Chapter 6. Finding the Source of the Cause

Chapter 6

Lewis stared uneasily at his parents. Maybe they can still last 3-7 days, after that do not know. Artac Island is not a place that can produce vegetables and fruits. This island is the site of various discoveries made by scientists. There are many laboratories on this small island, so it is heavily guarded. They will do research or discovery of new items or new things. If there are any foreign objects will be researched here.

Residents here on average have intelligent brains compared to people from other places. It's just that they have trouble having a lot of kids. At least one or none at all. Either because the island is a lot of radiation, electro magnetic, electric current, or fertility rate is lacking. Lewis invites his friends to look for food to a supermarket that has been abandoned because the area has become a dead village, its inhabitants become zombies.

"If not, how can we find out. I'm sure that there are still a lot of stocks of staples that can be taken" Lewis replied.

They entered a supermarket. There's a sense of anxiety that zombies will appear inside this building. The weapons they carry are firebombs and everyone carries one.

With careful steps the four of them got into the food section. It turns out that as expected there are still many food stocks there even though they are in a mess.

"We each carry a trolley and put in as much as we can!" let's Lewis.

They are competing to include a lot of staple food. With fast motion.

There were three zombies in cashier uniforms heading towards the four of them. The arrival of the creature made them panic and immediately ran.

"Come, hurry!" lewis shouted to Gaby and Hilda who were left behind.

Armando, who had the highest posture and was the strongest among the four of them, took out the fire-fighting gas and sprayed it towards the zombies. Then, he picked up a bottle of gasoline and threw it at them followed by a lit lighter.

Boom up!

A huge fire lit up and burned two zombies. There was a zombie chasing them.

Grprr! Grprr!

"Oh, don't they start coming!" armando shouted straight into the elevator that was already full of food trolleys.

"Gaby .. Hilda, hurry!" Lewis had pressed the elevator door and the girls jumped while pushing the trolley and managed to get in before the elevator closed.

Their breaths were hunting, their lives were almost gone. At least they got four trolleys of groceries. They quickly got into a parked car in front of the supermarket.

The arrival of Lewis and his friends who brought food in happy welcome. At least they can survive.

"I've contacted a friend who's on the main island. They will be sending a meal of staple food by air tomorrow" Maria said, and residents who heard her were delighted.

"Try you guys look! I think this is the person who first turned into a zombie" Aron said as he played the cctv footage in the basement lab room.

In the footage, a man wearing a Geophysical Laboratory uniform comes out of a test room next to the research room of Aron's team. That guy has turned into a zombie. Then, the monitor screen changed to the cctv recording in the elevator. The zombies attacked the other lab workers and turned them into zombies as well.

"That means there's something in the test room that makes that person turn into a zombie?" Lewis looked at the father.

"Yes, daddy feels that way too" replied Aron.

"Then we have to find out what's in the room?" Armando spoke excitedly.

"Yes, I agree. However, we must find the source of this incident. So that no more bad things will happen on this island," continued Gaby with a sad look. He was still in shock to see many people he knew turning into zombies.

"But, we must prepare everything carefully. Let us not go to the battlefield without carrying weapons and what strategies are used to defeat the enemy" Hilda added.

The five of them decided to go to the Geophysics lab tomorrow morning with some weapons that could make a big fire. Fire bombs were also prepared.

Not only Aron and the young people are eager to exterminate the zombies, so is Maria. He and some of his co-workers who had made the SS13 vaccine, now they also make more for all the citizens of Artac island. After all, the zombies had already spread all over the island.

It has been three days that Maria and her team have made a serum that can be injected or consumed.

"How many hundreds of thousands of tubes?" aiden asked Maria while showing her a small 7-centimeter tube. The tube is used only once.

"I think we do as much as we can. Because someone may need more than one tube" answered Mary. He remembered the condition of Lewis and Armando's body which gave a different reaction to the SS13 vaccine.

Meanwhile, at the Biochemistry lab warehouse where Maria and the others are making vaccines. A colleague of Mary was about to bring a box of empty tubes to the container of vaccine liquid.

The woman's face suddenly turned pale when she heard the sound of zombies. Then, he circulated his gaze in all directions while walking carefully.

Grprr! Grprr!

"Let'soooooo!"

The woman screamed loudly as the zombies bit her neck. The woman's body twitched while screaming in pain. He was afraid of turning into a zombie. The extreme pain made him confident that he would turn into a zombie as well. However, he could still suppress the danger sign, so the silent siren resonated in the Biochemistry laboratory building.

"What's going on?" Everyone who was making the vaccine was taken aback by the sound of this siren.

"Great, there's a zombie in this building!" shouted Maria hysterically.
