Chapter 31: The Incognito

The night gives a cool atmosphere plus when it snows. Wei opened the window of the stretcher he was currently riding on. His hands held out, enjoying the cool snow that hit his tiny hands.

"Does the queen need anything?" tanya Tzuran who walked beside the stretcher.

Wei only shook his head while staring at the dark night sky. They had only returned to the palace after attending a banquet from Xavier Kingdom this afternoon. He had only come alone because Fengying was attending an important meeting in the Goching Kingdom.

"We are almost there, empress" said Ruyin after seeing the royal gate that was in sight.

Wei was silent. He actually wanted to go out longer because the kingdom he lived in was extremely stifling. Plus Fengying's relentless cruel treatment inflicted physical and inner injuries on her.

"We've arrived, queen."

The woman got out of the stretcher, then walked towards her residence. "What time is it, ladyboy?" his question broke the silence between them.

"Now at nine o'clock, empress."

I don't know what he was thinking, a smile just etched into his lips. He then ran towards his residence making all his followers shocked and immediately chased after him.

Yes, Wei knew running was forbidden for an empress. But he did not want to be too bound by the royal rules. He wanted to be himself and no longer cared about the circumstances around him.

"Why did the queen run? Isn___"

"Darling, I want to be free tonight. Are you guys gonna help me?" wei asked as soon as they reached her residence.

Ruyin frowned. "What can we do for the queen?"

"I want to go out tonight."

"I mean empress? Does the empress want to come out undercover?" tzuran's question got a nod of the head from Wei.

"Didn't a member of the royal family often go undercover? I even more than once found the emperor out in disguise."

"We can't let the empress go undercover. What if the emperor finds out?"

"Emperor knows or doesn't know I'll still be tortured, right? You've been witnesses all along."

Ruyin looked at Wei with pity. Yes, he often treated the wounds on Wei's body as a result of Fengying's actions. Even Wei was often used as an emotional outlet by Fengying.

Without waiting for Ruyin's approval, Wei immediately changed her clothes. She was wearing a plain green dress, her hair she was bun so it showed her white neck. Lastly she took a long robe that matched the color of her dress.

"Darling, is it okay?" tanya Tzuran looked at Ruyin.

The half-old woman just took a deep breath. "We'll wait for the queen at the back door. If the empress passes through the back door and down the mountain road, the empress will arrive at the city."

"Honey? How did you know?"

"I also once exited the palace secretly, therefore I can know the nearest and safe way to the city, empress."

Wei smiled proudly. "You're so great, ladyboy. I go first, take care of the residence as long as I'm gone!"

The street was dark, the woman had a little trouble seeing the road. But he did not care and continued on his way. Actually he didn't know what to look for, he just wanted to get out and see the city at night snowing.

Wei immediately hid in the tall bushes when he saw two people walking with lanterns. His eyes squinted trying to notice the two people.

"Dad! You know if I want the emperor, but why are you asking me to eliminate him?!"

Wei's reflexes covered her mouth with both hands. It was the voice of Zhuan, the first concubine.

Wei could not believe what he saw. How could it all be a coincidence? This was a great secret he knew from the emperor's first concubine.

"I've tried my best, Dad! I even spent all my money to buy potions that could make the emperor crazy about me so that we could have the first night. But all of that failed!"

Zhuan shook his head, balking at his father's orders. "I can't, dad!"

He took three days off to meet his family but upon returning home he found nothing but the bones of the house left burning. He panics and searches for his family to the city, hoping to find his family there.

"I'm sorry big brother, Wei. Brother will listen to all your stories, but before that take brother to our house."

Wei wiped away her tears. He did not bring Huanran to the homes of their parents, but to the inn. He would definitely be scolded all out by their father if caught doing disguise. Or vice versa, he would be asked to run away like that time.

"Where are mom and dad? Why are we at the inn, Wei?"

Wei sat on a chair followed by Huanran. "I can't see them, brother."

"Why? Did you run away?!" tanyanya was a little screaming.
