The First Heir (First Heir)

The First Heir (First Heir)
chapter 51

Philip felt the fur on his skin standing under the watchful eye of the crowd. He then saw Aiden walking towards him with a smirk.

"Philip, try repeating what you said earlier. I didn't hear it clearly." Aiden looks patronizing. Philip loves to talk wherever he is not needed. Does he not know his place? Even dare to spout such nonsense. If I, Aiden Grant, can't get this done, is trash like him able?

Philip pouting. After some thought, he answered honestly, "I said that today's matter will not be as easy as it seems. There may be illegal fundraising involved in this, so I don't think help from someone will be able to solve it. So I want to ask a friend for help. Is there a problem?"

Hearing this, Aiden immediately snorted. "Geez, you're really great Philip. You even have friends now? Wh why? Want to be a hero today? Sure, why don't you handle this?"

After Aiden spoke, the older people around started bombarding insults.

"Martha, what does your son-in-law mean? Does he want to lead? He looks so shabby, what can he do? Isn't this just embarrassing?"

"It's Martha's son-in-law, wretched garbage delivering stuff. What could he do? Stop being almighty and talk big!"

"Young people today do like to dream too far without being realistic. Maybe he's upset about seeing Aiden's ability."

Martha was furious when she heard her friend mocking Philip. The slap! He threw a loud slap across Philip's face and shouted furiously, "Come away! There's nothing you can do here! One more word from you, and I'll get Wynnie to divorce you!"

Philip's frozen. He could feel his cheeks boiling. His gaze turned cold as flames raged in his chest. However, she could not show any emotions to her mother-in-law.

After she finished scolding Philip, Martha pulled Aiden's arm apologizing and smiled at him. "Addy, don't listen to Philip's bullshit. What does a lazy trash like him know? We still need you to help us with this."

It's like a soap opera in the eyes of a crowd. They just feel funnier when they watch. The humiliation and ridicule of the crowd became even harsher on this, and it made Aiden even happier. She was here to show off her abilities and connections with her future mother-in-law today, so how could she let Philip take that glory from her? Moreover, what right would a trash like Philip have to act in front of him?

At this thought, Aiden raised his chin and looked at Philip condescendingly. "Don't you say you can finish this? Then, you did it. I'd like to see what you, Philip Clarke, can do to solve this problem today."

Philip frowned loudly. When he noticed how his mother-in-law was glaring at him as if she wanted to swallow him alive, and the dark expressions of all the elders around as they gritted their teeth, Philip knew that he should not do anything. "Sorry, my friend has something, so he can't help. Anyway, why don't you do it." Philip sighed.

However, Philip simply smiled and stood still in the corner. Why should he waste time talking to a narcissist?

Hearing this, the crowd laughed out loud.

"There are so many types of young people today. Does he not feel ashamed? He was dressed very shabby and even spoke nonsense. Now that he backfired, he's acting like a coward."

"Don't say that. She's still Martha's daughter-in-law. Even though he's trash, at least he has a good son-in-law."

As Philip listened to this baseless gossip, he felt helpless. Her mother-in-law was even now comfortable with Aiden, chatting happily with him, seemingly closer to him than she was to this daughter-in-law. Philip went to the corner, and when no one was looking, he called Theo.

At the same time, inside the private rooms of a prestigious hotel, the interior design was luxurious and there was a tall and beautiful staff waiting inside. Theo was enjoying himself, drinking with a middle-aged fat man. More precisely, the middle-aged fat man was trying to flatter Theo.

The big man smiled brightly as he took out a silver bank card from his black wallet and, along with a stack of contracts, handed it respectfully to Theo who was currently smoking a cigar.

If there was anyone else in the room, they would definitely recognize this large middle-aged man. President of Lucrative Funds Finance Company, Lamar Collins.

"Brother Theo, this is the company's bonus from last month. There are six million dollars, and here are thirteen real estate contracts" Lamar said.

Theo narrowed his eyes and nodded, asking his men to accept the offering without restraint. He then patted Lamar on the shoulder with a smile and said, "Master Collins, this will be the last time. Don't look for me again after this. Your company is dangerous, and I've cleared my hands of this field. I'd advise you to change your business as well. If things get serious, you may need to go to jail."

Lamar replied with a smile, "Don't worry, Brother Theo. This has nothing to do with you. So, if anything happens, I will take full responsibility. It's just my little token of appreciation. If it wasn't for you supporting me back then, I would never have made it today."

Theo nodded and said nothing more.
