotion invited a small show for the visitors around. With complicated feelings Mavis was immediately pulled over to give way to the merchant. After the embarrassing incident he no longer said a word and hurriedly carried the shadow creatures away and mixed with the crowd. He was so embarrassed to death, like a hick who had only come to the capital for the first time, that was the picture of the situation they had just experienced.
Of course, Mavis did not show any real expression on the surface. He remained calm and relaxed as he continued on his way to the place recommended by the innkeeper.
About fifteen minutes the group walked through the market, arriving at the end of the market border with slums. One thing Mavis realized was that once it turned towards the deserted alley, the shop buildings lined there were almost all closed. The condition of the atmosphere of the alley was enough to make Mavis stunned, the reason is so dead and the streets and everything that looks very different to the circumstances outside gang—it is even worse than the market area in the empire. However, strangely a store still appears to run its business in that place.
From a distance Mavis could see a small line extending down the alleyway from inside the shop, if the vision was not wrong, those who lined up were small children and elderly parents. They were like rows of tramps, wearing dirty clothes and also torn.
"Uncle, please queue."
As Mavis was about to cross the line from the side of the leisurely road, a little boy pulled Mavis's robe from behind. The child's face turned irritated, pouting with his expanding cheeks. As soon as Mavis turned her head and looked into her eyes, the little boy boldly looked into the look in the man's eyes without turning his face away. Before long the boy reacted again, he pointed towards the other children and some elderly who were lined up while looking down.
"My friends have been waiting in line since this morning, Uncle can't cheat!" Next the boy moved and dabbed his waist in front of Mavis.
Of course it infuriated all shadow creatures, but Mavis held them back from doing anything excessive to this child. Indeed, his attitude was very rude and disrespectful, only Mavis could understand that because this little boy lived in a harsh environment. One thing that made Mavis pay attention to this boy, in contrast to the other little ones, and even the elderly, was only he who was being brave like that before her. Although it was previously a Star-like figure that cast a hostile gaze, the child still remained silent, blocking the path of the Mavis group. The boy's body was actually trembling, it was just that he was still acting as if he was strong on the surface.
Mavis suddenly smiled at the boy, then chuckled and ruffled the boy's hair. Of course the boy was astonished by Mavis' change in attitude, now he actually saw the man in a different way.
"Why do you see me like that? Did I make another mistake?" Knowing the boy was still staring at him skeptically, Mavis eventually reopened a light conversation with him.
"You—" The boy became misbehaved after being caught off guard by Mavis. He hurriedly turned his face and turned his back to walk back into the line.
"What's your name?"
"Huh, whoever my name is what do you care?" The boy folded his hands on his chest while snorting in annoyance. He did not even bother turning his tiny body to answer the question from Mavis. Isn't this so funny? What would he have in mind if he knew he was dealing with a young emperor. Moreover, his attitude was very disrespectful, even now he was ignoring his questions too much.
"Uncle, I'm sorry for my brother's bad behavior. It's a very rude attitude, but he's actually a good person." Soon another little boy emerged from the line and walked to where Mavis was. The girl put on an ugly face, a forced smile.
"You're his sister?" Mavis asked as she raised one of her eyebrows, completely in disbelief. Seeing how this girl's attitude seems more mature, it should be the older sister, but in reality?
"What's your name?"
"my name? Em, actually I don't remember at all the names given by my parents. It's just that Romi's sister started calling me Elizia since we were kids."
"Since I was a kid? How old are you now?" Mavis could not help but laugh at the expression of the little girl. According to his understanding, the two children should be less than ten, then why did the cute boy confidently feel as if he had grown up?
"Elizia! Why did you tell them our names! Didn't I say it over and over again, stop talking to strangers!" The little man turned around and made a strong protest to his sister.
