Philip Clarke raised his gaze and met a familiar face. That person wore a ridiculing sarcasm expression.
"Weslie Warren?"
Philip frowned. They were classmates during their college years. In fact, they both fall in love with Wynn Johnston, making them more precisely rivals.
However, Wynn ultimately chose to be with the talented Philip Clarke.
In that case, Wesley still held a grudge.
He was no less than a man than Philip as far as he knew. However, why would Wynn choose Philip over him?
Not to mention, Philip didn't have much for him from what Wesley had heard. Philip's plan to start his own business failed and he is now forced to make a living delivering food. Her daughter was diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disability, and her marriage to Wynn is no longer what it used to be.
The worse Philip Clarke's turn, the more hatred Wesley felt in his heart.
It is normal for men to hold grudges when the love of their university life is taken away.
'Absolute rubbish! How dare he make the woman I love suffer!'
"God! Damn you, my classmate!"
Wesley laughed out loud as he walked over. Clapping Philip's shoulders, he said, "It has been four years since we last met! I heard you've changed jobs and started delivering food now? So, how much do you earn a month? Salary is not too bad, I assume."
Wesley's tone flowed with arrogant ridicule.
Philip furrowed his brows and smiled. "It's not so bad."
Wesley laughing. Knowing that Philip tried his best not to look weak, he took a shiny gold card and gave it to Philip as it would be given to beggars. Proudly, she stated, "If you want to come and eat, just call my number. I'll give you a discount, see how old we are classmates and all."
Philip glanced calmly at the name on the golden business card in front of him. Wesley Warren, Arc de Triumph Manager.
Indeed, one would find it difficult to compare with the Wesley family background.
It had only been three or four years since graduation, and he had already found himself in the position of manager of the Arc de Triumph.
Arc de Triumph Hotel is one of the most famous hotels in Riverdale.
With chains across the country, the Arc de Triumph is a five-star hotel!
Being his manager clearly implies Wesley's ability in the way he does things.
The corner of Philip's lips twitched forming a faint smile. "Thank you."
Pride filled Wesley's eyes as he smiled. "Why thank me? It's not like you're going to come here all the time. I'll say at most once a year, won't I? We are old classmates, only right if I give you a discount.Note, I can hardly believe you will be able to buy food here with your wages as a deliveryman. I've heard that you need money for your daughter's illness, and by helping you, I think I'm also helping Wynn."
Wesley made sure to put extra emphasis on his daughter and Wynn Johnston's illness as he spoke.
Suddenly, a thought came to Wesley. "Hey, I heard people say you're going to get divorced with Wynn? Did ya? Everyone was jealous of your relationship at the time. Three years ago, why divorce?
"Oh, right! That's a shotgun wedding, isn't it? Nice work, man. You've been on the train before you even paid for the ticket."
Philip replied calmly, "I don't think there's much of my divorce with Wynn that concerns you."
Wesley did not receive the hint, sighing. "Philip, I don't want to say this, man. But what's the point of delivering food? You are our idol at the university with your high spirit and so on. I admired you then, but what happened to you? How-to? did you get like this?"
Philip squinted his eyes.
Wesley was a cheap man. Sure, it seemed like they were reminiscing about the past, yet every word he spoke was mock criticism and blasphemy.
Coupled with his arrogant and provocative expression, he did not even respect Philip at all.
"But it's okay. I trust you. Even though you are only delivering food now, hard work is hard work, right? I'm sure you'll be delivering the package soon. By the time your divorce with Wynn goes away, I will definitely be chasing her again. I still miss him even after all these years."
Wesley shrugged his shoulders. "Oh yeah. There's a reunion party next month. You should come, man, and remember to take Wynn too because you haven't joined in the last two years. Unless you're scared of all of us, old classmates will make fun of you?"
Philip smiled. "What are you trying to say?"
"Not much. It's just that you know how humans are. When we see something sad, we cannot help but sympathize. Seeing your failure, I found myself more at peace." Wesley laughed out loud.
What else could he say?
He laughed at Philip!
Every pathetic and resigned thought in his mind disappeared instantly. Seeing Philip's current state made Wesley's heart filled with excitement.
He looked at Philip, trying to find the slightest hint of shame or embarrassment in his expression.
However, all that met him were the same expressions of Philip's calmness.
Okay, keep pretending!
Philip shrugged his shoulders. "Do you think you're so cool, Wesley Warren? The road of life is long. What makes you think I won't end up in a higher place than you in the future?"
With that, Philip reinserted the gold card into Wesley's blazer pocket and turned to leave.
Wesley didn't like it.
Regardless of how badly his life had changed, Philip was still acting arrogant.
At university, he was no match for Philip Clarke.
During Philip's time in attendance, Wesley easily became a side character.
Now with Philip's life getting worse coupled with the huge gap between their two statuses, Wesley felt an incomparable calm.
He wanted to mock Philip with everything he had.
He wanted to take back everything he had lost back then.
Including Wynn Johnston.
