Shall Under Your Charm

Shall Under Your Charm
Chapter 57

Ryan rubbed his eyes with the base of his hand, as if he was re-cleaning his brain, and as he lowered his hand, Ryan said, "You may not have faith in the power of healing brought about by guilt, but I promise you, that my guilt will keep Farah alive until she's three hundred. And Farah means more to me than just a warm body...." Ryan did not continue his words, but his hand reached into his pocket and pulled out a piece of paper. Ryan handed it to Gege "Tell me about this record" Ryan said.

Gege looked towards the paper. There, there was his own handwriting, a neatly arranged row of letters, which always seemed to come from someone else's hand and not his own.

"Where did you get it?" gege asked, as if he had not known it. "The note was next to me when Linda woke me up. I'm guessing Keith put it there. I can't think of anyone else brave enough to tear your journal apart from him. What'sthat?"

Reluctantly, Gege replied, "The medicinal banquet of the hinterland tribe. I don't know how to use it."

"Have you tried it?"

"Yesterday. I made the potion, and Will gave it to one of the dogs". Gege looked away from Ryan, staring at the neatly lined trees. Gege felt Ryan's sharp gaze, then just as he was relieved that Ryan had averted his gaze, Ryan made his own conclusion.

"Did the dog die?" said Ryan. "I don't know if the dog will die" Gege said. Helplessness, aggravation, and frustration returned to Gege, thankfully he was now able to remove all that from his voice, explaining, "Will could not bear to see him and shoot the dog dead."

Ryan muttered his sympathy while walking down the grass with his finger.

"Then, the dose is too strong. We can reduce it." said Ryan.

"For God's sake, don't you think I'm thinking there?" firmly Gege. "Diminish by how much? In fact, even if I knew, I wasn't sure the potion was safe enough for Farah."

On the way down the grass, Ryan's hand found a small scorpion and Ryan let the animal walk over his palm. Gege's abdominal muscles crumpled, even though he knew that the sting of a small scorpion was no more dangerous than the bite of an ant. Gege kept his mouth shut, and before long Gege let the scorpion creep on his stomach.

Ryan smiled. "The tribe of the people of the interior is famous for being powerful."

"Listen, "Ryan looked at Gege seriously. "We'll try a lighter dose and give it to me first. Can you?"

"No!" Gege's face turned pale. "Oh, don't don't ask me to do it."

Ryan was standing up. "Don't be too scared, Ge. Do you think I'll let you kill me? I won't have the heart to let you explain my death to Keith alone........"

"Not to mention I have to put you in a cheap coffin and send you home to your mother." Timpal Gege with his anger, Gege said, "Try to stop trying to be a hero, can you? I already felt a deep sorrow seeing Farah unconscious. I will not give you the potion. The human body doesn't always bring out anything you put in. Chemical reaction of the doctor's drugs then arsenic poison.... Oh no, I don't want to do it on a healthy body."

"Looky! I don't need to send you home, but I might bury you with a dead dog yesterday. What's the matter with you?" Gege was getting frustrated.

In the end, it was Ryan who won, When Gege thought about it again, maybe it was due to the fact that the business got what he wanted, no one could beat Ryan. Gege gives Ryan a concoction of medicine that is still doubtful of its efficacy, and while Ryan still survives even though his condition cannot be said to be healthy, Gege reduces the dose of the herb and gives it to Farah.

Farah opened her eyes. He saw Gege, looking down upon him with a wet cloth, which Gege washed into Farah's skin every few seconds, when Gege was not taking medicine on him. The wet cloth gently placed on her forehead made Farah feel sticky. And, Gege has awakened him from a dream about an alien monster. Farahb raised his hand and pushed Gege.

"No!" said Farah with a hoarse voice.

Farah saw Gege dropping the cloth and making the wet sheets, Gege looked at Farah's face with an expression that looked like an enormous astonishment. Before Farah had a chance to comment on her, Gege had already grabbed her hand and pressed it into the young man's mouth with his eyes closed tightly. Then, to Farah's heart ache, Gege lowered his head over Farah's hand and dropped something wet onto the middle of her palm, before sliding down to her wrist. Where did the water come from? "You're not sick, are you?" ask Farah..

Gege turned his face away. "No. No, i...." Gege's voice sounded strange. "Farah, you'll be well soon."

"That's what you always tell me. But, I have not seen the real evidence," Farah asserted ignorantly even though her face was still pale. "Where is Ryan? Why is it so dark here? I thirst. And you're making my hands wet."

In a happier state higher than anything he has ever known in life, Gege rushes to fulfill all Farah's requests. Opening the window, wiping Farah's hands dry, raised Farah's head to give her water. Gege briefly paused in front of a mirror to observe his own eyes, which miraculously had shed tears for the first time since infancy. Finally, after Gege feels confident he can control his new ability to shed tears, Gege goes to tell the others that Farah will survive.

Farah was never told that the girl was once on the verge of death. As a result, Farah did not understand why everyone was so happy to see her sober. And if anyone knows why it took him three days since he regained consciousness before Ryan came to visit him, they feel they have no right to say why. It was only later that Farah learned that Ryan spent three days fighting the toxic effects of arsenic.

Keith Island is a fertile island that is still not much touched and is in the tropics. Coffee and chocolate plants for export thrive in the middle of the valley. Here and there, there were plantations run by Keith's men who made the island their home.

Farah's healing process on the island was filled with long afternoon sleep and fine dining made by chef Keith. The villa itself is not very spacious, but it is built in a beautiful Spanish style and is equipped with elegant furniture that can be a camouflage for guests who come that the owner is a mafia. If you try to find traces of the personality of Keith, or Ryan around the villa, the results obtained are only greater confusion.

The only less pleasant surprise was that Farah realized that in her heart, she was beginning to expect Ryan's tenderness, which was done more out of feelings of love rather than guilt. The inexplicable stupidity, that's the only suitable explanation for Farah's longing, more because Ryan has never been alone with her since they came to this island.

Ryan always avoided her. Now, Farahbs knows how dangerous it would be if he cared too much about what Ryan felt about him. How many times did he have to learn that painful lesson? All Farah had to do was turn her feelings into mere friendships and not regret things that could not have happened. There was a sense of comfort in knowing that, even if it developed into something he could no longer control, he could always discuss it with Gege.
