The First Heir (First Heir)

The First Heir (First Heir)
chapter 49

Philip smiled shyly and asked, "Mom, what's the urgency?"

Martha glared at him. "Stay here to increase our numbers, pretending to protest. You don't have to care about anything else." Later, Martha and several other middle-aged men and women went to join the protest, shouting. It was a shocking sight.

Philip got some info from the observers and understood the situation a little. This is a financial investment company, and this group of parents have bought some investment plans here. They should have gotten their returns today. However, the building was now empty, with only a few lower-level staff left and one manager. From the looks of it, it might be an illegal fundraising scheme!

This is where the problem gets serious. Companies like this usually target wealthy middle-aged people, and once a decline occurs, they will run away, and the money will be gone. No wonder Martha was so anxious.

Philip felt a headache coming. He went and asked, "Mom, what did you buy? How much did you invest?" If the numbers were small, Philip was not too worried. She was just afraid that her mother-in-law had invested a lot of money.

Martha's voice was almost gone from all the screaming. He glared at Philip but kept telling him, "I invested in the house that your father and I lived in. They say that the house is good for retirement and can make huge profits. If we invest this year, we could have two houses next.year."

"What's? Ma'am, you invested in that house?" cry Philip. He knew that this time was over. Her mother-in-law was a retired university instructor, so how could she be so screwed up?

When Martha heard Philip's exclamation, her face immediately flushed red, and she went up and hit him on the head. "What are you yelling about? Don't you think that's embarrassing enough? If it wasn't because you were useless, would I have to put up a house for investment? I'm just trying to ensure a better life for the future. Or what, should we rely on trash like you to take care of your father and me?"

As Martha scolded, she felt panic inside. It was the house she had with her husband. If the company really ran away with the money, they would lose the house. How could he not be worried? Especially at a time like this when Philip still had an indifferent expression on his face, which made him even more furious.

"Don't tell Wynnie about this. Stay here and scream. I'll call Addy. He should have a solution." Martha gave Philip a warning look before she turned to call Aiden.

The flattering tone of Martha at this moment made Philip a little annoyed. She was his son-in-law, but he did not treat her as well as he treated outsiders. But he couldn't blame her, because, in his eyes, she was trash.

When the call ended, Martha smiled happily. He then rolled his eyes at Philip and scolded, "What are you, a piece of stone? Start yelling!"

Philip snorted in reply and then mimicked a group of older people as he shouted hysterically. After seeing this hardworking Philip, Martha finally felt better. But she still looked down on him as she muttered, "A useless boy."

Afterwards, Martha went to her friends to announce flirtatiously, "Don't worry, I've called Addy to us, and he'll be here any minute."

"You mean Aiden Grant? Oh my God, he's a very good boy. His family had a business, so he definitely had good connections. I heard they make tens of millions a year."

"Martha, look at us, we're all old. When Aiden gets here later, can you ask him to see us as well?"

Martha's friends started licking her. This makes Martha happy. "Oh yeah, Aiden's a really good kid, but we have to see if our Wynnie wants to marry him. After all, there's still that useless Philip." Marta laughs. He did not mind underestimating Philip to elevate his daughter and Aiden to higher status.

In Martha's eyes, Aiden was her rich daughter-in-law, her future treasure vault. Comparing Philip to him was like comparing mud to gold.
