Shall Under Your Charm

Shall Under Your Charm
Chapter 63

At sunset, Farah finds Gege alone on the porch. Gege sat on the porch casually. Behind Gege, Farah saw that the forest was already dark green, and the sky turned to magenta, which made the young man's face look transparent with an orange glow hitting his hair.

The guitar in Gege's hand chants the melody of love, and Gege accompanies it with a melodious, albeit emotionless song. Farah stood where there was no light, watched the sun sink and heard Gege's singing, and when the final pitch began to fade, Farah could not speak, because Gege's songs always affect him with sadness and the beauty of his melody. Farah also never told Gege that the song touched his heart, because he knew Gege did not like to be praised.

Then Gege lowered his legs, put his guitar on the fence and then approached Farah. From this close distance, Farah could smell the scent that stuck in Gege's hair and see Gege's eyes were not focused.

Linda is right. For the first time, Gege was seen drunk. Farah's conjecture has something to do with Keith, and no one wants to say anything to him, other than warning Farah not to ask Gege, unless she wants her head to drift.

Farah touched an orchid flower that was in the pot with her finger and smiled. "This flower is so beautiful, isn't it?"

"No." said Gege.

"No?"

Gege said, "The orchid reminds me too much of the fact that flowers are organs***** plants. I want my flowers to be more.", Gege touched the orchid and then looked at Farah, "protected."

"You're as bad as Will" Farah said.

This morning, when Farah had the opportunity to admire the beauty of the sea scene, Will said nonchalantly, "I don't understand what you can admire from the ocean. What's in it besides fish? If you think of all the fish that have been in the sea for centuries...." Upon seeing the sharp gazes from Gege and Gio, Will added, "Oh. Sorry, Farah. I mean fish urine." Farah shook her head as she recalled Will's words.

"Mmm" that's just Gege's answer to her. Gege climbed again to the porch and reached out to Farah. "Here, sweetie," said Gege and gently pulled Farah between his legs so that Farah leaned comfortably on Gege's body but faced backwards, and Gege's hands started massaging Farah's shoulders. "How does it feel?"

"It's amazing" said Farah, and within a minute Gege turned Farah around. Revealing Farah's neck, Gege's palms shifted to massage Farah's tense muscles.

"So Ryan didn't snatch your virginity this afternoon?"

"How did you know?".

"How do I know? He probably already did, because I don't know anything. No one has ever told me that" Gege said.

Then Farah asked curiously. "How do you always know when I want my neck massaged?"

"Your shoulder slumped." Gege's shrewd fingers eased the tension in Farah's shoulder. "You must have realized I wasn't fully conscious."

"Yes." Yeah."

"Didn't the others warn you to stay away from me?"

"Yes" said Farah again. "But I've never seen you drunk. I couldn't help but watch it myself." Joking, Farah said, "Are you going to attack me?"

Farah's hair glistened like a jewel was buried inside Farah's long hair, and Gege inserted his finger into Farah's hair to begin massaging the girl's scalp. "You must have had a long afternoon, if you come back in hopes of being tortured". Gege.

Gege is not sure Ryan is already harmless. Gege gripped Farah's shoulder firmly. Looking directly into Farah's eyes, Gege said, "I think, no matter what Ryan's intentions are, by the time he's done dealing with you, you'll feel like someone's been squeezing your body."

Farah blinked twice as there was dust on her eyelashes. Then Farah said casually, "I also think so."

Gege sat comfortably while shaking his legs. "We can talk about your problem for a while" Farah suggested bluntly.

"I don't have a problem. Keith said I was just too involved in other people's business.... I'll leave later, so if you want to discuss your problem, we'd better do it now."

Ready to tell a story and be able to do it without crying are two different things. Turning his head to the side to look at Gege's face, Farah wondered how he could describe it in the form of words. It was a topic that could only be conveyed indirectly. "What do you think about women who fall in love with men.

who made him a prisoner?" ask Farah.

"I think he's trying to save his neck" Gege replied. "If she's your friend, you'd better advise her that such love has no future."

"He already knows it" Farah said, propping her legs up on her knees. "But he's getting powerless to stop that feeling. And now, as the man seemed to be about to let go, he couldn't imagine having to part with the man."

From the orange tree behind them, there was a song of birds. "Why do you think the man was so nice to my friend when he was sick, but then avoided him?"

The white powder had made Gege's eyes sore, and he closed them while wondering how the addict could withstand the unpleasant effects of the powder. As his eyes got better, Gege realized it was time to answer Farah's question.

Obviously Ryan chose not to talk about it with Farah, and it was Gege who was forced to take over the task of explaining it. It seems that Ryan had decided to release Farah, because Farah could not have thought so, if Ryan had not given the girl a reason to believe it. And he knew Ryan would not change his mind, unless there was interference from that destiny. Keith could have been that terrible fate meddling, because for whatever reason, Keith didn't want Farah and Ryan to go their separate ways.

The urge to protect Farah felt flowing in Gege's veins as he opened his eyes and saw that Farah's hands on his knees were beginning to tremble. Gege had to think for a moment to remember what Farah's question was. Then, Gege said very carefully, "If the man has an attachment to your friend, it might be difficult for the man to let go. It would be better for the two of them if the attachment did not develop more deeply."

With a quivering voice, Farah asked, "But what if at my own will my friend decided to stay with the man?"

In the warm night air, Gege's hands felt ice-cold. That's an offer Farah can't give Ryan. "And spend the rest of her life as a woman who depends on that man?" Pity has made Gege's voice sound rude.

"Pursuing the man, looking for the crumbs he left behind, doing whatever the man wanted, like the woman before him? That friend of yours definitely didn't expect to live that kind of life - and if that guy had feelings for your friend, he wouldn't have the heart to let it go either."

Suddenly, Gege no longer speaks by referring to Farah's friend, "God knows you don't have the power to be Ryan's whore."

After a moment of stifling silence, Farah said, "Did Ryan say that to you?"

"It's not exactly like that."

"But something like that?"

"Yes, something like that" Gege replied.

"I think" said Farah in a soft voice, "marriage is impossible."

Weddings. Gege's mind absorbed those words with shock. Farah wouldn't have asked if only the girl knew Ryan's long name. Oh. God, how innocent Farah is. If there were not thousands of obstacles, Ryan's respectable attitude would not have allowed the man to touch Farah's hand as long as Farah was still her captive. Love is a dangerous trap.
